Because they don’t need to work to get $$$. They coast by on their looks in their 20s and 30s and then realize they have nothing to fall back on in their 40s. The fuglies know they need to work to get ahead on their own steam.

Actually OP, the men in the photo are neurosurgeons, the photo was taken at the American Academy of Neurosurgery conference in Naples, Florida earlier this year.
Dr. David Goldstein, the guy in the center, has been doing some really breakthrough work on neuroplasticity.

OP, I know for a fact that the men in that picture are, from left to right, an archeologist, a nuclear engineer, and an Orthodox monk.

I remember seeing some documentary years ago with a gay NY finance guy talking about the extreme homophobia in the industry and how he’d been openly harassed and physically bullied by his coworkers. I can’t remember now what the documentary was

My partner and I both spent our careers in NYC finance jobs. There are tons of gay men in the industry though it is not an easy fit. The industry rewards traditionally masculine qualities like assertiveness, sales skills and smooth talk about golf, football and very straight, suburban family stuff
The industry is also also global in scope and there are just not nearly as many openly gay people in Europe and particularly in Asia. As a result, it’s harder to build easy, natural connections with people who have similar personal lives.
In US banks and investment houses, you’ll find more gay men in Marketing, HR, PR, Legal, and Compliance roles as opposed to bankers and other front office sales jobs or technology.

For the same reason there aren’t a lot of women - because it’s a miserable, demanding, unpleasant job that requires complete devotion and submission of all other things in life to the job. Gay men and women tend not to have their deep seeded insecurity /neurosis fulfilled by Wall St.
I did it for 20+ years and I don’t recommend anyone do it unless they really, really want to make money, it’s the only way to stay motivated to dedicate your life to the job.

I was an investment banker at Merrill Lynch in NYC, and can tell you there are many, MANY gay men and women in finance. The majority are in operations or back office jobs. I was totally out as a gay man, and can honestly say I never felt and sort of discrimination or animosity because of my sexuality. I was good at what I did, was a team player, worked stupid long hours, and made Mother Merrill, and myself, a lot of money. I retired when I was 40, and would do it again in a heartbeat. Not sure what it’s like in a Flyovastan city.

There is a TON of sexy Finance men & women in NYC. Where are you looking at? There are lots of older men& women in Finance too(some have lost their fortune several times over). Lots of gay men and women work in the background (attorneys, analysts, accountants, good staff workers) My 1st boss only allowed me Female interns& staff, because he knew I was GAY (married to a very wealthy woman). He knew I wouldn't be tempted to Fuck them. Men...another story. In NYC now for work, really hot guys-women but Msking MONEY makes me hard.

In 90s NYC, finance was the main money game. Now you can make good money in tech - so gay and straight young guys head there. Wall Street is still old school hierarchy. You are on call and effectively enslaved by your job - which it seems married straight guys with kids don’t mind because it fulfills their ego and their home lives are miserable. But even they are less abundant than they used to be. There is a certain machismo that is connected with the self-sacrifice and endurance required - which is why women especially with kids don’t stick to it. Gay men who want a fun, fulfilling life - and don’t have kids and a wife to support - opt out relatively early too.

To R15. There still is "lots of Homophobia" in NYC stock market-financial district. BITD (back in the day) 1985-86, it was "destroy or be destroyed-Dog eat dog". I had a Jewish wunder-kid attack me a baseball bat when I was getting more paper at 9pm. I took the shot to my head, turned around and grabbed him by the throat, ready to rip out his throat with my teeth. It took 4 guys to get him away from me biting him. They called me Vampyre(this spelling) or Drac. The sexy Latin Maintenace man called me all the time for yrs after that incident. . Other incidents with bullies involved 2 guys I had fights with getting jumped-badly beaten with baseball bats. Word got around that "bad stuff" happened to guys who fucked with me.The bullying stopped with me. I have so many more stories to tell you all on DL.

^ to above, it was a WASP old boys' network& Jewish old boy's network in the stock market in the 1980's. I had 2 things going for me. !st, I was nerdy math genius who did the numbers in my head(never wrong) and 2nd, my wife was related to 3 of the richest American families in the Western Hemisphere (1 midwest-2 Canadian). It's alot different now in finance, but you need to work hard, make money for ur company (and urself). It's a 24/7/365 money game. Lots of gay sex with stressed out hott men(they don't talk about it-camera everywhere though nowadays, all on the internet). I could go for hours about the stock market& how they treat people, make money, finding friends(?).

That Litzleman guy is mercenary! Because how does a kid from IU end up on the Street? I see he first made his way to DC for a real estate internship. Not a banker, but from previous experience in the Finance (banking) sector as a software engineer - they are very traditional, very old-old school, very homogenous, soul-draining and cling to old technology for dear life! The same can be said for the Insurance companies.

R89 so weird and creepy how people take these "sleeping" pictures. I remember when if someone took a picture of you sleeping it was disturbing but now it's meant to be sexy.
How many different places did he set up the camera and test it out? How many poses did he do? How many pictures did he take before finding the "one." So much effort to look effortless.

Indiana University has actually become a big feeder school for Wall Street slaves. Good training programs that let them start their 80 hour week Excel work right away. Maybe not the most well rounded - but for the first few years, all that’s required is endurance, diligence, not complaining and devoting your life to work.

anticapitalism and pseudo communism came into vogue once again as we've moved from homophiles to gay liberation... while the political lesbians were abandoned, their brand of pseudointellectualism lived on in the people that only wanted to tune out, drop out and fuck, fuck, fuck.
these days to admit you're a capitalist is to admit you're not gay
because being gay is only political.
now go get your toaster and avocado toast.

I was openly gay in finance in NYC in the 80s. I was also tall and classically handsome. I had fancy degrees and impeccable connections and I was a very hard worker, but did not have the natural shark/predator character for success in the money making tracks. The testosteroned sharks are extremely intelligent and fast thinkers. I could have stayed but kept being pushed into the softer activities - shoved into private banking or research for example. I don't think many gays have all the elements necessary for success in the investment side of finance, but they can certainly start in finance if they choose. You just have to check the right boxes.
