I can't stop buying IZOD clothing!

I've bought from Amazon, Kohl's and JC Penney. They have them on sale at Belk but I'm not familiar with that store. I live in Ca.

Izod still has some very stylish clothing at great prices.

Belk is just another version of Dillard/Macys etc.

by Anonymousreply 1August 13, 2022 11:40 PM

All items with logos suck.

by Anonymousreply 2August 13, 2022 11:41 PM

Christ if you are going to be retro, go with BAPE (A Bathing Ape)

One of my many retro fashion obsessions!

by Anonymousreply 3August 13, 2022 11:41 PM

In the height of preppy times in the 80's I used to wear a pink izod with bright green Dickie pants. *sigh* the Izod was a small, I don't think I could fit my elbow into it now.

by Anonymousreply 4August 13, 2022 11:43 PM

The Z on that logo is a Stage 5 clinger.

by Anonymousreply 5August 13, 2022 11:44 PM

I used to wear OP back in the 80's too

by Anonymousreply 6August 13, 2022 11:44 PM

OP-

BAPE- A Bathing Ape

Off-White

Kapital (one of the best Japanese Fashion Houses ever- almost unknown)

And id you insist on being a basic BITCH-

Check out RRL, Knickerbocker NYC, and I give up.

GANT makes great stuff they only sell in Europe, not USA.

by Anonymousreply 8August 13, 2022 11:53 PM

R8- Loved that Michael Bastian Gant line circa 2013-2015? Great stuff.

by Anonymousreply 9August 13, 2022 11:55 PM

Are you posting from 1981, OP?

by Anonymousreply 10August 13, 2022 11:59 PM

No one knows how old OP is. IZOD is appropriate at any age. BAPE not so much.

It's pointless buying clothes for me as men always say I look the best with no clothes on.

by Anonymousreply 13August 14, 2022 12:04 AM

Don't laugh, OP might end up getting rich writing a new Offical Preppy Handbook.

by Anonymousreply 14August 14, 2022 12:06 AM

R13- Not me. Nice dick but love handles.

I like being covered in Bape Gorillas and Kapital. And a little Heron Preston and Off-White- if your nasty, baby.

by Anonymousreply 15August 14, 2022 12:06 AM

Izod and Lacoste split up. Lacoste retains the alligator. Lacoste was the preppy attire.

by Anonymousreply 16August 14, 2022 12:08 AM

Oh, dear R7. Are you still dressing like a 10 year old today?

by Anonymousreply 17August 14, 2022 12:11 AM

R17- Yes. I am. I truly mean that-

by Anonymousreply 18August 14, 2022 12:12 AM

What R16 said - Izod is for the Poors

Lacoste makes the shirts with the alligators (Or crocodiles, to be exact, as they are named for "Le Crocodile")

[quote]It's pointless buying clothes for me as men always say I look the best with no clothes on.

I think you misunderstood me. I said "No. [bold]Put your[/bold] clothes on. You look better that way".

Fine with me. I'll save money while I'm at my pool in my brand new 4 br 3 bath 2600 sq ft vacation home in Rancho Mirage away from my primary home any day. I'll keep it poor real, hon. YOU can't say that.

Belk is a mid-level department store. As someone said above, it's on par with Macy's or Dillards.

Had a good reputation when I was growing up in the South.

by Anonymousreply 23August 14, 2022 12:30 AM

R22, is seething with envy. Hee.

by Anonymousreply 24August 14, 2022 12:31 AM

OP is wearing Izod, Hee

by Anonymousreply 25August 14, 2022 12:32 AM

R21 is the balls.

yes bitch.

[Quote] OP is wearing Izod, Hee

Yeah, I started a thread about it, genius.

by Anonymousreply 27August 14, 2022 12:35 AM

As far as their polos go Izod is a fuller cut version, the Lacoste is cut narrower in the torso and the arms are narrower. The cotton pique used to the Izod is heavier, the Lacoste a bit lighter.

I generally think Izod is for the older man and a Lacoste only ever looks really good on a lean, athletic frame.

by Anonymousreply 28August 14, 2022 12:48 AM

OP types old.

I love going on eBay and searching for shirt lots. I got 4 new Daniel Cremieux shirts (one didn't fit) for $200, and they weren't the Dillard's Signature shirts, they were the $395 shirts. I'm sure they weren't this season (or last or the one before that!) but they were lovely and I try to treat them kindly. Dry cleaning instead of washing them. Building a little room in my house to display them in a glass case. Starting an Instagram for them.

by Anonymousreply 30August 14, 2022 3:15 AM

I had lots of colors, r4. I started buying them in 1974, at Saks in Chevy Chase, MD. They cost $17.50 at that time. Then I discovered a store at the Watergate that was going out of business, and I bought a stack of them for $9 each, IIRC. I would no longer fit in mine, either, size [italic]midi-patron[/italic].

R8 GANT is available here in the States. We had a GANT shop in Bucktown (Chicago) for a few years, but it has since closed. It's very good quality, yet prohibitively priced. A pair of Bermuda shorts were "on sale" at $149, last time I popped in there.

by Anonymousreply 33August 14, 2022 6:01 PM

bump

by Anonymousreply 34August 16, 2022 6:04 PM

R16 - Thanks for the info. You answered the question I was ready to post.
