Horse ladies, like most animal rescuers in general, are fucking nuts R35. I hugely appreciate what they do, saving these miserable horses that are about to be slaughtered, etc., and I would imagine seeing that kind of misery in the world would make you crazy after awhile, but animal rescue really tends to be inhabited by highly antisocial crazy people. TikTok lady horse rescuers are particularly ill. They have to exist though because of all the misery we heap upon animals in this world, and every though the problem is so massive that they make less than zero difference in animal abuse, at least a few animals are taken out of the hell that we impose on them.

Since most things have been exploited to death, now the new trend is to pretend that you're a pitiful little person and your life is a mess in order to get additional views and milk your fans for all they're worth.

Sorry, but this is rather pathetic. Don't these people get enough money and attention already? Do they really need to pretend that they are depressed and exploit something as serious as mental illness for views? Do they realize that there are people with actual problems, such as not being able to eat or keep a roof over their heads? Seriously, these social media and reality TV pseudo-celebrities are so out of touch, arrogant and self-centered that it's impossible not to despise them and their navel-gazing imbecility.

If there ever was a group of people deserving of being forced to fend for themselves during an utter and complete societal collapse, they are it. It's only too bad that the rest of us would suffer as well.

A girl I used to know in middle/high-school was super into equine rescue, and was also a hobbyist eventer & showjumper (not talented but enthusiastic). At school, she used to stalk some of our senior female classmates, and ended up stalking me for a while too (we were casual friends for a while beforehand). She also had severe anorexia for years, controlling and scary behaviours toward her parents, and used to have BPD-style meltdowns when she couldn't get her way. She ended up going to some elite WASPy womens'-only College, adopting a couple of horses, and then marrying a profoundly-disabled wheelchair bound man.

I agree with R121 - the longtime youtubers that I subscribe to (MARY - I know - it became a covid lockdown habit) have all posted videos in the past few months discussing how YouTube is dying, the “glory days” of YouTube are over, and they are trying to reconceptualize their “careers” as content creators. Most of them seem to be posting on YouTube less regularly and moving more into podcasts. They all have mentioned tik tok as the future but “long form” creators do not seem to like tik tok - hence the move to podcasts.

Emma Chamberlain is one of the most (if not the most) successful Gen Z YouTube creators - she seems to have completely crossed over into mainstream media (whatever that means). She doesn’t really post on YouTube anymore, but started a coffee company and has a podcast.

I was googling to see what classified as Gen Z and apparently Gen Alpha is the kids below them. Lord have mercy I feel old (born 1980).

Also “book tube” is big and the kids review books on channels that seem pretty popular.

If you ever need something entirely mindless and vaguely soothing - I got into this younger frau during lockdown when no one could travel. She is an American who posts from Seoul and travels to other parts of South Korea. I never realized Seoul had such great cafes and coffee.
