Do you find out if a business is LGBTQ-friendly

... before patronizing it?

I've encountered some unsettling situations where I detected I wasn't 'among supporters'.

What does " I support lgbtq" mean?

I know quite a few shops have this sticker in their window but I'm sure their "support " is no more than attracting extra customers and their 'pink dollar'.

[quote] "I support lgbtq".

Are you offering 'mental support'? 'Financial support'? 'Medical support'?

<- Dear God, the Retired Schoolmarmies are dissecting my post like a formaldehyde frog.

Those stickers and signs seem like bullshit virtue signals. I definitely don't spend my money at businesses that have a history of negative relations with the gay community, but otherwise I don't think much about it. I give repeat business to places that consistently treat me well and offer good products.

I give every business (and person) the benefit of the doubt. If I learn that they are supporting anti-LGBTQ causes or doing other unfriendly shit, I speak to them about it to confirm and then, if necessary, I take my business elsewhere. Fortunately that is seldom necessary.

Just because there's a sticker, it doesn't mean they actually give a shit. If anything, they are just monetising us.

No I don’t look for a rainbow sticker, however I do look out for a Christian fish symbol and avoid those places.

I just avoid any business that is actively antigay, otherwise I pretty much live and let live
