Straight couples who want gifts from DINK gays for their kids, obviously. I hate my nephew and niece.
Are you a gay uncle? Sunday is Gay Uncles' Day! Who came up with this infernal idea?

Typical looking gay couple

The baby in that photo is looking like "would these two dizzy queens please leave me the fuck alone."

I know it is lame to mention, but I bet Ricky Martin doesn't like this holiday.
by Anonymous | reply 3 | August 13, 2022 3:36 PM |
I won't even write the disgusting portmanteau.

Could those brows be more sculpted?
by Anonymous | reply 5 | August 13, 2022 4:14 PM |
Does Hallmark make a card for this? If so, then they're probably the ones who invented the holiday.

That baby is cute. Looks like a mix between the Olsen twins and Tatum O’Neal.
by Anonymous | reply 7 | August 13, 2022 4:58 PM |
That baby is the same color as the orange background wtf
by Anonymous | reply 8 | August 13, 2022 5:03 PM |
R7 I was just going to say it was an Olsen twin.
by Anonymous | reply 9 | August 13, 2022 5:33 PM |
OP—We don’t give gifts on this day. We receive them. My niblings sent me a bottle of Helenesque.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | August 13, 2022 5:50 PM |
Sorry, it's awesome to spoil kids and subtly or not-so-subtly help guide them into adulthood without being responsible for them 24/7.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | August 13, 2022 5:51 PM |
I don’t speak to my nieces and nephews anymore…they don’t get along with their father, my brother, so they snub me by default. I never did those kids wrong, never. I loved them. But they are closer to their mother’s family. And they are awful people. I try to shrug my shoulders and move on, but it’s painful to deal with.

I am an uncle and I happen to be gay, but the two have nothing to do with each other.
My nephew is 2 years old, adorable and relatively easy to handle. I will soon be uncle to another nephew, he'll be delivered in January.
Being an uncle is nice. I give the child back to my brother the moment it starts crying, needs a new diaper, etc.
All the fun, none of the obligations.

Right on, r13. I’m about to experience this gay uncle phenomenon for the first time this fall, with my brother’s kid.
Looking forward to the dine and dash aspect of the whole arrangement.

I love being an uncle. I could never be a father though.

Since I've been an adult, I've only had two small presents and separate occasions for anything including birthdays and Christmas.
I'm not holding out any hope.
Shit, I might buy myself a present, I'm great?
by Anonymous | reply 16 | August 13, 2022 6:54 PM |
Dumb idea, hope it crashes and burns and we never hear of it again!
by Anonymous | reply 17 | August 13, 2022 7:06 PM |
That’s right r16. Be your own parent or boyfriend and indulge yourself.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | August 19, 2022 12:46 PM |
All my nieces and nephews save one, are Trumpsters. I ignore them full stop.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | August 19, 2022 12:52 PM |
cute couple. just lose the creepy kid.
by Anonymous | reply 20 | August 19, 2022 12:55 PM |
"niblings"
what the fuck
by Anonymous | reply 21 | August 19, 2022 12:58 PM |
I first heard this portmanteau on an episode of Modern Family. Sounds like some enterprising grifter has taken the suggestion and run with it.

R12, your story sounds just like my husband's. He has three nieces whom he doted on all through their childhood, never missing a birthday OR holiday. When his brother and sister-in-law divorced, it was so acrimonious that the older two turned against their father, and us by default. We only have a relationship with the youngest.
by Anonymous | reply 23 | August 19, 2022 1:31 PM |
R23 I feel your pain. My niece and nephews only deal with folks who do something for them…just the way of things these days. I’m probably guilty of being like that too.

[quote] Stop monopolizing posts by trying to make your hate of “guncle” a relevant or interesting opinion. It is not.

I have three nieces and nephews from my siblings, though they are not far off my age. I have another three (whom I quite like) via my younger husband, aged 11 to 20. His family are much better than mine.

I love having nothing to do with other peoples' children, thank you very much!
