The ultimate in Both-Sidesism
And fittingly retweeted by Maggie Haberman
[quote] When confronted with crisis, both stumbled. Trump’s failure to take COVID seriously doomed his re-election. Biden’s failure to deliver on return to normal + his deliberative style when fast action is wanted/warranted, has dragged his admin down.

Everyone needs to learn to think about the Democratic party differently.
It. Doesn’t. Exist.
It’s an alliance of smaller groups that all know being a third party is nonviable.
We have a system that viciously punishes third parties by causing them to hurt whichever of the two big parties they are more closely aligned with ideologically. You can only work directly against your own interest outside of the confines of one of the two big parties. That is a huge issue but reform of first past the post and other structural concerns are now impossible without the consent of the minority that used those flaws to grip power, at least while working legally within the existing system.
The Republican party is a bad faith actor all the way down. It is a grift, it is intentionally breeding ignorance, violence and hate. It is trying to be the worst it can be. Supporting the Republican party is not an option for anyone with a brain and a heart. Supporting a third party IS supporting the republican party for the reasons outlined above.
Therefore, the “Democratic Party” is just left to be the Big Tent Party for EVERYONE ELSE. People who want very different things. Who represent wildly different districts with different agendas. True progressives that believe in the cause and want to help defend rights have only one practical option - be a dem and try and help the party win against the GOP while trying to shape the party’s desires from within. Anyone who would have been a republican 15 years ago but who isn’t hate filled or so greedy nothing else matters but their own tax rate also has no practical options besides being a democrat while trying to help the party win against the GOP while trying to shape the party’s desires from within. So the Democratic party will never fall in line and vote uniformly in favor of anything with things as they stand.

The only solution for the American people is to keep aggressively supporting the democratic party while putting effort into primarying democrats and removing incumbents who show their stripes and are not willing to go far enough. It isn’t fair. It’s frustrating as hell. But its the only viable strategy besides just violently demanding the Senate and Electoral College both be drastically reformed with a new constitution that doesn’t multiply the power of your vote the lower the population of your state gets.
