He was hot and no less talented than other pretty boys in Hollywood. Shame John Carter flopped despite being a testament to his beauty.
by Anonymous | reply 1 | July 6, 2022 11:14 PM |
He'll need to fork out for that hair implant patch up. Maybe he could score a fashion deal. I've always wondered how much the big stars get for those. I know Charlese got a flat $1 million simply for allowing her face to be used in the advertising for a banal apartment tower.
by Anonymous | reply 2 | July 6, 2022 11:15 PM |
I’ve got an offer for him. $20, but he has to bring his own thong.
by Anonymous | reply 3 | July 6, 2022 11:16 PM |
It's almost poetic that he starred in Snakes on a Plane with Kitsch as a surname.
Also, why the hell not go into voice over work. Hollywood has been churning out comic book cartoonist crap for so long, atleast he doesn't take himself so seriously to be 'above' certain work.
by Anonymous | reply 4 | July 6, 2022 11:24 PM |
His sex scene in Snakes on a Plane was jack off material in my teen years. I usually wasn't into long-haired guys but he and Brendan Fraser in George of the Jungle really turned me on.

Those tortured, smoldering pretty boys with their puffy lips and tight bodies in their 20s that turn to something else entirely in their 40s. Ryan Phillipe is the only one who seems to be barely holding on.

Fraser aged harder and way faster. By the mid-2000s he looked rough and he was only in his mid-30s. Kitsch is in his 40s and still looks pretty young, he has better genes.

by Anonymous | reply 27 | July 7, 2022 2:05 AM |
R1 "John Carter" was more a marketing failure than anything else. If it had been handled correctly, it probably could have spawn a franchise, albeit a weak one. It certainly wasn't Kitsch's fault that it flopped.
Unfortunately, he's in his 40s now and the bloom is basically off his rose.

He shouldn’t have chased the movie stardom and stuck to tv shows. He would have had a bigger career.
Do what Jennifer Aniston did. Keep trying to do shows until you get one that sticks and does well and do movies in between seasons etc.
Everyone says the same thing about him. He was incredibly charismatic and charming on the small screen (and that made him a fan favorite), but his charisma and charm doesn’t translate to the big screen for some reason.

He was hot in that movie, but the CGI was awful (Attack of the Clones arena creatures awful) and was otherwise an awful movie. In addition, Taylor has one of those faces that look so hot at one angle but fade into the screen in others. That may explain R37's comment: "He was incredibly charismatic and charming on the small screen (and that made him a fan favorite), but his charisma and charm doesn’t translate to the big screen for some reason."

Critics also tore HIM apart in that movie. And they were right. He was wooden and lacked any presence or charisma.
by Anonymous | reply 62 | July 7, 2022 8:04 PM |
John Carter had pretty Taylor Kitsch showing a lot of skin. So it seemed they wanted a heartthrob to be the lead and appeal to both boys and girls. But it didn't appeal to straight boys much. Comic franchises like Thor and Captain America suits and bodybuilder physiques appeal to boys. And also marketable with toys.

R71 True. But honestly Hollywood is irrelevant nowadays anyway. He should have focused more on TV series because that's his strength. Jennifer Aniston and Matthew Fox tried to be Hollywood too but failed and went back to TV or Netflix.
by Anonymous | reply 73 | July 7, 2022 9:31 PM |
Aniston didn’t fail. She starred in a handful of movies that made over $100 million. She went back to TV because that’s where all the best stories and parts for women are now. Especially over 50s.
by Anonymous | reply 74 | July 7, 2022 9:33 PM |
Most her movies were garbage and she didn't need to work after Friends. None of her films will last the test of time. That was all her ego. The best stories are for good actresses not variations of Rachel Green.

R88 you know IMDb is free to use? He didn't get just one role and stopped acting years ago. I assume he's comfortably secure and saved and invested his money well given simple appearance and low profile. Of all the trash in Hollywood, it's odd to go after someone so innocuous.

Three acting jobs in small budget films in 2017.
One acting role in a small cartoon film in 2016.
True Detective in 2015 and nothing else.

R91 but that isn’t what you said. You didn’t say anything about living within his means. You said he’s filthy rich and able to pick and choose roles because of it. You also said he doesn’t need to work….
Not the same as living within your means.
by Anonymous | reply 94 | July 15, 2022 3:43 PM |
r85 one thing DL knows is that Hollwyood is smoke and mirrors. Hardly anyone is make as much as people assume they make. Even the big names with $10 million per film contracts are still taking home $4-5 per film after taxes and staff fees. Most actors aren't even making $5 million per film to you do the math. They have to support themseleve and maybe their family with absolutly no insight into future earnings.
r93 layed out a bleak review of his limited opportunites the past few years. At 40 he's struggling to find work and only going to get older with more and more people forgetting about his breakout role on FNL. Even his John Wick movie wouldn't have paid him out big because those blockbusters command the attention of every young hot actor. If Tyler or anyone balks at the salary, the studio has there pick of 10-20 other bankable options. Same deal with Armie Hammer. His biggest blockbuster was The Lone Ranger in 2013. The movie flopped but I gurantee the only person that was paid handsomly was Johnny Depp and maybe Helena Bonham Carter. Today, Armie is (rich people-) broke.
So yes, Taylor is likely desperate for work. Especially when you get to the point to saying to the press that you'd take almost anything. It's sad really but also shows why so many actresses and actors end up on yatch. Not playing, Kitsch is just the type to end up doing the yatch circuit (if desperate enough) alongside people like Chance Crawford before he landed his smallish part in The Boys.
by Anonymous | reply 95 | July 15, 2022 3:57 PM |
Last point, the Marvel movies pay most of the their leads under a million for their first films. Of course they all knew they would have much more lucrative options because they were alsmost guranteed to be a success after Iron Man worked out beutifually but Tom Holland, Chris Evans, Chis Hemsworth, and maybe Chris Pratt all had laughably small deals on their frist Marvel films. OS if Marvel is paying peanuts for V 1.0 of their box office smash films, then other blockbusters are paying peanuts as well. The actos just hope and pary for it to turn into a movie series.
by Anonymous | reply 96 | July 15, 2022 4:00 PM |
Yes r96. Chris Evans was paid $500k for the first Captain America. I think Hemsworth was paid even less for Thor because he was less known.
The catch with those Marvel movies is the contracts tie you into numerous films and you get a pay raise with each one. I remember Hemsworth saying another good thing about being in those movies is that it allows them to be more picky with roles outside of Marvel for more money. It doesn’t matter how badly the films flop, either, because you always have Marvel to fall back on.
by Anonymous | reply 97 | July 15, 2022 4:24 PM |
Same with WB/DC. I remember it making headlines when Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman salary was released. She was paid like $500k for the first. People automatically started the women make less nonsense but in reality that’s the case for all those superhero movies.
She saw a big raise for the sequel.
by Anonymous | reply 98 | July 15, 2022 4:25 PM |
R95 that’s why actors try making as much as they can while young. As you get older, unless you have high respect value and massive name recognition still like DeNiro or Pacino or Washington, you are offered shit.
Kitsch was someone Hollywood tried making a movie star after he gained massive popularity on a tv show, and the public never took the bait. He also never gained enough self-awareness to jump back into the TV game early on while still very young and capitalize off of that. Instead he kept trying the movie career that wasn’t happening and he wasn’t getting offered any roles practically.
Now he’s practically begging for work.
He should have humbled himself and tried more tv work.
by Anonymous | reply 99 | July 15, 2022 4:30 PM |
Also, that’s why so many actors try getting as many credits as possible on films, because as just an actor they have to pay so much to everyone else and only get about 40-50% of that paycheck, but if they’re a producer on that hit movie etc. they get another paycheck plus bonuses.
Tom Holland just got a $20 million bonus for Spider-Man, and Zendaya a $10 million bonus. The bonus usually belongs to just them.
by Anonymous | reply 100 | July 15, 2022 4:32 PM |
Damn, Zendaya had it best. She could phone in her parts of that last movie, didn't have to wokrout like crazy for a 30 second underwear shot, like TOm, and walks away with $10 million. She's only 25 years old. She worked 1/4 as hard as Tom in that movie but puts away $10 million, crazy numbers from these super hero movies.
The really crazy thing is that Taylor is at least slightly known and begging. What do those flash in the pan actors do cause the media won't bother printing their sob stories. I guess it's either sucking dick, becoming a real estate agent, go behind the scnes, become a personal trainer, or move back home to Kansas.

R101 $10 million BONUS. That isn’t her initial paycheck, which was reportedly between $7-$10 million. So that’s an extra $10 million bonus on top.
She also makes $100k per episode to star in Euphoria, much more than the rest of the cast. Plus she’s an Exec Producer there and holds a lot of power, so I’m sure she gets bonus money there too.
by Anonymous | reply 105 | July 15, 2022 5:14 PM |

Too many actors who experience a certain level of success end of living way beyond their mean and expect to have the income stay the same or even continue to increase over the years, which of course rarely happens. The smart ones live smartly as well and maybe purchase a home at a reasonable price and stash the rest away. Taylor always lived frugally and he probably doesn't have to work if he doesn't want to.

Any attempts she made outside of shitty rom coms were bombs. Any attempts at drama or action, she failed. She was only capable of playing herself or Rachel, basically the same thing.
Her first post-Friends films all bombed. “Derailed”, “Rumor Has It”, and “Friends with Money” were hyped up as her crossover into being a full time actress. All of them bombed.
Luckily she had “The Break Up” but she never maintained consistency as an actress or a box office star. She was no Julia Roberts.

Somebody should have told him very early on that he had little acting talent and to save his pennies.
by Anonymous | reply 117 | July 17, 2022 7:38 AM |
Any openings in the Caymans?
by Anonymous | reply 118 | July 17, 2022 8:05 AM |
John Carter lost the studio hundreds of millions

This court case is going to be interesting: one of the most outrageous examples of 'studio accounting' in years.

R120 they didn’t lose money on that film. They just don’t wanna pay him.

Bohemian Rhapsody made so much profit that they gave Brian, Roger and Mary huge bonuses! Mary was given a $30-$40 million bonus for allowing her likeness in the film after the film was a blockbuster.
They clearly just don’t wanna pay this person, for whatever reason.

I wonder how much Rami Malek got. It's never come out. Even it it had been a straight salary deal, you'd have to imagine he was given he was given some kind of bonus. Or maybe not? A $60 million film that turns over $900 m (and it's still earning) is pretty rare.

R123 I do wonder what they gave Rami also

[quote]"Loved John Carter. Saw it in a theater 4 times."
And my neighbor's handsome son Joel accompanied me at least twice.
We still screen it sometimes in my living room.

He needs to fix that struggling hairline.
by Anonymous | reply 126 | August 3, 2022 4:58 PM |
So awful in THE NORMAL HEART, though.
by Anonymous | reply 127 | August 3, 2022 5:44 PM |
OP didn’t read the whole article. He’s been working non-stop.
by Anonymous | reply 128 | August 3, 2022 5:55 PM |
R128 in small shit
by Anonymous | reply 129 | August 3, 2022 6:20 PM |
OP is obsessed with this actor for some reason. It's like he's deeply offended that Taylor Kitsch exists and is happy they are in minor projects and not an A-list star. I don't get it. What did Taylor Kitsch do to you, OP? He's in a similar position of 90% of Hollywood, only the top 10% is gets big headlining roles and lucrative deals.

R130 first thread I ever made on him. But you’re so stupid that 1 is probably too hard for you to count
by Anonymous | reply 131 | August 4, 2022 11:08 AM |
R131 You're also immature because you need to insult everyone because you can't take criticism. Don't make threads if you can't handle dissenting opinions.

R132 "Obsessed" might be just a bit much, but no doubt very "mature" of you.
by Anonymous | reply 133 | August 7, 2022 1:37 AM |
I can see him as a suburban dad with a dark side, in some spooky cable series.
by Anonymous | reply 134 | August 7, 2022 1:48 AM |
R134 maybe he could join Shining Vale.
by Anonymous | reply 135 | August 7, 2022 2:06 AM |
Was he forced by his agents to do The Normal Heart?
by Anonymous | reply 136 | August 7, 2022 3:18 AM |
He now lives in Montana. Never married. No kids. GAY. GAY. GAY. He probably uses the "I'm Canadian" excuse like Ryan Reynolds...
by Anonymous | reply 137 | August 7, 2022 3:28 AM |
But isn't he right wing?
by Anonymous | reply 138 | August 7, 2022 3:29 AM |
^Yes. Here is Taylor Kitsch enjoying a casual weekend with his MAGA loving redneck friend Marcus Luttrell and Fox New host Brian Kilmeade.
I bet he plays all these Navy Seal roles bc Hollywood knows he's a right wing troll and nobody reputable wants to work with him anymore.
by Anonymous | reply 139 | August 8, 2022 9:15 AM |
Well that disappointing r139. I'm watching this cute movie called The Grand Seduction where a bunch of Newfies try to get his doctor character to move to their tiny town. I thought he was Timothy Olyphant for the first 20 minutes. I also liked John Carter
by Anonymous | reply 140 | January 29, 2023 1:16 AM |
Not sure if appearing on Fox to promote a newly released project makes one a right-wing nut.
by Anonymous | reply 141 | January 29, 2023 2:33 AM |
Is he problematic and no one wants to work with him? The few things I've seen him in, he was good.
by Anonymous | reply 142 | January 29, 2023 2:37 AM |
The reason he never made it big is because his penis looks like a squid. 🦑
by Anonymous | reply 143 | February 7, 2023 3:58 AM |
Wasn't he also in the good season of The Detectives?
by Anonymous | reply 144 | February 7, 2023 4:11 AM |
True Detective!
by Anonymous | reply 145 | February 7, 2023 4:19 AM |
He'd better come out as "Non-Binary or quickly adopt a kid, dress em up as the opposite sex and call em Trans if ever wants to ever work again!

I’m kind of shocked he outright said no to doing a FNL revival. He has a decent career, but it’s not earth shattering. FNL is one show I can totally see as a revival. It was a show that you always speculated where the characters would end up in the future. The writing was amazing and mature. There is a lot of story that could still be told about these characters. They are also still young enough to go in different directions. FNL was lightening in a bottle. Kitsch was perfect as Riggins. I will say, when I rewatch I don’t find him that attractive like I did when the show first aired. Matt was hotter in the later seasons. ZG turned into a hot daddy too. Anyway, it seems like other cast members are on board if they ever do it, but it wouldn’t be the same without Riggins.
by Anonymous | reply 147 | February 11, 2023 2:07 PM |
Is he gay?
by Anonymous | reply 148 | February 11, 2023 2:12 PM |
He was outstanding in Friday Night Lights.
by Anonymous | reply 149 | February 11, 2023 2:18 PM |
AGREED! GIVE US RIGGINS!

So I just spotted him at the Jamba Juice in the Denver Airport (Terminal B). I was waiting for my coffee and did three double takes to make sure I had the right guy. But you don’t forget a crush’s face. His hair is the same length as he had it in Friday Night Lights. He wore a hat and still looks in shape, but not ripped.
I was sure if I should asked for a selfie or left him alone. He left for the restroom before I could decide.
Either way, I was excited to see him and wanted to praise him for his work. Hollywood, hire this hunk!
Must be so odd to have been so close to fame only to be unrecognized by the public. But I never run into celebs so this was a treat. I was in Middle School when the Covenent came out. It had a huge impact on my taste in men.
