Why do we need a new term here? What happened to gay?
Uring was the previous term... In Oscar Wilde's days the love of your uranus conquered all.

The fact that say this was created on tumblr is low hanging fruit...
I tracked trends in tumblr's early years and the bulk were literally tween girls coming up with all this in the same way they roleplay anime characters.. you had a few academics key into it and it became the next academic craze but this kind of shit has existed in many different groups, academic and otherwise, for generations...
We could looka t this trend as the opposing side of "satanic panic" as in this case it was thoroughly embraced because it was coming from their little darlings themselves.... and because it was primarily female led it didn't raise as many flags. Initially, parents were thrilled with this because they little girls were staying little girls longer with make believe games than seeking out boys and 'adult' situations that used to be called coming of age milestones. until it combined with the self diagnoses element and spilled over into college with socially retarded people claiming to be trans autistic... and even then most people refused to intervene because it was isolated to campuses and a few activist events. It hadn't infected the real world yet.
Now while there was definitely an undercurrent of a grievance culture that popped up from time to time, it was nothing quite like this. . . with anti-bullying laws in strict effect, there was really no way of organically stopping it.
But now the pendulum is swinging back to the other extreme. . . and unfortunately, without a period of rest between.

We Primosexuals are only sexually attracted to cisgendered people whose current car odometer readings are scorchingly seductive prime numbers. We are, however, only romantically attracted to those with composite numbers on their odometers. Those with no auto need not apply.
As you might imagine, we don’t date much.

“The term was initially coined in 2017 by Tumblr user loud-and-queer, alongside its masculine counterpart, “neptunic”.“
And this is the major project with this trans ideology. It was created by nobodies on an internet platform. It’s not based on psychology, science, or education. These people could be teenagers and they probably were.
Democrats and liberals are basically basing their ideas off awkward teenagers rambling on an Internet forum.
And it’s scary how much people take this seriously.
Uranic sexuality is also known as nonfemsexual. The term refers to the attraction to cisgender, transgender, masculine-presenting non-binary individuals
Here are a few alternative micro-labels [bold]often[/bold] used in the LGBTQ community: Marsic: Refers to non-binary folks who are exclusively attracted to men or male-aligned identities, Mascic: An umbrella term describing a general non-straight attraction to men, Nowomasexual: Describes an attraction to all genders except binary women
"Often" is doing a lot of lifting there.

R4 Well now DID is the new big thing. It’s not just about making up genders, it’s about inventing multiple personalities. That seems to be the big wave with the purple haired weirdos today on TikTok.
Which is very telling of why the trans agenda is so homophobic is because these kids see gender and orientation as a weirdness / illness / etc which is why they’ve moved in fetishizing autism and DID.

r10 or even just regular "trans:" -- it has to be a special flavor but that goes to the war between the dysphoria trans and the non-dysphoria crowd, i.e. the self diagnostic crowd that pulled the same stunt with autism and a variety of mental health condtions and rare physical conditions. it also gave birth to the trend of people intentionally blinding or amputating themselves, otherkin/therian (people that hate furries but believe they are animals), -- of course, anti-trans care not for this history nor make distinctions... so, it's all one and the same to them. The trans groups largely went underground while this rebranded crowd pushed forward.
If you were gay and into the fringe pub scene, you likely ran into a few... The radical shift in policies at the Eagle (if I recall D.C.'s was the first) was the result of a nonbinary feminist that lodged a lawsuit. Likewise also taking out several motorcycle clubs among other fringes of the gay community.
I was also aware of it happening more in black lesbian groups, which my friend would have described akin to "If These Walls Could Talk 2" where the college girls go to the lesbian bar after being run off campus and hate everything about it. Except in her mind, they were largely str8 girls looking for community in all the wrong places and most of the wrong ways... the black lesbian community to the greater lesbian community can seem like active players in this as they, too, use African American specific terms to describe their experiences from feminism to homosexuality.. and the problems of living in parallel cultures -- largely the same as the mainstream but just tastes of a different flavor. .. and largely invisible to people outside of it.
As gay/str8/whatever, things like this affect the fringes until they eventually move from peripheral view into the mainstream.
I had some experiences with this kind of craziness brewing decades earlier when I was with a mixed advocacy group that initially was about building bridges between communities but 9/11 sent them down the passive aggressive and microaggression route til it was a shell of what it is. Of course, non profits in general are pretty sleazy. I twas the trend, it went from being an organization that could barely pull in five digits to regularly pulling in six figures with that move.
So, the cultural shift was coming... but it was only a guess at that point what the catalyst would be.

R19 I mean I’m a 35 year old millennial and came from the “I’m bisexual” or “I don’t like labels” generation to disguise homosexuality. And that’s what it was. You said those things to soften the blows of the taboo of being gay, which from 2001-2005, was definitely not very acceptable in high school unless you had theater kid friends to confess to. I came out in high school, I think I was the only fully open gay kid who admitted it but it did start with “I’m bisexual” when I was 14 and I was openly gay by 16.
These kids today did what kids used to do on steroids and switch everything around to confuse everyone and it branched off into a big trendy scene.

Actually, no, I don't think many people take this seriously. It gets a lot of coverage in the media because media people are always looking for the next big thing and so they grasp at straws. But most people aren't paying attention. (Who reads Queerty?)
But it's definitely true that these Gen Z types always need to be special and have their own identity/label and they're happy to make something up if they need to.

Uranian (from Ancient Greek Αφροδίτη Ουράνια; Aphrodite Urania) is a historical term for homosexual men. The word was also used as an adjective in association with male homosexuality or inter-male attraction regardless of sexual orientation.
An early use of the term appears in Friedrich Schiller's 'Sixth Letter' in the Aesthetic Education of Man (1795–96). Schiller claims that state institutions are so jealous they would rather share their servants with a Cytherean Venus than a Uranian Venus.[1] The term was used by activist Karl Heinrich Ulrichs in a series of five booklets from 1864 to 1865 collected under the title Forschungen über das Räthsel der mannmännlichen Liebe (The Riddle of Man–Manly Love).[2] The term uranian was adopted by English-language advocates of homosexual emancipation in the Victorian era, such as Edward Carpenter and John Addington Symonds, who used it to describe a comradely love that would bring about true democracy.[3][4] Oscar Wilde once wrote to his lover Robert Ross in an undated letter, "To have altered my life would have been to have admitted that uranian love is ignoble. I hold it to be noble—more noble than other forms."[5]

It all started with the queer shit. Straight girls dyed their hair purple and said they were queer, and suddenly all gay and lesbian reality was sidelined, to make way for the problems of straight girls, with purple hair.

It does seem about straight people writing themselves into the narrative, claiming queer/bent identities, when they are just straight people.

by Anonymous | reply 52 | August 2, 2022 9:07 AM |
Right R52, the gay erasure, this is their subtle way of saying that perhaps gayness is not gay, perhaps you are just attracted to "masc presenting people" and even if you're not, even if they need to be actual men, you're still going to wear this identity because we don't say "gay" anymore, I guess. How very De Santis of the left. The fukcing T's came in in this Trojan horse and now you all have to redefine yourselves.

They're MOronic. Here's a flag. I could barely struggle through this word salad, but the gist of it seems to be "no fems," though vaginas are welcome so long as they're on a bearded humanoid named Jax with male-patterned baldness, stubble, and mastectomy scars. Are the fey fellas pictured supposed to represent masculine attributes?
Nowomasexual: Describes an attraction to all genders except binary women
I feel I dodged a bullet there. But why is it okay to exclude women but not trans? Nevermind, we all know why..
R4 I spent a lot of time on tumblr about 10 years ago, and what was fun at first got massively mad very soon. I mostly reblogged stuff and tried to stay clear of any political discussions. In 2012, this was easy. By 2010, it was impossible. Everything was political. But since they banned porn, Tumblr is wholly irrelevant anyway. It's fitting that all they do there now is theorise about sexual orientation and gender identity while they banned the actual sex for being offensive.
by Anonymous | reply 56 | August 2, 2022 2:35 PM |
R56 Except binary women? What the fuck is a binary woman? I mean, we are all on the binary but what is their distinction? As opposed to a woman who says she's non binary? Make it fucking make sense, please. I mean you could say you're a non binary man so would that mean the uranic people are not attracted to you because you own your xy chromosomes and admit to what the blind can see?
by Anonymous | reply 57 | August 2, 2022 2:41 PM |
Aren't they idiots R54? What can possibly be more fem than having a vagina.
by Anonymous | reply 58 | August 2, 2022 2:55 PM |
R58 According to the article: "The term sees the most use within enby or non-binary circles, with folks using uranic to describe their preferences without depending on the idea of a gender binary."
I'm guessing (based on the arms and legs) that the Carlos Santana-ish person in the white sleeveless tee in that cover image was "assigned female at birth" (🙄) but, due to the 'stache, presents as "masc," and therefore appeals to her clearly ecstatic Uranic lover.
by Anonymous | reply 59 | August 2, 2022 3:01 PM |
Yes R59, Carlos looks to be a chick and I think her guy is actually a guy.
by Anonymous | reply 60 | August 2, 2022 3:08 PM |
R60 Exactly. So they're..... a straight couple with a fetish and a desire to be labeled? (Why don't I believe that he's really into Carlos?) Call me old-fashioned, but I just don't get the motivation. Don't these people have glands? Remember when sex was an animal instinct? Is this really legit or just an affectation? I wonder how much bona fide lust or sexual desire is involved. I cannot help but see this as a bizarre intellectualization of the concept of sex -- motivated by an odd need for validation and attention, and a desire to provoke so that they can school, preach, and act out in response. Call me a dinosaur.
by Anonymous | reply 61 | August 2, 2022 3:20 PM |
Todays young generation is pathetic. They'd rather stay home thinking 800 different sexualities they can be than to actually go out and practice them.
Males and pretend males?
I know a couple of very femme bi women who are only into men and butch women - but this isn't a separate orientation to me. It's just ordinary bisexuality, no different than gay or straight or bi people who prefer outdoorsy people or nerdy androgynous people or whatever.
I think in addition to being an expression of internalized homophobia, transphobia and biphobia, all of this is linked to chronic social media oversharing. People want shorthand expressions for telling you as many intimate details about themselves as quickly as possible.
