Zendaya says HBO moved the premiere date of Euphoria season 2 up, resulting in a rushed ending
If you wondered why the last 2/3 episodes of Euphoria season 2 feel rushed, it’s because they were.
Zendaya says that halfway through shooting the series HBO moved their premiere date up (it was originally going to come out summer 2022 but they pushed it up to January), resulting in them having to rush to get the show done.
Wonder why the writing was overall weaker in season 2, well, Sam Levinson was writing the scenes and scripts the day before shooting the scenes.
The music was being written and produced 2 weeks before the episode which would feature that music would air.
Add onto the fact that supposedly the set is just all around hellish to be on, it sounds like a headache of a job.
But they got it done, and still earned 16 Emmy nominations.
I will say, this is still Sam Levinson’s fault. It took them 10 months to film the 8 episodes they did because he took his time with everything, thinking they had over a year to shoot. Just because you were initially given over a year shouldn’t mean you take your time with everything, to the point you were writing scenes to be shot the day prior.
Maude Apatow said they spent a whole week just shooting the night party scenes for the premiere episode. Not even the full episode. Just the night party scenes.

I’m not a fan of this frau, but I like whatever she’s wearing here.
Looks expensive.

She had some sort of run in with Levinson r2. So she went on the back burner.

I was most disappointed at the way the storyline with female drug boss, who would no doubt still be after Rue for her debt, just seemed to disappear from the storyline too. Rue continues to go to school, gets clean etc etc and not a peep about the 10k she owes the woman whose house Rue escaped from that one crazy night.

How does one manage that while filming the show? Are sets, extras, and actors waiting in the wings to be ready when everything's written down? No table read for the actors?

R6 that was one of the many issues going on behind the scenes with season 2. Add on that certain cast members refused to work together.

Euphoria isn’t filmed on a set. It’s filmed in various locations around California.

HBO still hasn't learned their lesson from Game of Thrones? Don't let your showrunners write and director 80-100% of a season!

Rushed? They had at least two thirty minute segments of Zendaya high as a kite and spinning in a circle, which is an institution of the series.
