I used to think Jerry Hall was a frank, salty Texan in the best sense of the word. No sign of prejudice, great sense of humor, model, rock groupies #1. Then she married one the two or three most evil men of the past 100 years- the creator of lying tabloid press all over the world and the entertainment network show (as classified by the FCC) FOX News. Did she do it for money? Or is she really dumb as a rock? Or both.

Of course she did it for money. She's just a typical money grubbing whore.

DM ran the L.A. filing story less than 2 hours after posting a story to the effect that Jerry was in the UK waiting to meet up with Rupert when she received an email notifying her the marriage was over and she was to communicate with him only through his attorneys. Per that story, Jerry thinks the kids turned on her when she acted as a "COVID police" gatekeeper to protect him from contact with anybody during the lockdown interval. Per the story, she thinks they became convinced she was keeping them from their father, and they turned him against her. Well, he was 90. Total isolation is how the Queen and Philip survived. This story does sound just like the Murdoch family. I'm sure Jerry was warned, but didn't believe it could happen to her. Watch Daddybucks get COVID now.

Guessing the L.A. filing is more strategic than substantive, since they married and lived a chunk of the time in the UK. I believe both California and the UK are currently leaning on the side of enforcing prenups, so not sure that is the reason. It's an opening salvo of some sort, not sure what her counsel is thinking. Definitely in part a preliminary move to secure spousal support pending divorce litigation. . . . Ah, perhaps that is the shot across the how notice that she won't be going quietly.

She’s no fool. It’s routine for wealthy men to conceal some of their assets from their current wife. One if the reasons to settle up is to avoid making a complete written financial disclosure that might eventually find its way into the hands of tax collectors.

Also, one of the ways to destroy a prenup is to show that one of the spouse's lied about the full extent of his or her assets at the time the prenup was signed. So if she can show a discrepancy between what he disclosed to her before the marriage and what his actual worth at time was, well, she's really off to the races.

Both sides share the information of their financial holdings, it’s part of the prenup document. Then it’s signed and notarized that what has been submitted is true and correct, and both parties accept the terms of the prenup.

R50 Not as simple as it seems. Under the UPAA as adopted in California the parties can voluntarily waive the requirement of financial disclosure in writing. Further, if there hasn't been full disclosure (and no waiver was given), the pre-nup can still be valid unless it's shown to be "unconscionable."

I think for the kids it's more about who gets to control it all less than the wealth itself. No doubt there are trusts in place with everyone or their descendants having a slice. But who's the trustee? That where the power lies.

And that is my bet for the genesis of this situation.

OP, I'm sure he doesn't know what the full extent of his assets are. With his billions, he may be invested in all kinds of things. His son Lachlan has been in charge for awhile. It's not like Rupert keeps track of every million.

R1, I think she's insecure about money. You knew Jackie Onassis and she had the same insecurity. I also think she likes being married. I suspect she was a good wife to him, but many older men think protectively about their families. A smart spouse keeps that in mind. If she left the Deng children off a large gathering list, that was a stupid move. Those young women are only in college now so they may have been high school age when this happened. He likely spent a fair amount of time with them growing up, which was not so long ago. He may have a fairly close relationship to them as Mick does with their children. I have not followed this closely, but it may be there was a significant change coming up under a condition in the prenup, which would trigger significant assets coming to her. IN these situations, men have been known to divorce to avoid that happening.

Jerry Hall of all people has been legendary for being welcoming and inclusive with step-kids. It isn't credible she excluded those Deng kids to be evil. She would have been well aware it wouldn't sit well with their father for her to leave them out of a true family party--If she left those two out of some event, there would have been a reason for it.

Jerry was always welcoming of Mick's exes, Bianca and Marsha Hunt. She became very friendly with Marsha, and even became friends with Marianne Faithful at some point. She wouldn't be fazed by Wendi Deng being at family events.

r81 I know Jerry and Marsha became very friendly in the years after Karis Jagger joined the fold, so to speak. Marsha was very grateful to Jerry for being kind to Karis and taking a strong hand in getting Mick to re-connect with her in her early teens (he had very little to do with her up until that point).

Marsha was at the Hall-Murdoch nuptials in 2016 - so was Bianca, in fact. A testament to how family-oriented Jerry is, and why I find it hard to believe anyone would think she'd deliberately keep Murdoch from his kids and grandkids.

Jerry did some kind of stage play that Marianne was connected to - I'm thinking it was one of those stagey productions of The Wall, that Pink Floyd did over the years? My memory is fuzzy. Anyway, both women acknowledged being friendly and supportive to the other. Mick has always stayed connected to Faithful, there are rumors - cheap rep he has, aside - that he has paid for much of her recent medical care the past few years.
