This is MUCH BETTER so far. From two episodes in: They went back to the old format, which is great. Nice to have two hosts again. It's better for Tyra; the last two seasons she seemed really rushed, and there was the pressure of timing for all those commercial breaks in a two hour show. Now there are no commercial breaks (As Shangela would say, "Hallelu!") So they can pace things however they want now. Having a cohost means you have time to breathe. I think Tyra is actually doing better with Alphonso on board.

Monday night's episode & Selma Blair = hubby and I crying buckets! She's always been of my favorite underrated actresses since Cruel Intentions and she's just giving me LIFE. Very inspirational, very raw & rough times for her with her MS diagnosis & what her body is going through.

She announced last night that she had to leave the show. Although she was dancing really well and scoring well, her medical team that monitors her found she was starting to develop stress fractures in her bones and some muscle tearing, which can be devastating to someone with MS, like she might not heal or recover. I'm tearing up now again! She's just so cool ❤

Someone on the other thread that I can't access summed up my problem with Mark Ballas. He always pulls focus. Has to be the star of each dance regardless of how good the partner is, we all remember he is the pro, thus the star that they are dancing with. His dances with Charli, I'm always watching him. I watch the other male pros because they are a bit sexy dancing. He isn't it's his artful, thoughtful, intense dancing we watch. It's all about him. Not highlighting his partner. FUCK HIM.

I'm really getting turned off by Gabby as a person. Dances well but every time she opens her mouth, oye.

Joseph danced better than Vinny, who I kinda group together as awkward but improving. But Joe has no charisma and Vinny just has charisma that is pulling him through but he is stiff as hell. I do think Vinny needs to go soon.

Vinny also has a large fanbase of millions. Joseph doesn’t.

The thing is Mark Ballas isn’t doing anything to overshadow his partner. That’s what happens when you have a natural screen presence. One thing that is known in Hollywood is presence can’t be taught. That comes natural.

No, my first season was #1 when Alec Mazo won with Kelly Monaco - but they had the stupid rematch. Then Alec stood up for the pros who were getting paid a pittance, so they benched him for two seasons and never gave him a chance when they brought him back (out first twice in a row - best chance was Toni Braxton but imo the producers screwed him over with her - put them in French Revolution clothes doing a stupid waltz or something.

Then I loved Julianne with Apolo (not so much with Helio), Mark with Kristi, got sick of Derek winning 5 to 7 times I forget yada yada. I even kinda liked Maks but never ever liked Val. Sorry. It's not a copy and paste - I could go on and on. Tristan and how they mistreated him with his five lackluster partners - my god, Nancy Grace was his highest placement when they made the quarterfinals his first season. Now there's somebody who was NOT a pet. I did sort of fade out a while after Tristan sixth season (first was in the troupe) because I was pissed off. Didn't both Maks and Val get their wins? I forget with whom because I'd quit watching. Rumer somebody? The figure skater Meryl?

They did well on the show - and Val's still going. Alec was shafted. Tristan was even more shafted. And they're both cuter. Another one who was really shafted was Fabian Sanchez - he teaches in the south not that far from me, in Alabama. He had one partner - Marlee Matlin - who was effing deaf! He did great; she did well; he never got another season!

Anyway, I could go on for days... and now I'm a bigger fan of Strictly Come Dancing who have the hottest male pros evah baby!! Though they're almost as rigged as DWTS but producers gonna rig - it's the reality show law. Vinny is a terrible dancer overall but I thought he did good tonight. He’s terrible at steps and flailing his arms because he’s stiff and lacks musicality but I loved the energy and attitude and slow movements. His dance was lowkey FIERCE. Because ratings kept declining they cut it down to one day a week years ago. And then ratings dropped so much that they cut it from two seasons a year to one.

Not my favorite dance of Jordan's. She has improved weekly but I wasn't a fan of the music or choreography.

I might have liked Charli if Mark was gone. Flawless Technically, but nothing for the story, no emotional connect. Maybe she can connect with someone else.

Daniel was a bit rough around the edges. If he wasn't sick it might have been more polished. I do like him and his partner.

I liked Shangela and Gleb the best so far. The story and performance was great. Could have had more dance content. But was most enjoyable.

R213 she can’t connect with anyone. She said on one of the episodes she cant even look at people in their eyes.

Also, Daniel being a little rough around the edges is fine. He’s doing phenomenal for someone who can’t hear the music at all.

I think a second dance is coming, a group dance, will it save someone? Then the results.

The issue with Vinny is when he has been given more fluidity and hip movements (he has, go back and watch weeks 1-3), he was TERRIBLE. He lacks rhythm when he moves his hips etc. that can’t be taught. Rhythm comes natural. That’s why KoKo switched it up but he can’t do that either lmao.

But as bad as he is, he still isn’t as bad as winner Bobby Bones was.

The judges actually hardly acknowledge the importance of shaping and lines in that dance. Derek acknowledged it to an extent though.
