I Hate Cats

There, I said it. I know that there have been who knows many cat hate threads in the past, but, I had to get up early today and I’m in a cat hating mood and therefore decided to revive the issue.

Cats are selfish, self-centered hissing pussies who only give a shit about themselves. They’ll cut you without provocation. They’ll shit on your clothes or in your potted plants. Why? Well, just because they can. They lack empathy and sociopathy is in their DNA. Cats are cunts.

I’ll take a Canis lupus familiaris any day. They’re truly loyal and loving and they at least have the brains to realize it isn’t always about them. And they haven’t gone about wiping out who knows how many species around the planet, despite their owners continuously feeding those snarling, hairball puking twats like they were cows. I hate cats.

I sense someone ^ was recently rejected by a cat!

by Anonymousreply 1June 27, 2022 11:00 AM

The only good cat is… Finish the sentence.

by Anonymousreply 2June 27, 2022 11:01 AM

This is the stupidest thing I have ever heard. As if cats can control their personalities. they are hunters and haven't been domesticated for very long. Dogs were domesticated long before cats. Cats are just wild animals and they have the same personalities as big cats (tigers lions). If they were big they would be like any other wild animal and very dangerous. I prefer dogs but judging cats as if they were human is really stupid.

by Anonymousreply 3June 27, 2022 11:04 AM

I hope you get eaten by a mountain lion.

by Anonymousreply 4June 27, 2022 11:05 AM

OP, I'm alone. I work fulltime 9-5, 5 days a week. I literally cannot own a dog. It's not healthy for a dog to be alone 8 hours a day. I own a cat because I cannot own a dog. I much prefer dogs, but there is some company in cats too.

by Anonymousreply 5June 27, 2022 11:06 AM

R4 lacks a sense of humor and doesn’t understand sarcasm. Cats are irascible bitches.

by Anonymousreply 6June 27, 2022 11:07 AM

R6 was meant for R3.

by Anonymousreply 7June 27, 2022 11:08 AM

Today, in bitter lesbian news...

by Anonymousreply 8June 27, 2022 11:08 AM

My cat is very dog-like. Very loving and gentle. He sleeps with me and snuggles me all day. When our other cat was very sick, he comforted him and wouldn’t leave his side.

I think op just hasn’t met the right pussy.

by Anonymousreply 9June 27, 2022 11:11 AM

R9, most cats are loving and gentle, that's not "dog like." Dogs are demanding and needy.

by Anonymousreply 10June 27, 2022 11:17 AM

R9, I grew up with both cats and dogs, and other animals as well. My family had pets from when I was a child and until my parents passed away. Cats can be very affectionate, but overall, in my lifetime of experience with them, their “cuddling” seems to be for the sake of themselves more than anything else. Dogs are the complete opposite.

I even had a cat as a pet for a brief while many years ago, and even trained it to fetch, but I had to move, and the new place would not accept pets. I gave the feline much affection, and it still hissed and snarled at me. Go figure.

by Anonymousreply 11June 27, 2022 11:20 AM

Had both cats and dogs.

Worked for a vet, also.

Dogs>>>>Cats, in my experience.

by Anonymousreply 12June 27, 2022 11:22 AM

I can't tell if you are serious because some people hate cats. I grew up with a siamese and she was like a dog and had a great personality. She saw us going to the bathroom and decided she wanted to be like us somehow managed to get into a trash can and was sitting in the trash peeing. Somehow the trash can didn't fall over. she used to like to retrieve and I would ball up a little post-it note and throw it and she would retrieve it. Once she found a cigarette (one of my mother's half-smoked cigs) and was walking around with a cig butt hanging out of her mouth as if she was smoking. When the doorbell would ring she would get up on the cabinet where my dad had a stereo and other ornamental things and sit very still. Like a statue and if the person was someone new she would wait until the person got close then lunge at them and scare the shit out of them. She did that every time. She did it on purpose. She has been dead for more years than I can count and I still miss her. The only cat I ever really liked.

by Anonymousreply 13June 27, 2022 11:26 AM

Very weird, R11. My family found and took in many cats, and NONE of them hissed and snarled. Perhaps the snarlers were part feral? You cannot domesticate a feral cat that hasn't been socialized when it was young.

by Anonymousreply 14June 27, 2022 11:28 AM

Where is the ever present "they smell" myth in this thread? Yes, cats' litter box smell if you don't clean it, their bodies don't smell.

by Anonymousreply 15June 27, 2022 11:30 AM

I’m half serious R13. I don’t actually hate cats. But I do overwhelmingly prefer dogs. They interact with humans on a level of intimacy that is incomparable to cats.

R14, I took in a cat that was literally starving to death that I found roaming a neighbor’s yard. I was about 11 or twelve when it happened. It was not a feral cat at all, but an abandoned one. I was actually very fond of that cat because it was the most docile, affectionate and passive feline I’ve ever encountered in my life. However, 90% percent of cats, both family and friends’ cats, that I’ve ever encountered tend to be hissy and hostile and would attack, hiss, bite and scratch you without warning.

by Anonymousreply 16June 27, 2022 11:38 AM

I think there was something wrong with your family, R16, if the majority were so hostile.

by Anonymousreply 17June 27, 2022 11:40 AM

I took in an abandoned cat once and she was snarly and would attack people. She was awful. very aggressive.

by Anonymousreply 18June 27, 2022 11:41 AM

^ That's because she had been abused by other people.

by Anonymousreply 19June 27, 2022 11:42 AM

Yeah, I think so. My ex and I owned an apt building with college students and I suspected the poor cat was abused.

by Anonymousreply 20June 27, 2022 11:43 AM

R17, If you read my post correctly, I mentioned other peoples’ cats being that way as well. Also, my brothers and sisters loved cats and dogs and never intentionally abused them.

by Anonymousreply 21June 27, 2022 11:45 AM

My cat greets everyone that comes in my home with a “kiss”. He is very sweet. He loves human company without being needy. I think people that have cats sometimes don’t research enough about them. I realized my cat is easily stimulated when you pet him so I pet him and look for cues on when to stop. When I have people over I let them know when he needs to be left alone. It’s all about understanding the individual cat and the overall nature of their species.

by Anonymousreply 22June 27, 2022 12:08 PM

People who have pissy cats are pissy themselves. They try to get away with shit not realizing cats have to accommodate to new things in their own time, or have kids that treat Kitty like a rag doll, or have been fucked with regularly.

Unless a cat is in pain or elderly, a cat hissing at you is on you.

by Anonymousreply 23June 27, 2022 12:32 PM

Our siamese loved people. Constantly trying to rub her face against your face. As a teen, I constantly to watch her rubbing my face because it gave me pimples.

by Anonymousreply 24June 27, 2022 12:35 PM

[quote]and they at least have the brains to realize it isn’t always about them

I like dogs, but you're way off on this assessment. Dogs are sweet and frequently dumb, and they don't understand anything beyond their tiny circle of experience.

by Anonymousreply 25June 27, 2022 12:38 PM

I don't understand dogs, I grew up with cats and understand them better. Doggy odor is how dogs mark territory. I am allergic to their heavy, metallic dog scent. Cats are odorless and clean unless they are ill. Cats won't use a dirty or smelly litterbox.

by Anonymousreply 26June 27, 2022 12:40 PM

R25, of course I’m off on that assessment. It’s a dog. But as a pet lover, I enjoy attributing human personalities to them.

by Anonymousreply 27June 27, 2022 12:48 PM

Dogs can be smart enough to have the capacity of a two-year-old. I also think dogs can read people. They know when you are in trouble or in a bad mental place. And they are sympathetic when you are down. Cats are basically indifferent. I know some cats are the exception but most cats are opportunists and are only there for the food.

by Anonymousreply 28June 27, 2022 2:39 PM

Cats can read you abd they know that when they are freaked out and upset, they want a quiet corner to lick their wounds and not someone fussing over them. Then when they are ready, they can come back to socialdom. Some people are also this way and mostly they assume you are this way and want to be let alone to scratch it out.

by Anonymousreply 29June 27, 2022 2:43 PM

I don't hate cats. Don't much like them, either. But I really, [italic]really[/italic] hate "cat people."

by Anonymousreply 30June 27, 2022 2:44 PM

My sister is a cat lover and has had many over the years, she had one Siamese as a kitten, that cat was mean as fire, the other cat was just fine and she was a stray or feral kitten. So yes some cats can be snippy and not friendly. Cats are not dogs, and haven't been domesticated for long, like dogs have for 40k years or whatever.

by Anonymousreply 31June 27, 2022 3:15 PM

R28 = not a cat owner

by Anonymousreply 32June 27, 2022 3:22 PM

Are you kidding, R32? I have only had 1 dog in my life but until recently because of asthma, I have always had cats. I talk about not liking cats but I actually love both. I have worked most of my life and never thought it was fair to leave a dog alone for 8 hours a day so I had cats. My mother loved cats so there was never really a time when I didn't have cats in my life until recently. Cats are indifferent to people for the most part and are not really domesticated. But I love their independence and they are beautiful and yes opportunists. People who study cats would agree.

by Anonymousreply 33June 27, 2022 3:31 PM

Dogs are opportunists but people don't mind that because they know how to milk a cute face, do tricks on put on a show for what they get.

by Anonymousreply 34June 27, 2022 3:58 PM

OP- I take it you never went to see the play CATS.

by Anonymousreply 35June 27, 2022 4:02 PM

I saw the funniest video. It was a video of how different dogs and cats react to their owners. It was a video of military men coming home after a long tour. The dogs went absolutely crazy when their master came home to the point where they were so excited they peed on the floor and were generally hysterical. The cats were basically indifferent. The man said to the cat "I'm home and the cat looked at him like WTF are you telling me for"

by Anonymousreply 36June 27, 2022 4:04 PM

Depends on the cat

I like Bengal cats and want to get one.

by Anonymousreply 38June 27, 2022 4:11 PM

R33 = thinks this thread is about him

by Anonymousreply 39June 30, 2022 7:32 PM

Dogs and cats are both a giant pain in the ass unless you crave attention.

Can't stand kids or animals.
