A giant has fallen. This article has a bunch of pics of his work, its fucking amazing, I find him an inspiration, he was utterly fearless with colour unlike most of the deadly dull, lifeless interiors of today

Guy was a fucking legend

I assumed he was long dead, and am surprised he was only 85 (but looking 40)

I love color, but I always found his pallet to be unsophisticated, rather like the deluxe Crayola set, and rather firmly stuck in the 1970s. As odd as this may seem, I wish he was more adventurous with color.

I have a pink dining room because I didn't know what else went with red carpet.

R7 Good for you man. Anything is better than more fuckin griege or white.

Varney said that Joan Crawford “loved having a pink bedroom because she thought that increased a man’s masculinity” and “she thought [men] loved pink bedrooms”.

R9, there was a time when studies showed that men preferred a feminine boudoir as it was sexy. I think this died when "A"s started marrying "A"s.

Chintzy and awful but a certain type lives for this type of design. Not a fan.

RIP.

Any room in which one must play chameleon and "blend in" with the same colors or look like an interloper is a bad room.

Kitsch is malignant.

Purple goes with red

I used to see him in Palm Beach on the gay Thursday night Happy Hour at The Colony. Another old man Palm Beach clone.

I laughed when I learned that his ex-wife’s maiden name was Lickdyke.

Way too feminine for my taste. I can see where his style would appeal to certain people, I'm just not one of them

Too much green.

It’s extremely well done and I hate all of it.
