Anyone here ever been a hippie? Or fucked one?

Take us on a countercultural technicolor dreamboat ride.

by Anonymousreply 48August 14, 2022 12:37 AM

No, even I am not that old. I knew a few. My understanding is that free love did not include gay sex. I remember a few being annoyed by the gay references in the musical HAIR! The thought they misrepresented the concept of free love. I have been told that the Radical Faeries grew, in part, from the exclusion of gays in the Hippie movement.

by Anonymousreply 1August 13, 2022 11:07 AM

When I first read the title of the thread, I thought it was "hippo" instead of "hippie."

by Anonymousreply 2August 13, 2022 11:09 AM

[quote]free love did not include gay sex.

Oh dear. So hippies were fascists with flowers in their hair?

There must have been an awful lot of tie-dyed longing.

by Anonymousreply 3August 13, 2022 11:11 AM

Right you are R1.

by Anonymousreply 4August 13, 2022 11:11 AM

Why is it interesting to have fucked a hippie?

I agree with "Chrissie Metz," in that a hippo would be more interesting.

I say this as someone who had sex with a few radical fairy types back in the 80s.

No hippos so far.

by Anonymousreply 5August 13, 2022 11:15 AM

Well, I was certainly fucked by a few men who smoked copious amounts of pot and opposed the Viet Nam war.

by Anonymousreply 6August 13, 2022 11:19 AM

R3, generalizations are never 100% accurate, but a great part of the Hippie/Free Love movement was emotionally blackmailing women to put out. There was a commune next to our compound in NH. Basically, the guys could have sex with any woman they wanted. If a woman resisted, there was basically a group bullying session. Of course women could make the first move and be the aggressor. Being an annoying ten year-old and asked if the guys could have sex with any woman, could they have sex with any guy. The response was disgust and "You're just a child. You don't understand."

by Anonymousreply 7August 13, 2022 11:20 AM

Hippies were very dirty. I wouldn't have wanted to fuck one. I'm sure they sported dingleberries and their crotch was rank.

by Anonymousreply 8August 13, 2022 11:25 AM

Suprisingly homophobic.

by Anonymousreply 9August 13, 2022 11:26 AM

Hey, which racist troll is Kaspar Hauser?

Is it Edna or whatever her name is?

The lady with the Santa Claus fetish?

The old Tory who worships that pedophile shitshow who claims he's "ex-gay?"

You're name is definitely apt for a troll.

by Anonymousreply 10August 13, 2022 11:27 AM

[quote]There was a commune next to our compound

Your COMPOUND? Were you raised in a cult?

by Anonymousreply 11August 13, 2022 11:29 AM

Hippies were mostly pre Stonewall or right after. So they were homophobic like the rest of society at the time.

by Anonymousreply 12August 13, 2022 11:30 AM

My siblings went through a hippy phase. Brother grew dreadlocks, became an environmentalist big time, grew weed (it's illegal here), the whole stereotypical shebang.

by Anonymousreply 13August 13, 2022 11:30 AM

I wanted to be a hippie and got stoned a lot but the sex wasn’t memorable. Nothing much was, because I got stoned a LOT.

by Anonymousreply 14August 13, 2022 11:33 AM

R11, no, a wealthy family. We had a summer place in NH. No hot water or electricity (cold showers are character building). Basically a private lake at the time. It has been developed now.

R10, what is your damage? Since I basically only post in the German threads or the Marionette and Puppet Shows thread, I have no idea what you mean.

by Anonymousreply 15August 13, 2022 11:47 AM

[quote]No hot water or electricity

I feel your childhood trauma. There's a very special place in Hell reserved for rich spartans.

by Anonymousreply 16August 13, 2022 11:55 AM

r7 It is alarming how quickly straight men from every sort of background skew toward "control of women" as their first action toward survival as a species.

Every straight man from D&D dorks to gym bros who only seem interested in the opinions of other men, if given a while to commiserate, will talk about how to best control women in order to save the human race from extinction and thereby save Earth. The conversations I have overheard were never about how to attract women, but always about how to take and keep women. It seems every straight man in the world is possessed of the impossible arrogance that just by their very heterosexuality, they are behooved to screw their lackluster genetics into a runway model.

Unfortunately, these dudes have plenty of historical evidence to back up this ridiculous claim. And there is no accounting for women who want to be part of a harem so that they never have to get up off their fat asses ever again.

I'm a lesbosexual lesbian who can't imagine anything more fun than a Themyscara situation where all I have to do is ride around on horses, shoot a bow and screw hot chicks all night. The gay and bisexual men I know and love and have real friendships with all tend to skew the same way but with all the D all the time.

Every single major religion (and I would love to learn that I am wrong) centers the degradation, demotion and servitude of women.

Thank Mother Nature for Samuel Colt, and it's high time more thinking women and thinking gay and bisexual men caught on to his sales slogan.

Equality can never be given.

by Anonymousreply 17August 13, 2022 12:57 PM

Good post r17

[Quote] Every single major religion (and I would love to learn that I am wrong) centers the degradation, demotion and servitude of women.

Not an authority by any means, but might one look to the animist nature worshipping religions before the Great Religions of the axial age?

by Anonymousreply 18August 13, 2022 1:17 PM

For those of you who were there when actual hippies existed your memory is fading regarding homophobic hippies. It was during the hippie movement when I first learned about gay and bisexual lifestyles and the openness and encouragement of all sexualitues. It was a time of sexual experiments and many straight hippies experiencing many different types of sex other than their perceived sexuality.

by Anonymousreply 19August 13, 2022 1:47 PM

My friends other brothers were hippies. One of them did come on to me although he had a girlfriend. He stank tho, as hippies tended to do. I did not take him up on the offer for that and other reasons.

by Anonymousreply 20August 13, 2022 2:00 PM

^ older brothers

by Anonymousreply 21August 13, 2022 2:01 PM

R19, that may be *your* experience, but it does not invalidate mine. While it is true that the Hippie movement paralleled the Gay Rights movement and the two intersected at times but they were not one. Unfortunately, I would say the relationship was more like the Republican Party and Log Cabin Republicans.

by Anonymousreply 22August 13, 2022 2:03 PM

It took a while before gay rights penetrated the counter culture movement.

Gay rights owed its origins more to the civil rights movement than to the counter culture, like other movements like women's and other minorities' also did.

by Anonymousreply 23August 13, 2022 2:54 PM

Hippies loved everyone

by Anonymousreply 24August 13, 2022 4:00 PM

Gay rights was not front and center or even existed in this movement (my experience R23). What was at the forefront was the unbiased attitude towards and freedom to express sex and love not based on perceived societal standards.

by Anonymousreply 25August 13, 2022 4:06 PM

R16 you reek of social envy.

by Anonymousreply 26August 13, 2022 4:11 PM

I always thought hippiedom was a product of the burgeoning white middle-class post WW2. Here you had a bunch of privileged white kids who were the first to probably experience a carefree childhood and modern day adolescence where they could sit around and gaze at their navels. They decided society was oppressive to them as young white suburban straight people (ignoring the struggles of minorities, gays and the urban and rural poor). And decided to fight back by running away to California and doing tons of drugs and sex. Appropriating Native American and Eastern cultures for fun and dumbing down the esoteric elements to make it a business Then once they got bored of it. Decided to move back to the suburbs and work 9 to 5 jobs and become yuppies. It didn't seem to accomplish anything besides making some good ass music.

Gay rights and women's rights had nothing to do with hippies. It had to do with Civil Rights movements that originated as far as the 1800s but got polarized again in the 1950s. Throughout the 1940s, these groups were monitored by the government and dubbed communist scum. Feminists, Homophiles and Black Panthers were not hippies. They were often educated and used their wealth and status to fight for their brethren even the working class.

by Anonymousreply 27August 13, 2022 4:13 PM

Of course girl on girl action was ok (as long as the women identified as bi, cause, how else will the men get into threesomes?)

by Anonymousreply 28August 13, 2022 4:15 PM

I love the Grateful Dead.

by Anonymousreply 29August 13, 2022 4:28 PM

Long haired skinny men are hot to me - don't judge - so some of my porn search terms are hippie, hippy, long hair, etc. Most, if not all, of the results I get are straight. I have, on occasion, enjoyed watching them and their long hair, taut bodies, and their big dicks.

If you have any gay search ideas for me I'd be grateful.

TIA

R17 and JG7 Absolute facts! I have even observed vocational rehabilitation counselors that were blaming disabled women for their own abuse, and other females in a dv agency blaming the disabled women for their own abuse and calling it provoked and defining it as mutual combat when the rest of society is permitted weight classes for fights. Realize that not everybody can own a gun, and there are some people that are physically weaker and weigh less than their partner and that has nothing to do with gender but the legal system seems to think that everything is mutual combat in order to reduce court costs .

So few people understand reality. And for those of us that care for horses all day, many are unable to form a relationship with “ mr colt” due to disability despite being able to run a farm. Should we need firepower just to exist? And if we can’t have that do we deserve to die?

by Anonymousreply 31August 13, 2022 4:45 PM

R27, not exactly. What isn't taught in schools is the extreme social engineering that was done by the government after WWII to basically turn "citizens" into "consumers", basically a dehumanized cog in the Capitalist machine. Schools were specifically zoned so walking to school or going home for lunch was impossible. New houses were zoned with large front yards which made stoop sitting with neighbors impossible and moved social interaction to the back yard. Home piecework was outlawed specifically so woman had to spend money on transportation, clothing, food, and child care. Planned obsolescence, where hemlines and waistlines were changed 1/4" every year to make clothing go out of date faster. Electronic repair shops being paid not to repair TVS, radios etc. The constant war to keep the war machine going.

Young people have great BS detectors and wanted no part of it. I honestly think many if not most young people really wanted a better world. They actually did some good. We would not be talking about the environment or have an awareness of what we eat without them.

by Anonymousreply 32August 13, 2022 4:47 PM

R32 Excellent point. I never thought of that.

by Anonymousreply 33August 13, 2022 6:08 PM

They didn’t understand the concept of bathing

by Anonymousreply 34August 13, 2022 6:11 PM

This thread is surprisingly depressing.

by Anonymousreply 35August 13, 2022 7:48 PM

Been one, no.

Fucked one, yes, a fair number actually. Not the late 1960s Haight-Ashbury generation of hippies. I was too young and then they were too old. But I became friends with hippie neighbors in college in the late 1970s and they were lovely people. They taught me hippie things like how to make your own granola (the smell of it being made is enough to convince a cynic); how to join the food co-op to assemble the ingredients to make granola, the nuances of herbal teas; how to find the best record stores and, after, we would try a new Indian restaurant until settling on a couple favorites. They would knock and ask if I wanted to drive, in a white hippie van, to a beach where we could collect really beautiful driftwood, but instead their more boho than hippie friends, a married straight couple, split up and I fucked with the husband and my straight roommate fucked with the wife. It was their thing, it turned out, and no doubt their plan, but hey, if it hadn't worked out they were hippie adjacent and everything is cool.

Years later I learned that the weed smoking yoga slacker-hippie-wannabes who did yoga had great flexibility and stamina and fucked like rabbits, had more weed, and were up for it again.

Later generation hippies are better still, with their make-your-old jewelry, their tattoos and piercings and ability to traverse slacklines and play a half dozen instruments and sing well enough to get laid every night. They often have a sly sexiness about them and know the oddest bits of trivia and ephemeral knowledge, are sweet and polite and dirty in bed and fuck like animals and then sing you a song. What's not to like?

by Anonymousreply 36August 13, 2022 8:39 PM

Yes, OP. I sucked and was sucked by hippies. It was a different time... Free love, I was a teen. They wanted to get off. So did I.

My first lesbian friend was a hippie. She was odd for a hippie, though. She smoked no dope at all, whereas that was my reason for living at the time. I’m pretty sure I owe her some serious amends. I was a fucking mess.

by Anonymousreply 41August 13, 2022 10:34 PM

Oh...my...gawd, do NOT get me started. I'm waiting for the Mission: Impossible episodes to cycle back to the Barbara Bain ones, because of course. I'm in the Lesley (no Ann) Warren stretch which...is...the... worst. I just wanna slap her. The other night she was this hippie chick singer and she sang some kind of....I don't know, some kind of hippie song and...I did... I just wanted to slap her. Ugh. I'm sorry, OP. I saw hippie in your title and it triggered me.

I hope your incoherent babbling helped ease the pain, R42.

by Anonymousreply 43August 13, 2022 10:56 PM

I do, r43, thank you. I feel *much* better. Although I still have the Lynda Day George episodes to get through.

by Anonymousreply 44August 13, 2022 10:59 PM

Do you include guys who smoked pot and were were obsessed with The Doors in college in the 90s because of the movie as hippies?

by Anonymousreply 45August 13, 2022 11:03 PM

I think they were part of the grunge movement, R45. Were they also into Nirvana and Pearl Jam?

by Anonymousreply 46August 13, 2022 11:05 PM

Are you hitting on me r31? Because I'm totally picking up what you're putting down.

You bring the horses, I'll bring the guns.

Butch Cassidy indeed.
