That's a pretty sure way of killing yourself, but it has two drawbacks. First, it leaves a huge mess to be cleaned up, so it's a pretty cruel thing to leave your survivors with. Also, in the rare cases where it goes wrong (such as if you flinch just as you pull the trigger) you can end up with terrible brain damage but alive.

Well, luckily Naomi pulled it off.

The real question is why did her husband keep guns in the house with her history of mental illness and talk of suicide. If my spouse were suicidal I’d remove or lock up anything that could be lethal from our home, from Ajax to AR15s. Or I’d have one of her frau or fairy fans watching her when I wasn’t around.

I read her autobiography. Larry / husband did have a gun collection that he locked up at one point. Naomi said that she set one gun aside. I guess Larry did not do a complete inventory when he locked up his collection. Anyway, considering all he did for her, I wouldn't blame him if a woman hell-bent on killing herself did kill herself.

OP: maybe I’m late to the suicidal party here, but how do you know she stuck a gun in her mouth to do it?

Side note, my mentally ill neighbor who lived below me killed herself this way-i was home and I didn’t hear a thing.

R5 That would have made him less of a man, to get rid of guns. What would his redneck friends/relatives have thought? Now he's able to leave guns strewn all over the house, have tons of independent money, and lots of pity. What a win for him.

My brother-in-law’s girlfriend’s husband (BIL’s gf was married and cheating with BIL) attempted a dramatic suicide on the front porch of his house by sticking a rifle in his mouth while his “wife” was present.

“I’ll kill myself because you’re still cheating on me”—“No you won’t!”—“Watch me!”.

Authentic redneck alcoholic drama at its finest.

He failed, initially. Blew off his entire bottom jaw and all the stuff that goes with it. It took a month for him to die in the hospital. Wife/gf was unmoved by the gesture and would bring BIL along with her/suicide guy’s daughters to the hospital to visit him.

The moral of the story is probably buried in here somewhere.

News says she made her husband executor of her estate. Daughters are not even successor executors. Husband will get everything.

The ONLY reason not to mention her daughters was to reach from beyond the grave and slap ‘em. Most normal people would say the estate goes to their kids after their spouse dies. No mention of that—he gets to do whatever the hell he wants with her estate.

Even if he’s a great guy, and gives it to them when he dies, there’s no way in hell those girls will ever let this go! There will be books! Oprah interviews! TV movies!

I think Ashley had a better relationship with Naomi than Wy had with Naomi. Both Ashley & Wy have houses on the same or neighboring properties as Naomi. It's 1,000 acres, all counted, per Daily Mail. I always thought that the sisters owned their pieces of land, but the DM article says it's not clear (sounds like Naomi may own the entire plot of land).

DM article says that Wy got married in 2012 and didn't invited Naomi and Ashley. Ashley accused (in court) Wy of putting a tracking device on A's vehicle. I think that happened during the time when Wy was having child custody issues and Ashley may have had custody of Wy's child(ren).
