When Carter was running for president the first time he admitted in an interview that he had "cheated in my heart" which means having lustful thoughts. It was a big thing in the national media because although sorta a commonly used expression among evangelicals it was not that well known. It helped establish Carter as a real evangelical. In time he went on to become a slightly more progressive version of that. That was a direction evangelicalism could have gone but it took another path.

This is far afield, but it's going to be a very sad day in America when Jimmy Carter finally dies. He was one of the good ones, and that's very rare.

Emmanuel Macron is the most interesting because everyone knows his relationship with Alexandre Benalla was sexual. But because France is a macho country where homophobia remains deeply embedded in society, the media worked with him to suppress the sexual aspects of L'Affaire Benalla. Even now he may still be stepping out on his wife with other dudes.

There are just too many candid moments of the Obamas photographed, many where they clearly weren't even aware of the cameras. The most famous is the one at their inauguration (second in this compilation) where they were having an intimate moment and you can clearly see the uncomfortable staff awkwardly try to avert their eyes, like "get a room you two". We haven't seen it before or since with any world leaders. There are also photos where Michelle is clearly angry at Barack so it was also pretty obvious when they were fighting.

Another thing is, it is known that Barack has no personal friends and all his closest friends, like Valerie Jarrett, are actually Michelle's friends because she's the social one and he's actually more introverted.

I wish I could remember - or find - the quote from Theodore White, who covered presidential politics from 1948 to 1980. I remember him saying that - over this period - there were just four presidential candidates he would swear never cheated on their wives. I believe Truman, Carter & George Romney were on the list. I can't recall right now who was the fourth. But it definitely was not Reagan or Nixon.
