I haven't watched in years as the time commitment, from watching the thrice-weekly episodes & the live Pop overnight show, became prohibitive, especially with the increasing streaming options. But I'm now noticing that the live shows no longer appear on the Pop schedule. Is that something new? Is a CBS subscription now the only opportunity for live viewing?

R15, Since last year CBS issued a mandate for all of its reality shows to have equal racial representation. Last year, the black contestants formed an alliance on day one and all made it to the final 6. So it's become an issue for some people.

CBS made the decision that racism would be over and everybody would love each other and join hands and live as one, if the cast of Big Brother was more diverse. As you can see, the plan is working like a charm.

The scanning of the passes seemed suspect. I doubt any of them had a real barcode on them. Some took longer to scan, which was probably due to producers deciding which station to put them at. I think that Pooch was chosen well beforehand to be the Boss before he "scanned" his pass.

Pooch made a bad impression on me right away. He picked three "weak" players to go into backstage mode when I would have picked the two out of the three people who won their competitions. When you pick a strong competitor to suffer a tough consequence, you set up a better competition among them. When you select weak players to suffer a consequence, it makes you look like a bully.

When you pick weak players you have weak people coming after you. The point of this is to win, not get your approval, I don't care for Pooch but he made the right decision plus he gave a reasonable explanation for the selections.

What CBS did with Season 23, albeit unwittingly, is showed the world that they know how to make it fair, but that they just CHOOSE to NOT make it fair. The winner 100% depends on the casting of the show. Everything else is BULLSHIT!

It was a calculated decision by CBS to finally cast the show right as an attempt to absolve themselves of decades of discrimination and abuse of Black cast members. This was not done for Black people. It was 100% for the PR benefit of CBS. They knew if they cast enough competent Black players, they would get a Black winner. CBS now thinks they have clean hands in the eyes of the public and that the audience will just forget about all the previous discrimination because they allowed this one time "good deal." They allowed one FAIR season of Big Brother.

They have already stacked Season 24 to ensure there won't be a Black winner but it is not an admission of guilt on their part, it is just the opposite. They now think this is a justification to go back to the way it has always been, the way they like it (Non-Black winners only).

They insured there would not be a Black winner with not only by casting weak Black players, but also by the number of Blacks cast. CBS conveniently got out of their "goal" of having 6 Black Houseguests by replacing the 6th Black Houseguest (Marvin) at the last minute with a non-Black HG, because he lied? Are we to assume in the strict vetting process (which includes criminal background checks) that CBS didn't know Marvin was on America's Got Talent? C'mon! CBS constantly plays the audience for suckers.

But not only are the Black people not go-getters this season, neither is anyone else. I think they are all weak. Season 23 pretty much had all super fans. It was very exciting to see people actually playing the game. I realize we are only on week 2, but so far I am not impressed. It has been a non-stop Taylor rag fest. This year's cast is lame. But of course, as we've seen in many previous seasons, the White players don't have to be great players to win. They just have to be White.

CBS will get their White winner this year, but it is going to be a long BORING slog to the finish line! This will be bad TV for everyone. But don't for one minute think that the ending is not pre-determined. They have a top rated show! If CBS didn't apologize for 22 seasons of discrimination, why would they apologize for the one season that was fair? They won't because they know you will still watch regardless of what they do. Let me spell this out for those who think The Cookout was just swell:

They had one objective and that was to get all six Black HGs in the Final Six. ALL of them. That meant that the total waste of space that was Derek F was carried to the end although he was a horrible player who failed miserably at most of the comps. Derek X was also a minority and far more worthy to go far but nope, he wasn’t black. And the girl who had part South African Black and part Middle Eastern heritage was almost passed over by The Cookout (specifically Tiffany) because she wasn’t Black enough.

They have "competitions" every week to determine who gets to nominate players to be evicted. Most competitions are filler. The draw for most people is watching contestants try to manipulate voting to determine who gets to the end of the game.

The last players to get evicted (excluding the final 2) are sequestered at a separate location until Finale night, when they will return as a "jury" to hear arguments of the 2 finalists and vote to determine the winner!

CBS initially sold the show to America as a social experiment of how "total strangers" (not always strangers though) will nominate and vote to evict. It is certainly no longer an experiment. These things we know to be true:

1. CBS always has a predetermined winner. They will cast the show and set out competitions in a way to achieve this goal.

2. The Winner will not be Black because the White players always team up and vote out the Black players (which have historically been typically only 2, so they were always easy pickings). Last year was an anomaly.

3. The Old person (usually 1) is targeted early for eviction (the cast is mostly people in their 20s with beach bodies).

4. If CBS wants an unqualified winner then they will ensure everyone else in the cast is either stupid or doesn't understand the game.

5. If there are a bunch of Bros (dumb White jock types) in the house, they will team up. If CBS wants a "Bro" to win, they will strategically throw in the physical comps and get rid of better qualified players early to ensure this goal (also see #4 above).

6. They always have at least one token LGBT character in the cast. This person is usually a flamboyant stereotype who is brought in for comic relief. They won't win unless the players are stupid (see #4 above).

7. Everything else follows the typical "Reality TV" show "script" including: fights, crying, fucking, faux friendships, betrayals and all the usual drama.

Big Brother is an international reality franchise that began in the Netherlands in 1999. (The Dutch version was rebooted last year after being off the air for 15 years.)

Most editions of BB outside of the US and Canada follow the so-called international format, in which all housemates nominate someone to be evicted each week. I have been watching BB since the first season. I know it is probably an embarrassing habit and/or addiction. Despite being a long time "fan", I could not have been more disinterested in watching "the live feeds", and every season, even some of those that are less memorable, always became must-see watching for me. I slept through the second episode, on Sunday. I watched with curiosity on last night's third episode. Palmolive became very easy for me to view as a villianess, and I guess now she may just be very unstable and in need of a booster shot for her mental health, or lack thereof. My fear that that I was somehow losing interest in BB has now been squashed. I am very anxious to watch tonight's live show and am fairly sure that I can stick with the show for this season. Since I have a relatively small amount of programming that I look forward to, it bothered me to lose the wretched humanity of BB and my enjoyment of pulling for underdogs who seldom get far in the competition. So, I hope Pollyana gets the help she needs, but do thank her for cranking up the "must see" aspect of my summer of watching BB.

Having said that I’m sure CBS does not want to see a second Black alliance ride or die. That would destroy the game. In BB-land, once is enough for that play.

I can see why the other girls might find Taylor off-putting for introducing herself as a pageant girl and spending more time with the guys. We all meet people in life who we just don't like due to their personality, sometimes it's fair and sometimes it's not. The other girls have a right not to like Taylor. Now just because they don't like her, does that make Taylor a bad person? absolutely not. So far we haven't seen Taylor going around insulting the other girls or acting like she's better than everyone. She just likes male attention and thought it would help her in the game.

At the same time, Paloma is coming off a bit unhinged and obsessed since she's constantly talking about Taylor. Taylor has a right now to subscribe to Paloma's dream of an all-girl alliance. That doesn't mean Taylor was going to target the girls but it doesn't mean she wasn't either. What I think has been a little bit surprising is how Twitter and the internet has exploded in really jumping on someone. Which I never like. I don't think any of us are in any position to judge any other human being. What you have to remember is that yes, microaggressions are real and they happen every day. When you're playing the Big Brother house, it's a pressure cooker in there. And you might say or do things that you think is going to advance your position in the house. But you won't always do it in a way that makes yourself look your best.

What I think Taylor has experienced in the house and what we've seen on the live feeds are separate from each other. A lot of it has been classic Big Brother trash talk behind someone's back because you feel threatened by them. In many ways, Big Brother is like high school on steroids. And if you were to ask Taylor, you know, prior to becoming a replacement nominee, she simply was not aware of how much jealousy there was.

So I would say, let's all take a pause. Let's try not to judge. Please leave the judging to the judge: Father God. And let's exercise some compassion for one another. We don't know what it's like to go through that Big Brother house. Have some mercy and some grace and some forgiveness. And if someone can come out of the house, sees what their actions were in the house, and learn something from it, and is humbled by the whole experience, then hallelujah! That's a beautiful thing. So I think people need to just open up their hearts a little bit more, and show some kindness and some forgiveness. Give someone a chance to change, to see their actions, and learn and grow from it.

All the competitions and stupid twists over the years have really piled on top of themselves. The players who don’t know the game are completely lost and they have to be explained the rules over and over again as the game goes on. (Last season someone couldn’t remember how POV worked- truly!)

This season hasn’t caught fire yet, but I don’t hate it. I’ll be sad if Ameerah goes because she actually has a brain.

I think the biggest thing that has hurt the show is how self conscious the house guests have become. They know saying the wrong thing will put them on blast over social media and cost them their jobs/friends/relationships. I’m happy to call out the racists (Aaryn!), but I miss the unfiltered earlier seasons.

Turner is still fugly but was surprisingly easy to take in tonight’s episode.

R542, Ameerah going will be a big deal and a huge power shake up which I think this show needs. She’s way too smug along with Daniel and Nicole, who are The Leftovers’ (Monte/Turner/Joseph/Kyle/Michael/Brittany/Taylor) next targets.

I don’t get why Nicole/Taylor aren’t put on the block and Nicole is voted out in a huge blindside. All the others on the other side will assume Taylor’s getting evicted. And Nicole and Daniel should be split up as soon as possible

Are the other houseguests even aware of Daniel and Nicole’s alliance?

Brittney reminds me of Julia Sweeney and Joseph kind of has a Victor Arroyo vibe.

The set for the live show has blue, pink, and white in the shades of the trans flag. Wonder if that influenced the start of the trans houseguest rumors.

Kyle was sheltered and it shows as he obviously has no life experiences or anything but a bit of gusto.

Michael is smart and agile. He’s very ugly though.

Daniel all I see is his overbite or flared teeth. Arched pointy eyebrows. He’s got common sense.

I'm distracted by Joseph's precisely manicured eyebrows. But not in a good way.

I didn’t love how Michael was a smug prick about that large hypnotist frau Brittany who seems to genuinely adore him and would stay loyal to him. His smirking diary room about how she’s not in his alliance so he didn’t give a fuck about her was a turn off.

A fat loyal hag could be gold in that house for a homely skinny anemic gay.

The spoiler account said that Grodner is now obsessed with Kyle and is giving him a Dan Gheesling edit for Wednesday. Let’s see if that happens.

Agree. Michael’s treatment of Brittney is cruel. She thinks he’s her ride or die. Sad. Didn’t he learn anything from last season? The Cookout held on to their side pieces as long as they could, and the strategy was a key to their success.

Brittany cried because the girls said she looked like a mom and gave off mom vibes. Then when she was wearing her jean jacket and jean shorts and white cap, Daniel said she looked like a Disney frau and she burst into tears.

I make it a point now to turn it on for a few minutes when I go to bed because I love to catch her cleaning the kitchen and sighing and exhaling heavily as she does it. Sometimes she just stops and puts her hand on her forehead as her eyes bug out.

Almost every time, just as she's finishing, a bunch of people come into the kitchen and start making protein shakes and yogurt-granola bowls. They take out the chip bags she just put away, eat fruit and leftovers, and then walk out leaving the kitchen almost as bad as it was when she started. I love it.

Has anyone brought up her swaying yet? Standing, it's side to side; sitting or leaning against something, front to back.

Up to this point I thought Nicole might go far but she’s now showed her true colors. This is how she reacts to an imagined slight, she is not going to be able to rein in her emotions as the game becomes even more intense.

The CBS edit made it seem like Nicole was crying under the covers because her “integrity” was torturing her as to whether to throw the PoV competition or not. But the reality was apparently she got a talking to in the DR about bashing Taylor and it was tarnishing her image.

Nicole is an asshole and Daniel is an asshole and an idiot. They will regret their behavior. However, I love Joseph's pendulous breasts.

This week has been some pretty damn good Big Brother. Maybe the most interesting week the show has had in year? (Not that it’s a high bar to hurdle!)

It was delicious seeing Ameerah get the boot, but more than that, the editing of Wednesday’s ep was superb. Usually CBS botches it, but here they really exposed how awful Nicole and Daniel were to Taylor. The laid out the bullying sequence clearly and unemotionally. Watching Taylor find a new alliance and a lovely public defender in Turner was made all the sweeter by the editing.
