A tiktok account last year cast doubt on my understanding of the Anne Heche timeline. Melissa Petaras is the twice married, currently engaged, v. funny lesbian "laundry lady" on tiktok. Her first marriage ended when Anne Heche, newly split from Ellen, was filming on location and asked out Petaras's wife. Apparently Petaras's wife was sneaking around with Anne for a bit before asking Petaras - "Hey, can I date Anne Heche?" Petaras declined "permission" and the marrriage ended, as did whatever fling occurred between Heche and Petaras's ex. Petaras has a lot of crazy stories about her marriages, her childhood, etc. and this was just one of them. She appears to be oblivious to the impression that Anne Heche gave up the girls when she broke up with Ellen for Cory Laffoon. Heche is just a minor character in an anecdote from Petaras's life.

I don't know if Petaras refers to her first wife in the legal sense (cause this would have been about 20 years ago) or in the shorthand sense since her second marriage actually was a legal marriage.

I also looked up the story about Heche being abused by her father. It's very very hard to determine because so much gaslighting exists around the subject, victims are painted as an unreliable narrator, etc., but here Anne herself says she is emphasizing it happened "in my memory" as she isn't 100% certain. This is concurrent with her talk about living in a fully imaginary world.

She had a legal scuffle with her ex-partner James Tupper when she claimed he locked her out of the home they shared during each's turn with their kid. Maybe Tupper is just mind-fucking her in his legal response but he's all - the locks were never changed, the code has been what it is for years, and her other child let himself into the house no problem same day she claims I locked her out. I think this statement is meant to imply that POLICE did not obtain blood samples from her at the time of the incident as they do in most DUI arrests. Of course the ER drew labs and toxicology on a trauma admission. Law enforcement will have to obtain a warrant to get access to those results if they plan to pursue charges against her.

My take:

Anne Heche suffers from genuine mental illness and addictions, but is simultaneously a massive liar who always positions herself as the victim when her romantic relationships blow up. Steve Martin controlled her, Ellen wanted to control her, her hubby was taking too much of her money, James Tupper was gaslighting and swindling her over who owns the house, etc. I'm sure it was Thomas Jane's turn if she hadn't driven her car into someone's house. She's always the feisty rebel who escapes anyone who wants to curb her freedom.

I'm always like - what is this about? When I read her emphasizing her father SA-ing her as a child was only her memory and she cannot validate that it actually happened but it IS her memory. Her father was dead at the time and beyond suing her so WTF?

So we had to endure one long manic episode after the other and it was exhausting and frightening. She was verbally and sometimes physically abusive. When the manic episode ended she went into a dark depression. She would be humiliated by her behavior during the manic episode. It reminded me of an alcoholic who goes into a blackout and acts out. They always feel ashamed and regretful. Guilty. It is the most heartbreaking mental illness I have ever experienced. The only person I would ever wish it on is trump. Everyone suffers greatly, but none more thsn the bipolar in denial. They are very difficult to love because they know just what to say to cut you like a knife. After verbally removing your heart they get angry and offended if you do not immediately forgive them. It is an emotional rollercoaster of hell.

If her lungs are compromised, her odds aren't good. The superheated, chemical-laden fumes from a fire can do horrible things to the delicate tissues of a human lung, and anyone with severe burns is in danger of the cascade of shock-induced multiple organ failure. I can only hope they can keep her pain under control, but FYI that can be very difficult with someone with addictions.

She said to the doctor, this is why I asked you for the Valium, and he still said she didn’t need it. They both treated her contemptuously.

What the hell is wrong with doctors who won’t give anyone pain relief in a circumstance like this? She needed literally one pill, no one is going to become a drug addict from that. Years ago I witnessed a fatal car accident. The idiot was coming down a bridge at a very high rate of speed and swerving all over the place, barely missing other cars, and even caused a minor accident when one car swerved to avoid him. Anyway, at the bottom of this bridge there's a slight curve - which he didn't make. He slammed into a huge elm tree in the boulevard and was killed instantly. Metres down the road from the tree was an intersection and when I came across it mere seconds later a group of people were crossing. If that asshole hadn't hit that tree, he would have killed those innocent people out for a walk on a nice summer night.

Another incident I was involved in was through my workplace. A moron was speeding down the highway in the middle of a snowstorm and actually hit the side of a moving freight train. Witnesses said the driver was previously weaving in and out of traffic and speeding when he should have been driving under the speed limit given the conditions of the highway at the time. The train crew didn't even realize they'd been hit (the impact was thousands of metres behind their engine). On the other side of that crossing were people who'd pulled over to the side of the road to wait for the snow to subside and they, along with a person who was behind the speeding car, were the ones who reported the accident to the authorities. I fully believe that if he hadn't hit that train he would have slammed into the people on the other side of the crossing who were waiting for conditions to improve.

Who knows what would have happened if Anne hadn't hit that house when she did? Her driving into that house could well have saved the life of innocent people. I'm sorry she's going to die, but it's better that she's the one with terrible physical injuries than anyone else. Just look at that asshole nurse. We all agree that she's the one who should have been killed instead of those innocent people.

For those who might not know: Anne's father was a closeted man who had died of AIDS, a fact that drove Anne to always pursue truths in her way. She certainly broke tradition by holding hands with Ellen DeGeneres at a movie premiere back when that was hardly done. Groundbreaking can't begin to describe it. Last year, I enjoyed being the guest on her podcast about forgiveness (a long story). More recently, I wrote about how costume designer Ami Goodheart had become her soulmate.
