I know 5 Latina professionals that traveled from different areas of the country to attend this conference as part of their involvement in nonprofit work that services Latino communities. None of them took issue with the speech and were posting how excited they were to see Dr. Biden speak at the event. I spoke to two of them to ask what their thoughts were on the criticism of the speech. Both felt it was a story being propelled by opportunistic conservatives trying to frame the administration as out of touch and further promote the idea that Latinos are better off supporting Republicans. I cannot wrap my head around the belief that this clumsy speech is anyway indicative of an administration's policies or bears any resemblance to the aggressively stupid and hostile commentary coming from the nightmare of a president we endured prior to Biden. No one at this event cared and yet the fringe on both sides are blowing up this non-story.
