I don’t watch the Tonight Show, so I have not seen Jimmy since his Saturday night live days, but is he special needs or something? He is so unbearable and unwatchable on this new Password show, he is overacting the entire time and can’t stay in his seat for more than five seconds.

I love Password but this version was too loud and frenetic for my taste. But I'm sure they're not catering to my eldergay ass.

The fourth episode was a little calmer, but it’s still too frantic and frenetic.

I miss game show hosts who were real game show hosts, like Peter Marshall and Gene Rayburn. They knew better than to try to upstage the contestants. Fallon’s a manic attention whore on the level of Chuck Barris, except less funny.

Years ago Jimmy had a bad coke problem. He kicked it but is still too manic.

R11, I think he is just hyperactive. He was born before the era when they started medicating hyperactive kids.

With him also hosting his nightly show, he'll probably eventually cut back on the Password appearances.

Fallon is "inshufferable," as Lizsha would shay.

He initially appeared on his other show, Lip Sync Battle, but stopped after one appearance.

Don't care what anyone says, Fallon looks great for his age 47. He'll be 48 next month and having that terrible coke habit years ago, he looks damn good. Lots of people much younger than Fallon look like absolute shit.

If he's still drinking heavily, well, he looks amazing for an alcoholic!

R17, how bad could his addiction have been if he has always worked steadily in Hollywood since he got the SNL job at age 23?

He never spiraled out of control like Robert Downey Jr. or Ben Affleck.

Never crashed a car, got arrested, got divorced or got fired from a project and as you point out he is near 50.

Yes, he had that hand injury going back a few years ago and a few months there where he seemed he might have been drinking too much. But never had to go to rehab like a John Mulaney.

I don't see how he was a major train wreck at any point in his past.

He has an Irish teflon liver. Also, he probably drinks in excess to take the edge off his inborn hyperactivity. I’m not sure why manics like him do coke; maybe it helps them focus, like taking Ritalin would.

His parents allowed him to drink at home as a teen because they thought it was safer than him doing it elsewhere.

He is still terrible as a password player; he guesses and gives the clues OK but his unhinged reaction to every correct answer is nearly unwatchable.

The celebrity Password panelists were much more subdued back in the day, R26. None of the “look at me” attention whores.

Are they just doing the original 50s password without the puzzle or the bonus round? Those were by far the best parts.

There is a bonus round, but this version is much closer to the original than any other version. It is loud and frantic, but I think that appeals to modern audiences. Keke is okay, she wouldn't have been my choice, but she tests well with audiences.

They do a version of alphabetics at the end so the contestant can win up to $25,000.

If there is a tie, they do a version of the puzzle as a tiebreaker.

No lightning round, though.

How sober does one have to be to film Password? It's not advanced calculus.

I wouldn't turn it down, but $25,000 isn't a big prize. At least compared to some of the ABC game shows. I'm assuming they have to pay more for the celebrity panelists, which comes out of the prize money. Jon Hamm isn't doing a game show for scale.

R31 I literally don’t know any different - I used to watch Super Password whenever I was home with my grandmother when I was like 7/8 - and then Password Plus on GSN. I don’t care with the original format at all, really.

Unless they're all doing a favor for Jimmy, I think the PW celebrities are getting paid more than regular game show appearance fees. Look at the level of celebrity on PW versus the Pyramid and To Tell the Truth over on ABC.

Celebs go on talk shows because it's often contractually required, right? I would think going on a game show would fulfill those types of requirements. It helps to promote their projects.

Fallon should produce and star in a reboot of Match Game instead since the celebrity panel was habitually drunk on that show.

The show is just a centerpiece for Jimmy. Why else is he a permanent panelist?!

My favorite of the recent game show reboots was Match Game in ABC. Alec was a great host. But after his incident, it's probably never coming back.

R55 Because it was one of several injuries he suffered in a four month span and network execs were getting worried. The hand injury was especially nasty and it was a wake-up call.

I had to turn it off for this very reason. Everyone screaming, shrieking, etc., after every single correct answer. It was like they gave all the competitors, celebs and Keke gallons of Red Bull and endless lines of coke before the show, and the whole thing was ALL CAPS ALL THE TIME..
