Allowing Twitter Posts to show up inline

That would be my #1 UX improvement to DL ("inline" means in the body of the thread, the way YouTube links do.) Instagram posts too.

It's frustrating to have to click on the link to know what the post is about, especially on mobile.

(The ability to edit posts would be my actual #1, but we all know that is never going to happen, so....)

What are yours?

šŸš« I don't Twitter.

Problem solved.

Whether you use Twitter or not R1, you may still want to see the tweets that other people post in threads. Breaking news threads in particular are often full of links to Twitter.

The Twitter links I would click are no longer available unless you're a Twitter member, i.e., ones with dong. I wish Twitter would disappear entirely from DL.

As far as changes to DL that Muriel could make, I wish threads were ignorable again, not just posters.

Most Twitter links show up for me inline on DL. You need to enable the Twitter trackers to see them, however.

Like this, OP? I think it only works with the mobile dot twitter dot com url.

Offsite Link

This is the regular twitter.com link, not the mobile one. Does this one show inline?

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 6August 14, 2022 2:18 PM

No, it doesn't, mystery solved!

by Anonymousreply 7August 14, 2022 2:19 PM

^ no

by Anonymousreply 8August 14, 2022 2:19 PM

So, to recap, only post the mobile Twitter links on DL if you want them to show up inline.

by Anonymousreply 9August 14, 2022 2:21 PM

Mobile tweets do not appear to show either

R5 is witch.

by Anonymousreply 11August 14, 2022 3:51 PM

you can use a fake email to sign up.

The recent inability to see most Twitter and Instagram posts - without being a member of said social media - has drastically reduced the experience. But thatā€™s a social media cockblock - not DL

by Anonymousreply 13August 14, 2022 4:01 PM

r10 That's curious -- r5's mobile link resolves for me, but yours does not.

by Anonymousreply 14August 14, 2022 4:07 PM

Interesting -- I do not see either and I am logged into Twitter on this browser
