If peak Broadway Joe arrived on the scene in 2022, would he be as big a sensation today as he was in his heyday?
He would probably be more popular than Aaron Rodgers, simply because he can filter his ego.

IMO in his prime, the sexiest pro athlete ever.

Joe Namath was one of the first guys who peaked my sexual curiosity. I remember going into Spencer's Gifts when I was about 12 years old and was looking through the poster collection. As I was flipping through the posters, I came upon one of Joe Namath shirtless, in blue jeans, with a towel over his shoulder. I immediately got turned on. I must have gone back to Spencer's 5 or 6 times just to look at that poster for the next month.

He should have been well-off for the rest of his life. Why is he making Medicare commercials?

So sad to see a greatly diminished Joe Namath hawking insurance

My mother didn't like football, but she sure loved Joe Namath.
The team owners/suits thought Joe was a pain in the ass back then because he was doing commercials, etc., and getting famous outside of football. Little did the owners know what was in store for them as far as bad player behavior in the future.

There was just something so hot and luscious and pan-sexual about the young Joe Namath, it always looked like he'd be up for anything. It really got my teen peen going.

Joe Namath dropping in on the Brady Bunch.
I wonder what Robert Reed thought of Joe.
Joe’s hair is really awful, even for the era. I even like Robert Reed’s afro better.

I think that he would be very popular, but he wouldn't be anywhere near a sex symbol for the simple fact that, nowadays, there are many good players who are handsome or pretty, whereas he has always looked like Marty Feldman's and David Berkowitz's lovechild.

His closest counterpart to the past decade is Gronk, who has the charisma, the laidback masculinity, and the satyr-like aura.

I think he would be very popular. I think he’s very handsome but not arrogant. Plus he was a good player. I love this shirt on him. Very 70s.

It's SO nice to see someone with their real nose.

I loved that shot in R16. I cut it out of the papers and magazines and wished I could have a go at those nipples of his. If I asked him for an autograph when he was wearing that shirt, I'd probably muck the request up.

I wonder if Joe's insane hotness just doesn't come through to younger gays?
But in his day, omg.

Joe showed a little bush for Life magazine. I wish the photographer had aimed lower. Maybe there was a whole roll of film out there showing Joe's entire basket. Playgirl would have gone nuts!

He probably did, r24, and the photo was cropped later.

He looks like he has scoliosis in the Brady Bunch video, his posture is awful.

He's making commercials now because when he was a football star, players were paid nowhere near what they are today. In 1965 he signed a record-breaking rookie contract for $475,000 per year.
