Thoughtlessness
I’m continually surprised, even at age 57, of how thoughtless people can be. I’m talking about coworkers, for example. These are professionals who are highly educated and well paid.
Once again, they’ve excluded another coworker who should have been part of an important (graduation) ceremony at work. Stuff like this has happened before and has happened with me as well. They are not bad people by any means, but I can’t understand how inconsiderate they can be. Has anyone else experienced this?

My friend was a new hire on the management team of a company. A month later they forgot to invite her to a corporate weekend retreat.
My husband works for a small company. Last year they didn’t invite him/us to the CEO’s house for a 4th of July party because they didn’t think he would go because he “lives so far away.”
In both cases it was the HR nitwits who dropped the ball. No ulterior motive. Just, as you say, thoughtlessness.

Op, you think being highly educated and well paid somehow translates into thoughtfulness? Some of best educated and well paid people are horrible human beings. I think once you realize this you wont be expecting much from your shitty coworkers.
