Why do networks insist on hiring the worst people for this kind of shit, people they already employ for other shows? Is it cheaper or are they just lazy?
Jimmy Fallon Is Hosting the Revival of “Password”
by Anonymous | reply 63 | August 22, 2022 7:54 PM |
I don’t watch the Tonight Show, so I have not seen Jimmy since his Saturday night live days, but is he special needs or something? He is so unbearable and unwatchable on this new Password show, he is overacting the entire time and can’t stay in his seat for more than five seconds.
by Anonymous | reply 1 | August 19, 2022 12:45 AM |
ABC’s game show revivals are actually good unlike this Fallon fail
by Anonymous | reply 2 | August 19, 2022 12:49 AM |
I thought it was Keke Palmer. This story says he is the celebrity contestant.
by Anonymous | reply 3 | August 19, 2022 1:05 AM |
I love Password but this version was too loud and frenetic for my taste. But I'm sure they're not catering to my eldergay ass.
by Anonymous | reply 4 | August 19, 2022 1:12 AM |
Jimmy Fallon? Hard pass.
by Anonymous | reply 5 | August 19, 2022 1:13 AM |
The fourth episode was a little calmer, but it’s still too frantic and frenetic.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | August 19, 2022 1:15 AM |
I miss game show hosts who were real game show hosts, like Peter Marshall and Gene Rayburn. They knew better than to try to upstage the contestants. Fallon’s a manic attention whore on the level of Chuck Barris, except less funny.
by Anonymous | reply 7 | August 19, 2022 6:03 AM |
Money grab
by Anonymous | reply 8 | August 19, 2022 6:05 AM |
As R3 correctly points out, Jimmy is not the host, OP. He is just a contestant.
Keke Palmer is the host.

Jimmy Fallon and Keke Palmer’s ‘Password’ Reboot Ratings Rise 43% With Digital Viewing Post-NBC Premiere
by Anonymous | reply 10 | August 20, 2022 8:09 AM |
Thought Jimmy Fallon was just there as a producer.
Years ago Jimmy had a bad coke problem. He kicked it but is still too manic.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | August 20, 2022 8:15 AM |
R11, I think he is just hyperactive. He was born before the era when they started medicating hyperactive kids.
With him also hosting his nightly show, he'll probably eventually cut back on the Password appearances.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | August 20, 2022 8:20 AM |
Fallon is "inshufferable," as Lizsha would shay.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | August 20, 2022 8:25 AM |
He initially appeared on his other show, Lip Sync Battle, but stopped after one appearance.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | August 20, 2022 8:36 AM |
I would like to chow down on his asshole
by Anonymous | reply 15 | August 20, 2022 8:36 AM |
Irish ham
by Anonymous | reply 16 | August 20, 2022 12:13 PM |
Don't care what anyone says, Fallon looks great for his age 47. He'll be 48 next month and having that terrible coke habit years ago, he looks damn good. Lots of people much younger than Fallon look like absolute shit.
If he's still drinking heavily, well, he looks amazing for an alcoholic!
by Anonymous | reply 17 | August 20, 2022 10:46 PM |
R17, how bad could his addiction have been if he has always worked steadily in Hollywood since he got the SNL job at age 23?
He never spiraled out of control like Robert Downey Jr. or Ben Affleck.
Never crashed a car, got arrested, got divorced or got fired from a project and as you point out he is near 50.
Yes, he had that hand injury going back a few years ago and a few months there where he seemed he might have been drinking too much. But never had to go to rehab like a John Mulaney.
I don't see how he was a major train wreck at any point in his past.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | August 20, 2022 10:56 PM |
He has an Irish teflon liver. Also, he probably drinks in excess to take the edge off his inborn hyperactivity. I’m not sure why manics like him do coke; maybe it helps them focus, like taking Ritalin would.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | August 20, 2022 10:57 PM |
His parents allowed him to drink at home as a teen because they thought it was safer than him doing it elsewhere.
by Anonymous | reply 20 | August 20, 2022 11:03 PM |
He is still terrible as a password player; he guesses and gives the clues OK but his unhinged reaction to every correct answer is nearly unwatchable.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | August 20, 2022 11:42 PM |
R20 that’s actually smart and more American parents should take that approach.
by Anonymous | reply 22 | August 21, 2022 12:08 AM |
R22 not so great if the family has a history of alcoholism.
by Anonymous | reply 23 | August 21, 2022 12:12 AM |
The password is 'lame.'
by Anonymous | reply 24 | August 21, 2022 12:19 AM |
The show is all about the celebrities & the very loud audience. I’ll watch the episodes from the ‘60s on YouTube, instead.
by Anonymous | reply 25 | August 21, 2022 12:25 AM |
Wasn't the show always about the celebrities?
by Anonymous | reply 26 | August 21, 2022 12:26 AM |
Go to around the 6:50 mark to watch comedian Drew Michael take aim at Jimmy Fallon.
by Anonymous | reply 27 | August 21, 2022 12:30 AM |
The celebrity Password panelists were much more subdued back in the day, R26. None of the “look at me” attention whores.
by Anonymous | reply 28 | August 21, 2022 12:40 AM |
Wow, Drew Michael has 7 thousand YouTube followers, R27
With 30 million YT subscribers, that must sting Fallon!
by Anonymous | reply 29 | August 21, 2022 12:43 AM |
Are they just doing the original 50s password without the puzzle or the bonus round? Those were by far the best parts.
by Anonymous | reply 30 | August 21, 2022 12:54 AM |
^ Never liked the puzzle format introduced in Password Plus.
by Anonymous | reply 31 | August 21, 2022 1:00 AM |
There is a bonus round, but this version is much closer to the original than any other version. It is loud and frantic, but I think that appeals to modern audiences. Keke is okay, she wouldn't have been my choice, but she tests well with audiences.
by Anonymous | reply 32 | August 21, 2022 1:03 AM |
They do a version of alphabetics at the end so the contestant can win up to $25,000.
If there is a tie, they do a version of the puzzle as a tiebreaker.
No lightning round, though.
by Anonymous | reply 33 | August 21, 2022 1:03 AM |
R29 - that was on HBO
by Anonymous | reply 34 | August 21, 2022 1:04 AM |
Loved the OG Password, but Jimmy Fallon sucks. Will they be able to keep him sober long enough to film?
by Anonymous | reply 35 | August 21, 2022 1:05 AM |
How sober does one have to be to film Password? It's not advanced calculus.
by Anonymous | reply 36 | August 21, 2022 1:06 AM |
I wouldn't turn it down, but $25,000 isn't a big prize. At least compared to some of the ABC game shows. I'm assuming they have to pay more for the celebrity panelists, which comes out of the prize money. Jon Hamm isn't doing a game show for scale.
by Anonymous | reply 37 | August 21, 2022 1:07 AM |
R37, isn't it likely he is only getting scale? Like he would for a Tonight Show appearance?
by Anonymous | reply 38 | August 21, 2022 1:10 AM |
R37 I always wondered how much celebs got paid for those shows. It’s the one thing I’ve never had a clue.
R31 I literally don’t know any different - I used to watch Super Password whenever I was home with my grandmother when I was like 7/8 - and then Password Plus on GSN. I don’t care with the original format at all, really.
by Anonymous | reply 39 | August 21, 2022 1:14 AM |
[R37], isn't it likely he is only getting scale?
Unless they're all doing a favor for Jimmy, I think the PW celebrities are getting paid more than regular game show appearance fees. Look at the level of celebrity on PW versus the Pyramid and To Tell the Truth over on ABC.
by Anonymous | reply 40 | August 21, 2022 1:17 AM |
Celebs go on talk shows because it's often contractually required, right? I would think going on a game show would fulfill those types of requirements. It helps to promote their projects.
by Anonymous | reply 41 | August 21, 2022 1:22 AM |
Fallon should produce and star in a reboot of Match Game instead since the celebrity panel was habitually drunk on that show.
by Anonymous | reply 42 | August 21, 2022 1:49 AM |
Hey…!
by Anonymous | reply 43 | August 21, 2022 1:56 AM |
NO ONE ASKED FOR THIS!
by Anonymous | reply 44 | August 21, 2022 3:18 AM |
Network anything cater to the lowest common denominator. It’s like watching a kid’s show. So embarrassing.
by Anonymous | reply 45 | August 21, 2022 3:44 AM |
The show is just a centerpiece for Jimmy. Why else is he a permanent panelist?!
by Anonymous | reply 46 | August 21, 2022 5:59 AM |
My favorite of the recent game show reboots was Match Game in ABC. Alec was a great host. But after his incident, it's probably never coming back.
by Anonymous | reply 47 | August 21, 2022 6:12 AM |
r30 Password started in the '60s, not the '50s.
by Anonymous | reply 48 | August 21, 2022 1:07 PM |
R46, I don't think it's certain that he is a permanent panelist yet. Too soon to tell.
by Anonymous | reply 49 | August 21, 2022 1:46 PM |
^ Well, he is one of the panelists the first five episodes.
by Anonymous | reply 50 | August 21, 2022 2:05 PM |
When are they bringing back Match Game?
by Anonymous | reply 51 | August 21, 2022 2:12 PM |
R51, they'll bring it back after Alec drops dead. You won't have to wait long because years were taken off his life due to "the incident".
by Anonymous | reply 52 | August 21, 2022 2:27 PM |
Love Fallon. His hyperactivity is part of his appeal.
by Anonymous | reply 53 | August 21, 2022 2:47 PM |
That handsome, wiglet wearing Jon Hamm must be hurting for money. Does he sign people up for Progressive Insurance during the commercial breaks?
by Anonymous | reply 54 | August 21, 2022 2:56 PM |
[quote]Yes, he had that hand injury going back a few years ago
I never understood the interest in the hand injury. Why was it considered more than a mere 'hand injury'?
by Anonymous | reply 55 | August 21, 2022 4:06 PM |
R55 Because it was one of several injuries he suffered in a four month span and network execs were getting worried. The hand injury was especially nasty and it was a wake-up call.
by Anonymous | reply 56 | August 21, 2022 6:29 PM |
The drunk has a late night talkshow. That is enough.
by Anonymous | reply 58 | August 21, 2022 7:24 PM |
Many talk show hosts have been alkies. It's an old tradition.
by Anonymous | reply 59 | August 21, 2022 8:12 PM |
[quote]I love Password but this version was too loud and frenetic for my taste
I had to turn it off for this very reason. Everyone screaming, shrieking, etc., after every single correct answer. It was like they gave all the competitors, celebs and Keke gallons of Red Bull and endless lines of coke before the show, and the whole thing was ALL CAPS ALL THE TIME..
by Anonymous | reply 60 | August 21, 2022 10:42 PM |
R56 I wasn't a dedicated fan so I didn't know about 'other injuries.' Thanks.
by Anonymous | reply 61 | August 22, 2022 2:10 PM |
[quote]Everyone screaming, shrieking, etc.
This applies to just about every show (game show, talk show--whatever) with a live audience. They are unwatchable.
