Gay men in caftans: Have you ever spotted one in the flesh?

I'm sure I once saw a picture of a caftaned Merv Griffin that may have started it all, but it seems to have disappeared from the web.

I have only heard of the caftan meme on this website, much less seen a gay man actually wearing one in real life.

I own one. Does that count?

Wasn't it more of a 60s/70s thing?

I've mentioned this before. One of my boyfriends was a pawnbroker and occasionally did house calls to the rich and famous. Usually it was during non-business hours when someone needed a lot of cash for some reason. There were a couple of times when we already had plans, so he ended up taking me me along with him. One of these times, we went to Merv Griffin's house in Trousdale Estates. Merv came out dressed in a caftan.

No, but I wear them. FWIW, I'm a woman. I've seen Arabic men wearing gowns, in real life, but I don't think those were caftans or that the men were gay. I could be wrong.

I'm 58yo sgwm, as I enter my eldergay golden years, seems like caftans might be a comfortable option at some point, something breathable, lite weight, Colorful, as long as it makes me feel pretty. :-)

I had a friend with benefits way back when I was young, he was a gorgeous Jewish queen and wore a long flowing mauve and gold floral caftan with hoop earrings and jewellery, he had beautiful long dark blond hair so he carried it off really well. It was easy to get off when I made love to him too! This was back in the 80's so he was a holdover from the caftan wearers of the 60's and 70's R4 mentions

I'm 68 and have only ever seen one person wearing a caftan...he was the biggest queen I've ever known...and that was around the mid-seventies.

I’d wear a caftan if they made it in my size.

One particular queen in our little village always wears them and posts images of him doing so on FB and other social media.
