Thanks for the link, ElderLez.
by Anonymous | reply 3 | July 12, 2022 4:54 PM |
Thank you OP, just fired up the ol’ Nespresso, hot beverage ready to go while I pack for a summer trip that starts tomorrow, no mug cradling. These hearings are my packing entertainment, I cannot wait to see this!
I’m worried how the committee can sustain the momentum from Mama Cass — but I also have great confidence in Liz. She absolutely knows how to build a case in a Bard-like crescendo of wickedness and drama. Bill Shakespearecould not do better than Liz.
Does anyone know if Thursday night is happening for sure? Can’t remember where I read they are doing a prime-time hearing at night, hope it’s on.
by Anonymous | reply 4 | July 12, 2022 4:59 PM |
That’s quite a line up witnesses.
by Anonymous | reply 5 | July 12, 2022 5:03 PM |
Liz is not gonna let The Don off the hook!
by Anonymous | reply 6 | July 12, 2022 5:09 PM |
I hope the committee gives more names of members of Congress that colluded with a Trump.
by Anonymous | reply 7 | July 12, 2022 5:15 PM |
IK hope this leads veto an indictment of the Orange anus.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | July 12, 2022 5:26 PM |
^^to an indictment

Patsy Baloney has a saggy neck.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | July 12, 2022 5:28 PM |
This has been really boring so far. Just rehash and recaps. Someone needs to show these people how to put on a show.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | July 12, 2022 5:30 PM |
Someone needs to show these people how to put on a show.
They know. They have. They will.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | July 12, 2022 5:32 PM |
Guess they are showing us Team Normal first, proving plenty of important people told Trump it was over.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | July 12, 2022 5:32 PM |
They are being meticulous R11. This is a legal hearing, not entertainment.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | July 12, 2022 5:32 PM |
no fireworks in the first 30 minutes
by Anonymous | reply 15 | July 12, 2022 5:33 PM |
"Does anyone know if Thursday night is happening for sure?"
Rescheduled.
by Anonymous | reply 16 | July 12, 2022 5:34 PM |
Good lord, do you think they'd really put that talking pile of pigshit Bannon out there? Live on primetime TV?
by Anonymous | reply 17 | July 12, 2022 5:37 PM |
Sidney just got burned.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | July 12, 2022 5:37 PM |
There has to be a recording of Ivanka’s real voice somewhere.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | July 12, 2022 5:38 PM |
I love Jamie Raskin, but it looks like he's been going to Debbie Wasserman Schultz's hairdresser.
by Anonymous | reply 20 | July 12, 2022 5:41 PM |
Does anyone think that Jason Miller is going to jail?
by Anonymous | reply 21 | July 12, 2022 5:41 PM |
Mike I take the 5th Flynn is intimately involved in sustaining the narrative the election was stolen. Bernie Kerick who is a felon, tapped out early.

“The screaming.” Yikes.
by Anonymous | reply 28 | July 12, 2022 5:50 PM |
Sidney is far more dangerous and idiotic than I previously believed.
And, I’ve viewed her as batshit crazy for years at this point.

by Anonymous | reply 32 | July 12, 2022 5:53 PM |
Miss Sidney sure thinks highly of herself.
by Anonymous | reply 33 | July 12, 2022 5:55 PM |
So . . . Trump realizes he’s out of legitimate options and can’t appoint Sydney Powell to seize voting machines. He then decides to overthrow the government.
by Anonymous | reply 34 | July 12, 2022 5:56 PM |
Trump liked the crazies because he's one himself.
by Anonymous | reply 35 | July 12, 2022 5:56 PM |
Twitter banned a sitting President of the United States from using its platform.
Shameful.

Red Wedding, Red Pill. terrible nerds
by Anonymous | reply 41 | July 12, 2022 6:04 PM |
What is damning is the fact that Trump sends out this tweet at 1 AM, and all these loonies had everything ready to roll. The woman who set up the rallie, and Alex Jones and Ali Alexander (who is very close to Roger Stone) all of this was ready to activate. Talk about pre meditation.
by Anonymous | reply 42 | July 12, 2022 6:05 PM |
Super creepy electronically disguised voice. Telling the truth can get you killed in MAGA world.
by Anonymous | reply 43 | July 12, 2022 6:05 PM |

Kayleigh M's lawyer is the son of Mark Meadows' lawyer. I guess representing anti-democratic fascists is a family business. He was also one of Trump's US Attorneys.
by Anonymous | reply 46 | July 12, 2022 6:07 PM |
"I'm ready to die for my beliefs, are you ready to die, Police?" -MAGAT
by Anonymous | reply 47 | July 12, 2022 6:08 PM |

by Anonymous | reply 54 | July 12, 2022 6:11 PM |
Too bad the cops didn't shoot more of the rioters...since one said, we are ready to die.
Think about the fact that when people go off about Muslims who commit terrorism, it literally takes destroying their countries and killing hundreds of thousands to millions over decades for them to attack. It only took a white trash sore loser clown bitch losing a democratic election for these white people to go feral.
by Anonymous | reply 55 | July 12, 2022 6:12 PM |
Sidney and her Dr Pepper. She’s a cow.
by Anonymous | reply 56 | July 12, 2022 6:12 PM |

by Anonymous | reply 57 | July 12, 2022 6:13 PM |
The violent take over by right wing mobs. Just like they took over the Supreme Court. An overthrow of the will of the people. We are very VERY close to losing our Democracy.
by Anonymous | reply 58 | July 12, 2022 6:15 PM |
It’s a Diet Dr. Pepper, R56. Which makes her a heifer.
The tanned, silver haired man sitting behind Jamie Raskin is making my mussy very moist, indeed.
by Anonymous | reply 59 | July 12, 2022 6:15 PM |
first they scream law and order and in the next moment they scream "kill all Democrats, man, woman and child".
that is what we are up against.
by Anonymous | reply 60 | July 12, 2022 6:17 PM |
The Republicans, who always scream about the rule of law, do not follow the rule of law.

ANY person claiming to have proof that Trump actually won, he wanted to hear from. Every single bullshit conspiracy that claimed he really won, he wanted to hear. If you told him he lost, you were done.
by Anonymous | reply 62 | July 12, 2022 6:18 PM |
R61, what don't they project about?
by Anonymous | reply 63 | July 12, 2022 6:19 PM |
After that midnight meeting with all the shouting, it seems Trump was left alone boiling mad. He sent the tweet. It tells me he solely responsible for what happened on January 6th. He made the first move. Thus, all the blood is on his hands.
by Anonymous | reply 64 | July 12, 2022 6:20 PM |
"I'm a pepper....wouldn't you like to be a pepper, too..."

Pat Cipollone: from Wikipedia
The family moved to Northern Kentucky, where he graduated from Covington Catholic High School in 1984.
Covington Catholic High School also home to a more famous Trumper Nick Sandmann

God I hate that smug face R67.
by Anonymous | reply 68 | July 12, 2022 6:24 PM |
Witness wearing a Jeans Jacket, he really pulled out his best wardrobe for this.
by Anonymous | reply 69 | July 12, 2022 6:24 PM |
Those red wedding videos might be the smoking gun...not so much for Trump, but for many of his sycophantic cronies.
by Anonymous | reply 70 | July 12, 2022 6:25 PM |
They just DEMOLISHED any alibi or shadow of any excuse Trump might use to defend himself, and they rubbed Sydney Powell's face in her own deranged STUPIDITY. Giuliani shown to be a pathetic, laughable ass-kisser, in Congress, on live national television.
by Anonymous | reply 71 | July 12, 2022 6:25 PM |
Cipollone threw Trump ALL THE WAY under the bus, lol.
by Anonymous | reply 72 | July 12, 2022 6:27 PM |
This witness in the jean jacket looks like an alcoholic homeless guy.
by Anonymous | reply 73 | July 12, 2022 6:28 PM |
Is there any doubt that the current Republicans have devolved into the worst of the worst in American history?
by Anonymous | reply 74 | July 12, 2022 6:28 PM |
The bearded one looks bored. Wonder what’s on his T-shirt. Those little pins on his “coat”. I thought there would be some sort of dress code.
by Anonymous | reply 75 | July 12, 2022 6:30 PM |
ABC is talking about the midterms. Why? This hearing isn't interesting enough for them?
by Anonymous | reply 76 | July 12, 2022 6:32 PM |
R75, it gives them “authenticity,” though. These guys seem very neo-Nazi.
by Anonymous | reply 77 | July 12, 2022 6:33 PM |
How much did that little cunt Sandmann at R67 pocket from his various lawsuits?
by Anonymous | reply 78 | July 12, 2022 6:33 PM |
How could any American think this kind of behavior was okay?
by Anonymous | reply 79 | July 12, 2022 6:33 PM |
Nobody, but NOBODY, tells Trump he lost!
Trump DOES NOT LOSE!.
by Anonymous | reply 80 | July 12, 2022 6:33 PM |
Actually, he’s been a loser all his life.
by Anonymous | reply 81 | July 12, 2022 6:39 PM |
Trump pardon aside, Flynn and Stone need to be jailed for their involvement.
by Anonymous | reply 82 | July 12, 2022 6:40 PM |
The Brooks Brothers riot was a demonstration at a meeting of election canvassers in Miami-Dade County, Florida, on November 22, 2000, during a recount of votes made during the 2000 United States presidential election, with the goal of shutting down the recount. After demonstrations and acts of violence, local officials shut down the recount early.
The name referenced the protesters' corporate attire; described by Paul Gigot in an editorial for The Wall Street Journal as "50-year-old white lawyers with cell phones and Hermès ties," differentiating them from local citizens concerned about vote counting.
Many of the demonstrators were Republican staffers.
Both Roger Stone and Brad Blakeman take credit for managing the riot from a command post, although their accounts contradict each other.
by Anonymous | reply 83 | July 12, 2022 6:42 PM |
Stone looks like a cartoon character
by Anonymous | reply 84 | July 12, 2022 6:42 PM |
Flynn should be tried and court-martialed separate from all of this.
Did his cunt son receive a pardon?
by Anonymous | reply 85 | July 12, 2022 6:42 PM |
He was president and he has a huge base of insane gun-toting hillbillies.

Ms. Murphy needs to correctly pronounce Cipollone.
by Anonymous | reply 96 | July 12, 2022 6:54 PM |

He's not going to be charged because it can't be proved that he intended to unleash a mob, even though it's clear that he did.
by Anonymous | reply 101 | July 12, 2022 6:57 PM |
Yuck. Bannon.
by Anonymous | reply 102 | July 12, 2022 6:57 PM |

"he is not going to be charged"= or else.
by Anonymous | reply 104 | July 12, 2022 6:59 PM |

Does the former Twitter employee have gayvoice, or is just the distortion?
by Anonymous | reply 110 | July 12, 2022 7:05 PM |
Originally I thought these hearings were important, but would have "no result" in terms of Trump's legal status or national support. I am slowly changing my mind.

I felt pity for the red headed witness. Stephen Ayres. He seems like a fundamentally good family man. And he's not intelligent, has low critical thinking and information literacy, and he really followed Trump. And Trump destroyed his life. He's very lucky he only was guilty of "disorderly conduct".
Rinse repeat for thousands of people, perhaps.

Maybe you should ask all the whites up in The Bronx and Brooklyn who can't say "ask". It's simply an effect of the accent they developed growing up. The same reason people have trouble pronouncing words in foreign languages they have no experience with. The way our mouths and tongues move when we speak is hardwired into our brains at a certain point in life, and it's hard to change those speech patterns.

It's clear to me that this was always in the back of Trump's mind should he somehow 'lose' the 2020 election. He just didn't think he would lose by that much. He was hoping for 2000 redux, losing by 100 votes in Florida.
But he incredibly went ahead with it anyway! All his life he's gotten what he wanted, so why would this be any different? He thought the whole world- all his fans- would conspire with him to achieve a fake victory.

No, it doesn't start with Twitter. It starts with the FEDs who were warned over and over and over again. My friend works for a monitoring company and the Feds were warned about this long before it happened. They didn't take it seriously because these were white terrorists. I don't know why anyone is shocked by LE not taking WHITE terrorism seriously when a lot of them are sympathizers within its ranks or simply think white people shit gold and piss rainbows and are incapable of being savages. He did not win the election in 2016 and he expected the same grift to work in 2020.
But the grift only works when there is low voter turnout, it worked in 2001 and it worked in 2016. Too many citizens participated in the election of 2020 to grift.
"The Brooks Brothers riot was a demonstration at a meeting of election canvassers in Miami-Dade County, Florida, on November 22, 2000, during a recount of votes made during the 2000 United States presidential election, with the goal of shutting down the recount. After demonstrations and acts of violence, local officials shut down the recount early. "

Any President / advisor privilege in the law would HAVE to be waived where the commission of a crime is concerned, and what Bannon is saying above, that Trump planned to do, is CLEARLY pure and utter TREASON. So there would be a presumption that a Judge could review the call tapes or transcripts and if they show criminal intent (as they CERTAINLY will), they would not be protected by any privilege. Locking Trump up for this may be politically VERY difficult, but I seriously expect that motherfucker Bannon could get 10-20 years in Federal prison for this if any evidence backs this up re discussions with the White House or others near it. -R310

Cheney said the unheard from witness was contacted by DJT, but he or she didn’t take, or return, the call.
Now making an attempted phone call to someone (even someone who’s a witness in a federal proceeding) is not proof of witness tampering.
However, Cheney and the Committee never reveal all they know. She also said they turned “their information” over to DOJ.
Makes me think they turned over more than the mere fact of an unanswered call.

R245, that witness Ayres was obviously a stupid person. He seems regretful now. Maybe too selfish to understand how much pain he caused, but at least sorry he got caught. That’s something at least. These people are honestly stupid and not logical or rational thinkers, combined with selfish and entitled and that’s just the worst possible combination. The only explanation for how someone could blindly follow Trump without question is they loved his cruelty. He has no other notable features.
On CNN tonight, they interviewed some of the officers in the room today. One said he didn’t feel sorry for him when he said he lost his job and was going to lose his house, and his life would never be the same and seemed to invite pity. The officer said he was texting officer Brian Sicknick’s widow during his statement. She was pissed as hell.

R121, thanks! And, indeed, R406.
Warning possibly tl;dr category:
Yesterday when i finished @my local urgent care (dx:strep throat, baby!) and returned home, walked in the front door and 1st thing i saw was Rep. Murphy's tiny deep red bow of a mouth. So, yeah very Bow-ish/Gish-esque.
Been here a VERY long time, and some of you guys are generally familiar with my posts/style...and thank God for you, because my brain's just wired that way. I'm forever seeing/hearing/reading things to which I start seeing parallels. EVERYWHERE. Drove my students mad/exasperated/entertained for 3+ decades. Same with the friends I used to have.
So Datalounge has been my rescue; plus where else could I make a Clara Bow/Lillian Gish reference without seeing the virtual eyes glaze over...virtually.
Which led to my 2nd observation @R260: Jamie Raskin's hair that took me right back to my idyllic childhood where I learned to read at 2 years old; and I loved loved loved our [italic]Child Craft[/italic] and [italic]World Book[/italic] sets. Love them still. And at least my 4 older siblings totally get THOSE reference!
I do love Rep. Raskin's passion and intelligence.
And I am wishin', hopin', prayin' we have the resolve and balls to turn this country around, so all kids CAN have childhoods like mine: instilled love of reading, loving and engaged parents' appreciation of intellect and learning styles, encouraging didactic and dialectical learning, and especily autodidacticism; forbearance, and Sooooooo much love for my country.
I do what I can....but I am SO happy I never had children.
Thanks, DL.

Meanwhile over the NYT, they are crafting new stories about how increasing evidence of Trump's criminal behavior is bad for Biden and decreasing his poll numbers
by Anonymous | reply 409 | July 13, 2022 11:42 AM |
the nyt is responsible for normalizing an unsuitable POTUS candidate whose term in office has diminished the standing of the United States as a world power and destabilized our democratic principles.
Hillary had plenty of baggage, but that baggage comes with experience.
Clinton served as first Lady for eight years during a period of expansive economic growth, 8 years as NYS Senator and as Secretary of state.
It was insulting to have someone so accomplished compete with the host of The Apprentice for the highest seat in the land.
Dump didn't belong on stage with Clinton as a serious candidate for the position, he has no accomplishments other than be born wealthy.
Biden maybe old and infirm.
Biden may have low poll numbers.
But American citizens knew better than to put his predecessor back into office to finish off the American democratic experiment.
Why does the NYTs hate America?

At one point, Patsy Baloney stated that the reason he didn't attend a meeting was privileged. It was one of those raging, planning meetings. What could possibly be privileged about the reason for not attending a meeting? Especially when there was no privilege between him and anyone in that meeting?
One thing I'm worried about with all of this is that it will make it completely impossible for the Democrats to actually protest a future stolen election. What happens when some red states decide to send false electors again or break their own laws in 2024 and fail to declare the popular vote winner in their state the winner if it's Biden? What if there are elector shenanigans and Kamala Harris really can't certify the electors because of legitimate cheating in some states? I know, we're supposed to count on the courts but these states are changing their laws and the Supreme Court may give the states complete control of this in their next session.
The whole thing where the Repugs keep saying, "We didn't find enough evidence of voter fraud that it would have changed the outcome." instead of the truth of them not having found any voter fraud (except by Repugs, of course), seems to be setting up that state-level narrative. We all know the Repugs project their crimes with their own accusations. That being the case, they are now free to cheat because no Democrat can ever, ever call out that actual cheating without having "but you always said we had the most secure elections".
On CNN's "New Day," correspondent Kristin Holmes reported that Donald Trump has been "riveted" by the televised hearings being conducted by the House select committee looking into the Jan 6th insurrection and that he has been badgering friends and aides about how he is coming across in them.
Speaking with host John Berman, Holmes also stated that Trump's inner circle is worried he is obsessing over the hearings when they would prefer that he be concentrating on the upcoming midterm elections.
"Trump is always watching, we are told, riveted, according to new CNN reporting," host Berman began. "Trump was particularly angry after hearing his former staffers and White House counsel."
Asking Holmes, "What have you learned?" she replied, "We've heard he's always following these hearings and that's much to the chagrin of those around him who would hope that he would focus on the November midterms."
"But behind closed doors he's always talking about these hearings, asking those around him how they think they're playing out," she continued. "In his speeches and rallies he prattles on about the committee, attacking them; his social media page is a never-ending rant, essentially just attacking leaders of the committee and even talking about more obscure members of the committee and interviews they do on cable news."
"So clearly here focusing very heavily on this. One of his biggest gripes, being still that none of these witnesses are being cross-examined and he feels he doesn't have anyone defending him, particularly after yesterday's hearing," she added. "He's not the only one focused on this. We also heard from a source close to Roger Stone who told us that Stone is watching these hearings very carefully because he believes, quote, 'the committee is trying to put him in peril.'"

R416, and that's why we can't allow the term "Team Normal" to be normalized. There is no team normal on the Republican side with the exception of Cheney and Kinziger and any lawyers helping the 1/6 committee like John Wood who was a (R) and is now running as an (I) for the senate seat in MO.
Even many of the lawyers representing witnesses are former Trump lawyers and/or Republican lawyers. Every fucking one of them has done their part to enable the dismantling of this nation and are now trying to help the ones directly involved in Trump's lies/policies over the years, get away with their roles.

Those aren't 'Team Normal' either. Save in the context of bringing the Trump fascists to justice, Cheney, Kinzinger and the lot are themselves still unacceptable as hell, as what one might characterize as 'pre-Trump deplorables.' We cannot allow extremism to re-set our standards.

Look, we've always had conservatives and believe me, I loathe Cheney in every other way imaginable, but trying to take him down and not normalize this anti-democratic behavior, puts those two on "Team Normal."
Raskin himself said that he hopes to get back to arguing with Cheney on political policy. She is now being unseated with help of the very asshole who first mentioned "team Normal." 1. I have no idea why Meadows' testimony is on any kind of voluntary basis. Perhaps he's invoked a legal privilege as Trump's former adviser. I don't know. It hasn't worked very well for ole Steve Bannon as of now.
2. NO ONE has thusfar debunked a word of what Cassidy Hutchinson testified to. If they could have, they WOULD have, way over a week ago, before the July 4th holiday weekend. Cipollone did not contradict her. She told the truth.

by Anonymous | reply 425 | July 13, 2022 3:34 PM |
Trump’s inner circle increasingly views Meadows as a likely fall guy for the former president’s attempts to overturn the 2020 election. Members of Trump’s legal team are actively planning certain strategies around Meadows’ downfall — including possible criminal charges. Trump has himself begun the process of distancing himself from some of his onetime senior aide’s alleged actions around Jan. 6.
Meadows’ already bleak legal prospects could get even worse. Rolling Stone has learned that the Jan. 6 committee has been quietly probing his financial dealings, and any new revelations would add to an already long list of unethical and potential illegal actions he’s accused of taking on behalf of Donald Trump.

John Dean went to jail, as did Haldeman and Elichmann. They were Whitee House advisors, Chuck Colson, also a WH advisor went to jail. At the time of his testimony, Dean had resigned as the White House Counsel. The position Pat Cippolini held under Trump
This was so much wose. At the very least, Trump, Rudy, Bannon, Stephen Miller, Flynn and Eastman as well as Sidney Powell and Roger fucking Stone ought to go to prison for a substantial period. Certainly not less than 5-10 years. As for that guy Ayres who lost his job, etc? I do not feel one ounce of pity for him. I was disgusted with him trying to apologize to the cops, like, "Oops, sorry!" will erase the damage that was done by him and thousands of others. He is typical of all these loonies who do not trust the media so they "do their own research" and get caught up with the fake news and conspiracy theories. They are predisposed to believe that shit because they don't like Gays or Black people or "liberals."
He had no reluctance to march on the Capitol. He could see what the mob was doing. At no time did he look around him and say, "Damn. This is not cool. I'm out!" No. He went into the Capitol. We have seen the footage. We have seen what those cops were dealing with. He was part of that. He ought to be made an example of. Lost his job, his home, and he is going to jail?(Not sure about the jail part.) People died that day. Hundreds were permanently injured. And the people who worked in the Capitol were in fear for their lives. So fuck M. Ayres.

All 50 state Republican party organizations were involved in fundraising, organizing transportation and housing, and recruiting participants for the 1/6 mess. In many red states there was direct coordination with local militia groups, Oathkeepers and Proud boys. The MAGA Trumpers who had infiltrated state GOP organizations were especially aggressive, thuggish pigs who also engaged in voter intimidation while working on state political campaigns. The GOP members of Congress knew the same people who ran their campaigns and donated to them were also a part of 1/6. You can thank Roger Stone for that efficiency. It is what he does and has done since the late 60's as one of Nixon's minions. It was a no brainer since the state Trump campaign organizations were still available following the November election.
Something's up.
Does anyone have a link for this?
( I believe it. I just want to read more and my google has failed.)

R481 That's very interesting. She would have been an aggressive, effective AG. And, ironically, moving on all these matters successfully would have set her up better for 2024 (if Biden decides not to run) than her performance as VP.
Ah, hindsight is perfect.

Rep. Jamie Raskin Details What To Expect During Nest Primetime Jan. 6 Hearing

Poor Jamie needs to do something with his hair.
by Anonymous | reply 485 | July 15, 2022 3:44 PM |
R485 Absolutely. Folks are just so blind about their own appearance. He has good bone structure in general. Just cutting it all very short would help.
He is, perhaps, the best public speaker in congress. He reminds me of Gov Cuomo (the father, not the sleazeball son) - able to be eloquent and have that eloquence make the message MORE available to Average Joe, not less.

With terrible hair.
Can't have it all.

As someone who has worked in legal and been through mounds of discovery documents, text messages being deleted does not mean they're not recoverable. The act of deleting itself is an attempt to erase evidence (spoliation), which should be prosecuted, but those messages can be retrieved, and should be retrieved.

There needs to be DL set-up go fund me for Raskin’s hair.
He’s a brilliant, righteous man, but it who can focus on that when it looks like his hair is equal parts grease and shoe black.
by Anonymous | reply 494 | July 15, 2022 5:21 PM |
Just needs it shorter. I have a similar hair type, lousy. Coarse and wispy. Shorter hair is neater.
by Anonymous | reply 495 | July 15, 2022 5:24 PM |
Since everyone is weighing in on Raskin’s hair, I have to say I don’t mind it. It’s not stylish, for sure, but it reminds me, if not in color but style, of a hairstyle that the founders would have worn like Hamilton or Jefferson.

House Republicans are plotting revenge on the select committee investigating the January 6, 2021, insurrection.
Republican sources say there have been discussions about subpoenaing members of the select committee, particularly Liz Cheney Adam Kinzinger.
Other investigative ideas under consideration among House Republicans include establishing their own select committee -- or repurposing the current one -- to investigate matters such as Speaker Nancy Pelosi's role in Capitol security enforcement on January 6, 2021; the intelligence and security failures surrounding that day; and the treatment of the rioters who have been jailed for their role in the insurrection.

It has been claimed that these texts were deleted only incidentally as part of a program to update all of the equipment, which they say had been planned well before the OIG requests to preserve the Jan 5/6 texts, and that it wasn't on purpose. °–°
If the equipment was replaced, it's possible that they're not recoverable. Nonetheless, they're trying.

R502, I believe them. Just like I believed them when those same assholes immediately tried to discredit Hutchinson, because it's perfectly logical to take the word of anonymous people who clearly were deplorables, saying things anonymously and not under oath, to challenge someone who is risking her life and was willing to go under oath.

Jamie Raskin's son committed suicide right before 1/6. Him taking on this committee role just proves what a mensch he is, a lesser person would've been crippled with grief but he's doing the right thing for the country.

If the GOP regains the House there is NO WAY Kevin McCarthy will willingly give up his shot at Speaker. The question is will he have enough support to fend off a challenge from Trump or a Trump suppoted challenge.

Michael Cohen said Trump rarely if ever makes phone calls himself, so if he is personally calling people he is 'melting down':
"Donald Trump never changes his playbook," Cohen told The Washington Post. "He behaves like a mob boss, and these messages are fashioned in that style. Giving an order without giving the order. No fingerprints attached."
by Anonymous | reply 515 | July 16, 2022 3:19 PM |
Wouldn't a government agency have text messages sent while on the job stored somewhere as part of a regular back-up process? I know of businesses that do that, so why not the DHS, which manages the Secret Service?
by Anonymous | reply 516 | July 16, 2022 4:34 PM |
Garland has failed to be pro-active with any of this. I am tired of hearing all the excuses for his inaction and what a professional government server he is. If he is too wimpy and/or lazy for the task at hand, he needed to have resigned many months ago. If he is personally opposed to prosecuting top Republicans for alleged federal crimes, he needs to step aside. If he is worried about the political aftermath resulting from filing indictments, that is not suppose to be his primary focus. Go when the evidence leads.

I saw some discussion last night that said the SS agents were supposed to be backing up their messages as part of procedure but many did not. Don’t know if that’s just cover for if/when they can’t recover anything.
