No this is NOT a joke
George Clooney To Receive 2022 Kennedy Center Honor
by Anonymous | reply 69 | December 9, 2022 4:46 PM |
Why in the fuck would it be a joke? He's a well-established, much-loved actor.
by Anonymous | reply 1 | July 21, 2022 12:01 PM |
R1 must be new to DL
by Anonymous | reply 2 | July 21, 2022 12:02 PM |
r2 pfffffffft
by Anonymous | reply 3 | July 21, 2022 12:05 PM |
Does the Italian twink he chased off a cliff get to attend? I know the Kennedy center is wheelchair accessible.
by Anonymous | reply 4 | July 21, 2022 12:06 PM |
Great. This is sure to provoke that certain troll, who will have such a huge meltdown that we'll be in Prime Time for days on end.
by Anonymous | reply 5 | July 21, 2022 12:08 PM |
For cocksucking excellence?
Will Amyl be there?
by Anonymous | reply 6 | July 21, 2022 12:15 PM |
Shouldn't he be in jail?
by Anonymous | reply 7 | July 21, 2022 12:18 PM |
And another snub for Liza. Amy Grant, seriously?
by Anonymous | reply 8 | July 21, 2022 12:27 PM |
seriously
by Anonymous | reply 9 | July 21, 2022 1:07 PM |
I think some on those people paid big money to get their name on that list.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | July 21, 2022 1:13 PM |
Has Sandy Bullock received this honor?
by Anonymous | reply 11 | July 21, 2022 1:25 PM |
Is he dying?
by Anonymous | reply 12 | July 21, 2022 1:29 PM |
Can someone link to the twink story? How have I missed this?
by Anonymous | reply 13 | July 21, 2022 1:30 PM |
Honestly, it makes sense. It reflects just how decayed America is. Kennedy himself was also a piece of shit who treated women like garbage and admired Hitler.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | July 21, 2022 1:35 PM |
Hard to believe George Clooney would get this honor before Martin Short or Glenn Close. They're not Oscar winners, but they're surely more treasured than this pretty boy.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | July 21, 2022 1:43 PM |
One day Miss C may be discovered paralyzed at the bottom of a cliff.
by Anonymous | reply 16 | July 21, 2022 1:45 PM |
It's the curse of Sunny V.B.
Glenn played her in a powerhouse performance that won Sunny's attacker an Oscar, so naturally, she has to suffer now.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | July 21, 2022 1:48 PM |
There is no twink story. It's De-facto and his hatred of successful progressive liberals in the spotlight. He and a few others constantly troll. One of the reasons The Data Lounge is considered a swamp. Criticizing is fine. Unending gleeful nuisance trolling is insufferable.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | July 21, 2022 1:54 PM |
Gladys Knight is also on the list.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | July 21, 2022 2:12 PM |
FAG!!!
by Anonymous | reply 21 | July 21, 2022 2:30 PM |
The Italians confirm the story minus the part about jewelry and the beard being the mastermind. She was hired after everything was cleaned up by professionals.
The deflection about politics is a common PR tactic. The incident happened in 2013. Qanon and those groups didn't even come into existence until 2017. There is a reason he had to suddenly and very publicly get married.
The disturbed DLers rabidly defending him are in the industry and serve as his PR surrogates here. No other reason for anyone on a gay forum to be defending a drunken asshole who harmed a gay teen.
by Anonymous | reply 22 | July 21, 2022 2:32 PM |
Thank God the recipients don't get to give speeches.
Not that I'm sure it'll stop him.
by Anonymous | reply 23 | July 21, 2022 2:38 PM |
Wasn't he already married to Amal when the Italian teenager incident happen?
by Anonymous | reply 24 | July 21, 2022 2:47 PM |
[quote]Kennedy himself was also a piece of shit who treated women like garbage and admired Hitler.
That was daddy JOSEPH P KENNEDY, not JFK
by Anonymous | reply 25 | July 21, 2022 2:50 PM |
R25 The elder Kennedy was the appeaser and bootlegger, sure. But the sons were quite priggish in their treatment of women.
In short, they fucked anything that moved, and then discarded them.
by Anonymous | reply 26 | July 21, 2022 2:56 PM |
R26, I was talking about the admiration for Hitler, not the womanizing.
by Anonymous | reply 27 | July 21, 2022 3:03 PM |
R25 JFK on Hitler: "He had in him the stuff from which legends are made." Sure sounds like admiration to me.
by Anonymous | reply 28 | July 21, 2022 3:06 PM |
R28 Read the article you cite. Kennedy didn't "admire" Hitler. He was merely appreciating the man's impact on world history. It's undeniable that tyrants can leave a lasting mark on humanity, usually for the worse, but it's a mark nonetheless.
He wasn't saying Hitler was a legend for the atrocities he committed. He was a legend for the way he uniquely motivated an entire nation of people to turn themselves around so suddenly that they went from being a country of starving vagrants to a country on the cusp of world domination within a single decade. He tapped into something powerful and dark, and that's fascinating in its own right.
by Anonymous | reply 29 | July 21, 2022 3:16 PM |
I'd opt for Sally Kirkland, Mamie Van Doren, or Richard Simmons over George Clooney.
by Anonymous | reply 30 | July 21, 2022 3:27 PM |
R29 Sorry, no. I'm disgusted by his assessment and yours. It's reminiscent of something Trump might say. There is no excuse for such tactless wording. Hitler had just murdered millions upon millions of people. It was 1945. JFK should have been appalled not awed. He was an asshole.
by Anonymous | reply 31 | July 21, 2022 3:32 PM |
My eyes are deceiving me this morning. I read this as George Kennedy to receive award. The no joke part made sense because he's dead.
by Anonymous | reply 32 | July 21, 2022 3:36 PM |
They added him for ratings only. He doesn’t deserve it.
by Anonymous | reply 33 | July 21, 2022 3:37 PM |
R31, please provide verificatia that "Hitler murdered milions and millions of people" After the usury satanists who own the NY Federal Reserve Bank/Bank of England had destroyed Germany in WW1, Hitler made it the strongest economy in Europe, if not in the world, in the 1930s. How? By cancelling the Versailles payments and expelling the usurers in the German government so that Germany could issue it's own debt and interest free money not borrowed from the international usurers. For this the usurers decided to destroy Germany. If the German financial system had become global it would have put the usurers out of business for good. The usurers, since 1945, have stationed their private police force (aka the US army) in Germany to make sure that they never again can threaten the global usury slave empire, aka the ECB,IMF, etc.
by Anonymous | reply 34 | July 21, 2022 3:53 PM |
R31 You sound like you'd be a delight at parties. I bet you're also the sort of person who gets personally offended and physically ill at the sight of a statue of Thomas Jefferson, too.
A mature historian can examine the broader impacts of a tyrant's actions without being emotionally scarred by the human cost. No one here is denying Hitler's genocidal rage or the pain he caused generations of innocent people. No one is denying that. But it's also perfectly valid to look at the ways he and his military reshaped Europe and redefined the German civilization. Even in the ashes of all that he destroyed, he still played a transformative role in the history of that continent. To deny that outcome simply because you can't get past the horrors of what he did is ignorant on your part.
The meteor that killed the dinosaurs caused worldwide devastation and mass extinction. But the planet and the life on it were greatly reshaped by the sheer happenstance of one little rock slamming into a much bigger rock. It's unusual for something so small to have such an enormous influence on the broader system. Just as it's unusual and infamous for a single human being to cause so much destruction and despair that entire nations were reshaped, exterminated, or reborn because of him.
The Holocaust as a human scar is distinct from the causes and effects of the rise of Adolf Hitler as a figure in European history. Understanding the latter does not trivialize the former.
But I'm sure you'll call me a neo-Nazi in your next reply, because why be a critical thinker when you can just call people names?
by Anonymous | reply 35 | July 21, 2022 3:54 PM |
I don't think it's unreasonable for George Clooney to receive a KC award, though this provides yet another opportunity for Clooney & his wife to hang all over each in public like a couple of 13 year olds. That's a strange one, those two. I'd love to know the *real* story about their relationship
by Anonymous | reply 36 | July 21, 2022 4:14 PM |
R18 it’s actually D-Ro Chelle, the Clooney obsessive. She’s been annoyed at him since he got married.
by Anonymous | reply 37 | July 21, 2022 4:18 PM |
How can I receive this KFC Honor?
by Anonymous | reply 38 | July 21, 2022 4:31 PM |
Yes, it is OP What films of his stand the test of time? He was in a bunch of forgettable commercial dreck!
by Anonymous | reply 39 | July 21, 2022 4:34 PM |
Woody Allen certainly deserves this award but they'd never give it to him, and if they did, he probably wouldn't accept.
by Anonymous | reply 40 | July 21, 2022 4:57 PM |
R38 You're already our best customer of all time. But buy another five buckets by the end of the week, and we'll spring for the next set of arterial stents!
by Anonymous | reply 41 | July 21, 2022 5:47 PM |
O Brother, What is this shit? His filmography is underwhelming:
The Midnight Sky
One Fine Day
Batman and Robin
The Peacemaker
The Perfect Storm
Ocean's11, 12,13
Solaris
Confessions of a Dangerous Mind
Michael Clayton
Leatherheads
Burn after Reading
Up in the Air
The Men Who Stare at Goats
The American
The Ides of March
The Descendants
The Monuments Men
Tomorrowland
Haill Caesar
Grizzly II Revenge
Welcome to Collinwood
Intolerable Cruelty
The Good German
Money Monster
He was a boring actor and a pompous self-important one. Gravity and Out of Sight are the only two movies of his that I've ever recommend. Many of the titles listed above I've never even heard of.
by Anonymous | reply 42 | July 21, 2022 6:46 PM |
I wonder if Rosanne is gonna present George with the award. After all, George was discovered on her show. And, according to Rosanne, 'He owes ME EVERYTHING"!!!
by Anonymous | reply 43 | July 21, 2022 7:32 PM |
Amy Grant?!
by Anonymous | reply 44 | July 21, 2022 7:50 PM |
R34, I’ve been here for a while, yet I had no idea you are an antisemite.
How fucking disappointing, especially since I’ve always found you to be pretty intelligent.
What a goddamn shame.
by Anonymous | reply 45 | July 21, 2022 8:56 PM |
Clooney is not unworthy, but he's too young. Another decade of work, fine. He would eventually get there.
Grant is an unusual and unexpected choice, but I guess they are trying to cover the categories and she checks off the female and Christian boxes. I blanch at her receiving this before someone like Emmylou Harris, or even George Strait (hard to believe Garth Brooks has a KCH before Strait and Harris).
No Kris Kristofferson. Or Grandmaster Flash -yes, he should be honored. If they can honor LL Cool J, he should as well. Or the Byrds. I guess they aren't honoring the creative elders anymore.
Gladys Knight is a fine choice.
by Anonymous | reply 46 | July 21, 2022 9:32 PM |
Such an honor for gay George and his handsome beard Anal
by Anonymous | reply 47 | July 21, 2022 9:36 PM |
He must have sent the Dems millions to buy himself this honor.
by Anonymous | reply 48 | July 21, 2022 10:36 PM |
The list of entertainers who deserve this far more than anyone in this paltry line-up - of four versus the usual five awardees, no less - is too long to compile, but certainly includes: Liza Minnelli, Barry Manilow, Woody Allen, Patti LuPone and Bernadette Peters, to name but five.
by Anonymous | reply 49 | July 21, 2022 11:18 PM |
what the fuck has he done to deserve this?
by Anonymous | reply 50 | July 21, 2022 11:29 PM |
Erna @ R34, what was the situatia for homosexuals in Hitler's Germany? I'm sure you have known eldersisters who swore that the best dick they ever sucked was at Sachsenhausen.
by Anonymous | reply 51 | July 21, 2022 11:45 PM |
The wrong Clooney is getting this honor
Rosemary Clooney should have been honored years ago
by Anonymous | reply 52 | July 21, 2022 11:47 PM |
Maggie Smith should be getting a KCH than George Clooney
by Anonymous | reply 53 | July 21, 2022 11:53 PM |
r49 totally agree re Liza. Replace Manilow with Barry Gibb, and eliminate Woody - creatively yes I know he's deserving but he's never gonna get another major honor, not in this lifetime.
by Anonymous | reply 54 | July 22, 2022 12:28 AM |
Scrapping the bottom of the barrel here. George Clooney?? Amy Grant???
by Anonymous | reply 55 | July 22, 2022 1:00 AM |
No, R35, I wouldn't call you a neo-Nazi, but I would definitely apply that characterization to R34, Mrs. Patrick Campbell, who denies not only the genocide of Jews, but also Poles, regardless of religion, gays, Gypsies, and disabled people. Millions upon millions of people. I won't address this evil scum directly, but I'm amazed that very few people here seem to have a problem with a Hitler apologist and Holocaust denier on a gay site. What a sewer this place has become.
by Anonymous | reply 56 | July 22, 2022 1:11 AM |
We don't know, r51 because we weren't there, were you?
But we assume it was the same as it has been everywhere since time immemorial, namely if you are dropdeadgorgeous and under 40 and/or have 10 inches and/or have 10 million,,,,,,,your life will be HEAVENLY!
by Anonymous | reply 57 | July 22, 2022 6:05 AM |
For r51, we did know a Fabulous Dutch eldersister who lived and worked in Spain under Franco in the 1950s.
She stated many times that she had tons of great sex almost daily in T rooms, cinemas, parks, etc and never a problem. Of course she was tall and blond and lived with a fish for 'cover'......the same as most homosexuals today!
by Anonymous | reply 58 | July 22, 2022 6:19 AM |
Pioneer Transsexual porn goddess Sulka is still with us. It’s time mainstream culture begin honoring this quickly vanishing species to whom we owe so much.
by Anonymous | reply 59 | July 22, 2022 7:33 PM |
Tom Jones for chrissakes.
by Anonymous | reply 60 | July 23, 2022 1:31 PM |
R56 enjoys reading textbooks, movies, etc produced under the control of the Rockefeller Foundatia. They love it when people like r56 believe what they are told without any further alternate investigatia!
Rockefeller Foundatia is a substantial owner (since 1914) of sharers in the New York Federal Reserve Bank, and when you own a central bank you can buy anyone! The , Rockefeller global criminal usury empire, aka JPMorgan Chase, has much of the planet as it's debt slaves.
by Anonymous | reply 61 | July 24, 2022 6:21 AM |
I'm still really upset that Mrs. Patrick Campbell pushed that twink off that cliff.
by Anonymous | reply 62 | July 24, 2022 6:25 AM |
And still no Liza Minnelli and Johnny Mathis?!
Fucking disgrace, Kennedy Center.
by Anonymous | reply 63 | July 24, 2022 8:32 PM |
Anyone that believes George and the crippled Italian boy story must be out of their mind.
by Anonymous | reply 64 | December 9, 2022 4:23 PM |
Did The Beatles or The Rolling Stones received this award?
by Anonymous | reply 65 | December 9, 2022 4:25 PM |
R42 You think that Gravity is a better movie than O Brother, Where Art Thou?
by Anonymous | reply 66 | December 9, 2022 4:26 PM |
[quote] The elder Kennedy was the appeaser and bootlegger, sure. But the sons were quite priggish in their treatment of women.
I think you meant piggish, not priggish.
by Anonymous | reply 67 | December 9, 2022 4:43 PM |
I saw an interview of Dionne Warwick. She said that she'd like to get a KCH.
I know it's comparing apples and oranges, but Dionne Warwick is loooong overdue if Clooney is getting one. It's a travesty, really.
by Anonymous | reply 68 | December 9, 2022 4:45 PM |
One of the weirdest things to happen on the Datalounge this year is Erna (Mrs Patrick Campbell) allying with Davida on the Clooney conspiracy. QAnoners of a feather, I suppose.
