Interesting, R21. I know there are many poor whites in SA contrary to what one might think, but surely by chance he would have run into and helped a few black people. Unfortunately, R36, I think your second guess is the correct one. Also, in terms of race, SA is predominately black, but the wealthiest are still white. So this guy might get off on the idea of turning the tables and humiliating white people who need to rely on the generosity of a black man. The horrific remnants of Apartheid still exist, and maybe he finds it empowering to flip the narrative in a world where the “white savior” trope endures.
