34 years ago this week DL and Gay Icon Paula Abdul released her iconic album "Forever Your Girl."

10 year old me thought Paula Abdul was the prettiest and coolest person who had ever existed and I wanted to be her so badly. Straight Up was my jam. I BEGGED for the Reeboks she shilled and then wore them to shreds.

Rush Rush is still a super sexy/romantic song, imo.

She always make me smile!

As a gayling, I was so jealous of the kids in that video.

I liked her songs. She was too short and stubby to take seriously as a dancer.

I saw her in concert back in the day, and she put on a great show. Even some live singing when she wasn't dancing.

She’s a terrible singer.

I love that her "Cold Hearted" video featured a gay couple writhing on the floor long before anyone else would show such a thing.

Paula isn't a terrible singer. She's an entertainer, nothing wrong with that.

I love old school Paula. I love this song too.

Paula is a horrible singer, she has moments where she’s clearly off key on the studio tracks, it’s pretty rough.

But I love her.

Oh god, R9, yes, those are them. They were MUCH clunkier irl, I remember it felt like wearing snowboots, but that pristine white and the bright coral were perfection. That pair of shoes remains one of the iconic pieces of my life. MARY! I know, but my parents didn't have a lot of money, my mother in particular thought caring about clothes was for shallow losers, and I almost never had the "cool" items.

Sadly they did not transform me into Paula Abdul. But I still loved them.

Today they would probably call her a "groomer" for that video 🙄

Her whiny voice is even apparent as a teenager in this film she tried to have buried.
