Some of the people mentioned here, like Garbo, Montgomery Clift, and Jean Arthur, have had good biographies written about them that explain a lot (albeit not everything) about their personal lives

But James Dean is another story. Though there are a number of biographies of him, not single one of them is good or reliable. The myths and legends about him have consumed the actual person (whoever that was).

And at this point his life and death have receded so far into the past we'll probably never know the truth.

Mary Pickford took to living in her bed and drinking after marrying Buddy Rogers. She’d deserved it. Working since a child supporting her whole family…I would feel like lounging the rest of my life too.
