I hear people talking about it, but I have no idea what it is.
Should I care?
The only reason I ask is because I have a crush on Tyler Johnston, and he seems to have some association with this "Letterkenny" thing.

When you're posting your usual dozen idiotic threads every day, take a minute to learn how to use google.
by Anonymous | reply 2 | July 19, 2022 11:28 AM |
If you think that Canada can produce a good sitcom, then you’ll like Letterkenny.
by Anonymous | reply 3 | July 19, 2022 11:30 AM |
If only there were a website into which we can input questions and obtain links to websites with relevant information.
by Anonymous | reply 4 | July 19, 2022 11:32 AM |
She posts a lot more than a dozen, r2. On truly anon forums like this, often half (or more) of the threads are posted by these people with no life, black holes of need.
We have the double whammy of having one truly pathetic one here who, on top of everything else, is from flyover and thus a racist and trumpkin. So much of what she posts is clumsy rightwing agitprop.

Overrated Canadian TV show with two predatory gay thpe characters.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | July 19, 2022 12:15 PM |
I tried watching it after hearing the hype.
My God.
It’s painfully try-hard. It’s just horrible with zero wit.
My wife, the actress Coral Browne, was appalled.
by Anonymous | reply 7 | July 19, 2022 12:32 PM |
As a Canadian, I apologize. I know soooo many people who think it’s Shakespeare, and it’s just so painfully stupid. There’s a hockey show now, too, but can’t think of the name. Same actor.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | July 19, 2022 12:35 PM |
I feel like people who like The Big Bang Theory would be eager fans.
It has quite…broad appeal to retards who believe they’re watching a secret livestream from Oxbridge or some gay shit.
by Anonymous | reply 9 | July 19, 2022 12:51 PM |
Isn't it Northern Exposure in Canada? I watched one episode on Daily motion. Does it have First Nation people in it? From my perspective that was the best thing about NE.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | July 19, 2022 2:25 PM |
I watched it (enduring lots of it for reasons stated above) because of the hot shirtless guys...plentiful and gratuitous.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | July 19, 2022 2:29 PM |
Watch it on mute only, if you must.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | July 19, 2022 2:33 PM |
Imagine a frat house back and forth between guys and extend it into a show.
That is all it is. A very oddly paced show where the theme is to deliver one-liners with a straight face and wait for the retort. I find it extremely funny but can only handle it in tiny doses as there is really no acting involved and it could be a radio show in actuality.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | July 19, 2022 3:01 PM |
The so-called jokes are so obvious, it’s embarrassing.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | July 19, 2022 3:03 PM |
by Anonymous | reply 15 | July 19, 2022 3:03 PM |
Apparently, there's even a live show!
What do they do?
by Anonymous | reply 16 | July 19, 2022 11:05 PM |
I tried to get into it because it seemed to be a cult hit but I just didn't care for it at all. I kept waiting for the laughs but they never came. Oh well.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | July 20, 2022 3:45 AM |
It sort of reminds me of "Corner Gas", another show that tried to turn the banality of life in smalltown Canada into comedy and was just as mediocre as "Letterkenny".
by Anonymous | reply 18 | July 20, 2022 3:56 AM |
So is Tyler Johnson at op's link, gay?
No mention of a gf on his Instagram.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | July 20, 2022 4:07 AM |
Well, next to Schitt’s Creek it’s practically Shakespeare.
by Anonymous | reply 20 | July 20, 2022 4:43 AM |
R15 That clip was torture. Painfully unfunny.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | July 20, 2022 4:55 AM |
My 15 year old son loves the show and the spinoff, he finds them laugh out loud funny. I think he is the intended audience, along with those that think like 15 year olds. I, personally, do not understand Canadian humor or grown men that act and talk like the characters represented.
by Anonymous | reply 22 | July 20, 2022 9:23 AM |
Just watched the video at R15.
It almost seems like a high school production of a "comedy" troupe.
by Anonymous | reply 23 | July 20, 2022 7:29 PM |
The ancient eldergays at the DL will watch marathons of "The Ropers" yet dismiss edgier or more "cringe" humor as painfully unfunny.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | July 20, 2022 7:32 PM |
Why is Canada so culturally abysmal? Wealthy, relatively diverse population, stable society…is it just that there aren’t very many of them? I guess the best one can say is that their output is distinctively cheap and mediocre in a very specific Canadian way.
by Anonymous | reply 25 | July 20, 2022 7:33 PM |
R24, you are on the wrong side of history if you’re making an even halfhearted defense of this shit.
by Anonymous | reply 26 | July 20, 2022 7:34 PM |
Lol R25.
OUCH!
That was scathing, in the most deliciously understated way.
by Anonymous | reply 27 | July 20, 2022 7:35 PM |
R25, we border a very wealthy country that is a media powerhouse.
Even homegrown productions in Canada typically require some funding from the Americans because Canadian production companies will simply not cut it. Canada's music, film, and television industries are just too overshadowed by the US.
Talented Canadians migrate to the US because there's simply more money to make there. What gets left behind is...well, this.
I, for one, enjoy our uniquely mediocre productions. It's an acquired taste.
by Anonymous | reply 28 | July 20, 2022 10:53 PM |
Hiss.
HISSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

Rofl.
SAD!
I almost feel sorry for Canada.
by Anonymous | reply 30 | July 20, 2022 11:03 PM |
I think Canada arts receive considerably more public funding than the US, more similar to the UK.

What's 5% of nothing?
by Anonymous | reply 32 | July 20, 2022 11:15 PM |
Plus we have stupid rules in Canada requiring so much Canadian content on our TVs and radios, so we gets tons of shitty Canadian content. And we end up subsidizing it in ways like paying for shitty cable channels we don’t want, but are forced to take as part of a package.
by Anonymous | reply 33 | July 20, 2022 11:18 PM |
Why are you all hating on Letterkenny?
Even Brad Pitt thinks it's funny.
by Anonymous | reply 34 | July 20, 2022 11:20 PM |
It’s funny af.
by Anonymous | reply 35 | July 20, 2022 11:23 PM |
Yeah, well, Brad also married Angelina.
by Anonymous | reply 36 | July 20, 2022 11:23 PM |
R33 Well with the exception of PBS we have no government funding supporting network TV content and it’s still shitty and unwatchable.
by Anonymous | reply 37 | July 20, 2022 11:36 PM |
Poor Canada.
I feel so sorry for you.
by Anonymous | reply 38 | July 21, 2022 1:27 AM |
As a Canadian, I can't defend our entertainment industry. Most of it is utterly mediocre with some exceptions here and there. A lot of that is laziness and a lack of motivation: why bother pushing the boundaries here it will be done by someone south of the border or in Europe, Korea, Japan, or elsewhere. Plus, when they decide to finance or greenlight something, it has to be aggressively "Canadian", i.e. provincial in many ways and relying almost exclusively on the homegrown talent who couldn't cut it in the States or the UK. I live in Toronto, my partner works in the advertising industry and through him I was able to get a better insight into the local entertainment and arts scene, not as an insider but through hearing stories and gossip how a lot of things get produced or art exhibits get staged: it's a giant nepotistic circle jerk, populated by, say, Rosedale trust fund babies, at least when it comes to Toronto.
by Anonymous | reply 39 | July 21, 2022 1:56 AM |
It's funny, low budget wordplay comedy. As close to Napoleon Dynamite as anything that has come since. The star and creator even has that autistic vibe, the only difference is that he is fucking hot and has an amazing body. So instead of a tooth pick teenager, you're watching grade A manmeat. Easy to watch multiple episodes and some seasons are only 6 episodes....plus its r rated for language so a bit more adult than American sitcoms.
by Anonymous | reply 40 | July 21, 2022 4:02 AM |
Okay, that video at R40 was actally funny.
And yeah, the big, burly guy is hot.
by Anonymous | reply 41 | July 21, 2022 10:02 AM |
jared kesso is super hot in real life and doesn't appear to be autistic, as the character seems to be.
by Anonymous | reply 42 | July 21, 2022 5:11 PM |
Is this Jared Kesso with Tyler Johnston?
This is from Tyler's Twitter and he didn't identify the muscular guy in the photo.
I thought maybe it was his boyfriend, but now that I've seen a couple pictures of Kesso, I'm thinking it looks like him.

Letterkenny is a funny name.
by Anonymous | reply 44 | July 22, 2022 12:19 AM |
I wanted to like it, but couldn't get into the stylized structure and dialogue.
by Anonymous | reply 46 | July 24, 2022 4:51 AM |
R46 Stylized is a good word. It reminds me of Samuel Beckett a bit sometimes, the way it segues from realistic dialogue to an almost liturgical kind of wordplay. That's one of the things I like about the show personally, but I can see how it could be offputting too.
by Anonymous | reply 47 | July 24, 2022 5:08 AM |
The show sounds quintessentially Canadian.
by Anonymous | reply 48 | July 24, 2022 5:11 AM |
I think the name of the show is cute.
So Canadian.
by Anonymous | reply 49 | July 26, 2022 3:02 AM |
Okay, I have to admit that this one was funny.
by Anonymous | reply 50 | September 17, 2022 1:10 AM |
What happens at Letterkenny Live?
by Anonymous | reply 51 | February 29, 2024 8:37 AM |
I can't get into this show - the quippy style of dialogue gets under my skin. I don't like the type of comedy writing where everyone is just so clever.
by Anonymous | reply 53 | February 29, 2024 12:37 PM |
Residing, as I apparently do, in Outer Mongolia, where word of this has just now reached me for the very first time, I’m glad OP asked the question.
by Anonymous | reply 54 | February 29, 2024 1:03 PM |
Love this show.
by Anonymous | reply 55 | February 29, 2024 1:15 PM |
r44 It's no Ballykissangel.
by Anonymous | reply 56 | February 29, 2024 1:20 PM |
The show was cancelled last year, after 12 seasons.
by Anonymous | reply 57 | February 29, 2024 1:21 PM |
I love it, too. It’s reliably funny, highly intelligent and completely stupid at the same time.
by Anonymous | reply 58 | February 29, 2024 1:22 PM |
It's very Canadian.
Americans wouldn't understand it.
by Anonymous | reply 59 | February 29, 2024 7:42 PM |
I would lick Jared Keeso's shitter. And everywhere else on him, too.
by Anonymous | reply 60 | February 29, 2024 7:55 PM |
As an American, I am sure I missed a lot of references, but it is one fucking hell of a ride.
by Anonymous | reply 61 | February 29, 2024 9:16 PM |
Just found out about this show.
In the last week I've binged six seasons.
Season one was touch and go, almost bailed... but season two really found its groove and I totally got into it. I still think Season 2's final episode -- the St Patrick's Day episode -- was one of the funniest things I've seen on TV.
This show makes me miss drinking with friends in my late 20s and early 30s.
by Anonymous | reply 62 | June 29, 2024 4:25 AM |
It's definitely a mix of a very prose-dense sort of playwrighty thing as well as an absurdist sort of thing as well.
A very off off Broadway, 1 am improv kind of thing. Some love it. I appreciate it more than I love it.
However, Jared Keeso is scorchingly hot - almost cartoonishly so - and may perhaps be worth the price of admission.
by Anonymous | reply 63 | June 29, 2024 4:35 AM |
While I do just love looking at Jared Keeso... the guy that makes me HOT is the dumbass dudebro long-haired blond hockey dude. God, I wanna smash that.
by Anonymous | reply 64 | June 29, 2024 4:39 AM |
r64 who dat?
by Anonymous | reply 65 | June 30, 2024 1:24 AM |
Just realized the American Cousin was the drug addict traveler on "Travelers". Talk about almost unrecognizable.
by Anonymous | reply 67 | July 3, 2024 12:50 AM |
Season 8, episode 6 is literally the funniest thing I've ever seen on TV. I think I may have hurt myself laughing so hard. "HOLY SHEET"!
