Cameron Diaz Comes Out of Retirement For Netflix Movie With Good Friend Jamie Foxx

Awwww. I’m not necessarily a fan but I don’t dislike her at all. Hope the movie is good and it’s not another situation like Goldie Hawn who came out of retirement to do that Amy Schumer flop and then went back into retirement

She did a lot of trash but she has tons of charm and I ended up missing her

I missed her. She's funny, sweet and not pretentious or annoying. She did her thang and went home. Never seemed too much of an attention whore and aware she got lucky for her looks. Unlike other pretty but thin actresses who think they are God's gift to acting. She gets respect for Being John Malkovich and The Mask.

Like others I was never a huge fan of her, but I find that I have missed her.

So, it’s all dependent on level of friendship? That seems weird?

by Anonymousreply 4June 29, 2022 7:30 PM

Came out of retirement = someone finally offered her a role.

by Anonymousreply 5June 29, 2022 7:37 PM

She got VERY annoying before she went away.

She left on a pretty high note. The Other Woman, the Annie remake and Sex Tape may have been dumb but they were all successful at the box office. Instead of letting her career die slowly and take shitty roles as she went further into her 40s. She retired and enjoyed her money with no drama. She was losing her looks from age and sun damage (most pale blondes don't age well), even if it was for that reason and not "I needed a break to find myself." It was still pragmatic. Netflix is a safe avenue for her to do a comeback. Overall, she doesn't seem like a dumb blonde despite her image, she's very practical.

R7 Oh fuck YOU "losing her looks", Cameron fucking Diaz, neither pale or sunblown either. I'd love to see what you look like, bitch.

by Anonymousreply 8June 30, 2022 2:16 AM

I don't know her.

by Anonymousreply 9June 30, 2022 2:17 AM

R8 Wow. So emotional. Take a deep breathe and think happy thoughts.

Now, she was getting older and losing her looks because we all get older. I'm not saying she's a terrible person or killed babies. She was absolutely stunning when younger but she as she reached her 40s, the damage of too much sun was affecting her. She was far from stunning anymore like in The Mask. She's still an attractive middle-aged woman but for an actress who only got big on her looks alone, she was going to lose out on roles and her marketability was plummeting too. I think it's stupid and shows a double standard as thin actors like Matt Damon, Tom Cruise and Will Smith can still get roles despite aging and losing their looks. But I'm just saying that in Hollywood, as an aging woman who is no longer a "spring chicken", the roles will dry up.

Do you feel better now?

Have you seen Lost In Translation?

by Anonymousreply 11June 30, 2022 9:53 AM

More, more, again, again!

I think she's a charming, lovely person, and seems like she'd be a super fun hang, but as the years went on her acting got worse and worse to the point of unwatchability for me. She was perfectly serviceable in My Best Friend's Wedding, Being John Malkovich, There's Something About Mary, and Vanilla Sky, but in films later in her career like The Holiday and The Other Woman her acting was downright painful to watch.

She never ever seems to have any romantic or sexual chemistry with her leading men, no matter how sexy they are, and she cannot believably play smart, strong, powerful women. She's always done best playing mentally fragile, vulnerable, or charmingly ditzy--kind of like Goldie Hawn. She just has VERY little range.

R11 Yes, but I don't remember her in it. That says something about me, I guess.

by Anonymousreply 14July 16, 2025 7:36 AM

Something About Mary and Very Bad Things were her best.
