Padres star Fernando Tatis Jr. suspended 80 games after testing positive for PED
San Diego Padres shortstop Fernando Tatis Jr. has been suspended for 80 games after testing positive for Clostebol, a performance-enhancing substance in violation of Major League Baseball's Joint Drug Prevention and Treatment Program.
Tatis' suspension, announced by MLB on Friday, is effective immediately, meaning the All-Star shortstop cannot play in the majors this year. In a statement, Tatis said he is not appealing the ban as it was his "mistake" that led to the positive test.

So, he went to Europe to buy anti-fungal cream that he could have bought at CVS for $9.99?

This is an anabolic that’s been used many times before by pro-athletes. Another baseball player was suspended for 80 games for the same steroid back in 2016, I think.

What complicates clostebol cases is that it’s possible to test positive from contaminated meat (it’s used in some countries to fatten cattle) or over-the-counter antibiotic creams. The FDA does not allow U.S. products to include clostebol acetate, but it is listed as an active ingredient in creams sold in Europe and Central and South America.

Clostebol doesn’t convert to DHT, and has a low estrogen conversion rate.
