Anyone remember Billy The Gay Doll? You had to be 21+ to buy him
He was one of the very first gay dolls to be released. He originated in 1993 as a 17 inch limited edition latex doll built over wire armatures, but in 1996 he was commercially manufactured until 2002.
Tons of Billy Dolls were made within that time, like Wrestling Ken, UPS Ken, Farmer Ken, or even Billy dolls in drag.
In 1998, two years later, Carlos, Billy‘s Hispanic boyfriend, was introduced.
Then in 2000 Tyson, their bestie, was introduced.
The dolls stopped being made in 2002 and most are hard to find now.
I always wanted one. I think it’s hysterical how big they made their dicks lol. Even in doll form gay men’s expectations are unreal.

They even did a gay porn film called Billy 2000. One of my very favorite scenes with Thom Barron & Brian Daniels. Thom Barron is the doll that comes to life for that sex.

R14 Gay Bob was the very first gay doll. He came out almost 20 years before Billy, in 1977. I believe it was all over by 1978, when politicians and activists were fighting hard against LGBT people.
“In 1978, the Daytona Beach Morning Journal covered the formation of Protect America's Children, an anti-gay organization under Anita Bryant ministries. In the article, Rowe explains that he was recruited to head the group by Bryant after she read his book "Save America" which urges Christians to " get off the church pews and into the life of the nation." Daytona Beach Morning Journal. May 11,1978
So, where does the Gay Bob doll fit into all this? Bryant’s anti-gay crusade gained widespread media attention and sparked campaigns in other states. Protect America’s Children was an offshoot of Bryant’s business/ministries lead by Executive Director Edward Rowe, originally from Los Angeles. Rowe called the Gay Bob dolls, “evidence of the desperation of the homosexual campaign has reached in its effort to put the homosexual lifestyle, which is a deathstyle, across to the American people. I can only hope that the children who are given these Gay Bob dolls will not comprehend the meaning and intent of the campaign that is behind their manufacture and distribution.”
This all led to the demise of the doll, even though it was a doll that most stores wouldn’t carry to begin with. It wasn’t sold at toy stores etc. because none would carry it. It could only be bought via mail-in, and there were some independent shops in NYC and San Francisco who carried it.
His box was designed as a closet, because when you take him out of the package you’re literally taking him out of the closet.
After 1978, Bob would be the only gay doll ever until Billy in the 90s.

Every trend-chasing basic bitch gay of a certain age had a Billy doll on a shelf next to the Sex book, and a Phantom mask on the wall behind it.

R25 doubtful. Where the doll was sold is documented. It was banned from most of the country.
It wasn’t even sold in Los Angeles. Only San Francisco in California, as far as stores go.
