Brad Pitt covers the July/August issue of GQ Magazine

Omg. He looks amazing!!

This is ART, darling.

Why did he never do these weird and cool photo shoots while young? I guess he has nothing to prove now.

I had no idea he had tattoos on his legs. Overall, these are not good pics. He’s too old to pull off this avant- garde photoshoots. Leave it to Harry Styles.

by Anonymousreply 22June 22, 2022 10:59 PM

Didn’t they used to call him Jan Michael Vincent?

by Anonymousreply 23June 22, 2022 11:02 PM

R22 agreed. He’s too old for this. If this was him 20 years ago, yes!

by Anonymousreply 24June 22, 2022 11:03 PM

by Anonymousreply 25June 22, 2022 11:13 PM

R23 you beat me to it! Hideous.

by Anonymousreply 27June 22, 2022 11:35 PM

by Anonymousreply 28June 22, 2022 11:37 PM

by Anonymousreply 29June 22, 2022 11:39 PM

Serious question: did Elon use BP’s plastic surgeon?

by Anonymousreply 35June 23, 2022 12:42 AM

I think they're wonderful!

Not fair that older men can't be avant-garde. Older women do it all the time.

I love that they embrace a more expansive rendition of masculinity.

I find them reminiscent of Udo Kier style decadence. Shades of Bowie. A dash of Madge.

The only one I'm on the fence about is the yellow jumpsuit, because the pose seems out of character. But then again, he is an actor.

I predict a Matt McConaughey style Renaissance for him with edgier swishy roles, now that he's single and the kids are grown. The rumors of bisexuality are the perfect seasoning and are directly in line with the current trend of embracing fluidity, no matter what they say about who should play a gay role.

by Anonymousreply 36June 23, 2022 1:03 AM

He could play Matt Bomer's dad.

by Anonymousreply 37June 23, 2022 1:04 AM

The photograph in the OP is beyond terrible.

by Anonymousreply 38June 23, 2022 1:05 AM

R38 =RDJ being jealous.

What do you want? Another boring shot in a suit or polo shirt in front of a white no-seam?

I mean, come on.

I haven't been this excited since those Interview covers of male actors embracing.

Wtf. He looks awful. And he is definitely looking his age despite some ancient queens and fraus still stuck in the 90s saying otherwise. He had a good run of maintaining hotness into middle age but nobody can escape aging. He just chose to go gracefully unlike Mickey Rourke.

by Anonymousreply 56June 23, 2022 3:37 AM

What did he cover the magazine with, OP? Brown paper tied up with string?

by Anonymousreply 57June 23, 2022 3:40 AM

I think Johnny Depp, Will Smith and Keanu Reeves all looked younger than their age for a while. But Brad always more or less looked his age to me though his voice and attitude was very youthful. He looked 35 in Fight Club, looked 40 in Troy and looked 54 in One Upon A Time in Hollywood. He is just an example of a middle aged person with good genes who took care of his body and health. Plus money helps with less stress. I don't think he smokes cigarettes either just pot and he seems like he rips bongs and takes edibles instead of joints and blunts

by Anonymousreply 58June 23, 2022 4:02 AM

Crepe Away.

by Anonymousreply 62June 23, 2022 4:35 AM

Of course I don’t know the man, but I’m surprised by the quote. Brad always looked like he was a happy as hell. Always seemed super close to his family too.

“I think joy’s been a newer discovery, later in life. I was always moving with the currents, drifting in a way, and onto the next. I think I spent years with a low-grade depression, and it’s not until coming to terms with that, trying to embrace all sides of self — the beauty and the ugly — that I’ve been able to catch those moments of joy.” He added, “I always felt very alone in my life. Alone growing up as a kid, alone even out here, and it’s really not till recently that I have had a greater embrace of my friends and family.” He mentioned that making and consuming art makes ‘him feel less alone’ in the world.

by Anonymousreply 63June 23, 2022 4:39 AM

Geez, he's had surgery

by Anonymousreply 64June 23, 2022 4:43 AM

In an industry of nasty, nasty narcissistic assholes. Brad always seemed sweet and surprisingly down-to-earth. Unlike his exes Angelina, Gwyenth and Jennifer who are all fake as hell. He doesn't seem to have good judgment in picking women in general.

by Anonymousreply 65June 23, 2022 4:44 AM

David Bowie did it best.

by Anonymousreply 66June 23, 2022 4:45 AM

Were these photos taken at his wake?

by Anonymousreply 67June 23, 2022 9:56 AM

by Anonymousreply 69June 23, 2022 10:23 AM

i like r7, e8, and r11

by Anonymousreply 70June 23, 2022 10:23 AM

R69, but he probably had to have them done.

He has those eyes where you cannot see the eyelid, and eventually, those skin above the eyes droops so much, that older people have to have the extra skin cut off, because it starts to obscure their ability to see.

Those pics at R53 had me cracking up. Still LMAO. The bad wig with the colorful fingernails and the glass of beer is my fave.

That’s gonna be my Halloween outfit!

by Anonymousreply 71June 23, 2022 4:16 PM

OP, that cover’s a very naughty reference to American Beauty. Love it.

by Anonymousreply 72June 23, 2022 4:20 PM

Pitt says he has face blindness disorder (prosopagnosia) which actually sounds pretty awful.

"A person with prosopagnosia may avoid social interaction and develop social anxiety disorder, an overwhelming fear of social situations.

They may also have difficulty forming relationships or experience problems with their career. Feelings of depression are common.

Some people with prosopagnosia cannot recognise certain facial expressions, judge a person's age or gender, or follow a person's gaze.

Others may not even recognise their own face in the mirror or in photos." (not these photos anyway lol)

by Anonymousreply 73June 23, 2022 4:38 PM

So what?

by Anonymousreply 74June 23, 2022 4:42 PM

Yikes! Was this photo shoot done during his embalming?

by Anonymousreply 75June 23, 2022 4:42 PM

That GQ cover photo is not doing him any favors at all.

by Anonymousreply 76June 23, 2022 4:43 PM

He's supposed to look like a corpse on the cover photo. It never would have occurred to me that so many people would think that he just [italic] accidentally [/italic] looked like a drowned Ophelia or like a washed-up, bloated corpse.

Do you also think it was an accident that his face is cut in half or blocked out in many of the photos? That he just accidentally wore that leather skirt? The eyeliner just accidentally flew onto his face?

by Anonymousreply 77June 23, 2022 4:44 PM

Looks like something scared the David Hasselhoff right into him!

by Anonymousreply 78June 23, 2022 4:48 PM

He jyst looks ooollllddddddd.

And there is so much desperation visible in those cosmetic procedures meant to keep The Face from collapsing onto itself. Aging beauties are tragic.

by Anonymousreply 79June 23, 2022 4:55 PM

R77, most people who aren’t into art have zero clue what you’re referring to.

Of course it’s an homage to Ophelia. There are other references/homages throughout the rest of the photo shoot featured in GQ as well.

Don’t expect the general public to get it.

Most people out there have either never set foot in a museum, aren’t into art, design, film, music, theater, etc., as opposed to those who have lived in big metropolitan cities, are into the all the arts, and have traveled extensively.

by Anonymousreply 80June 23, 2022 5:15 PM

He looks like Sigfreid, or Roy, the one that the tiger ate.

by Anonymousreply 84June 23, 2022 6:23 PM

Brad's ok, but he's nearly 60 and not that interesting. They've glammed him up to make him seem vaguely edgy.

The photos are awful and kind of stupid. And wtf has he done to his face??

by Anonymousreply 85June 23, 2022 6:40 PM

She never poses shirtless or otherwise.

After exposing her mircro-meat years ago it is understandable.

by Anonymousreply 86June 23, 2022 6:46 PM

by Anonymousreply 87June 23, 2022 6:57 PM

He looks waxen like an embalmed corpse. In some of those photos he is unrecognizable. Too much plastic surgery, no doubt.

by Anonymousreply 88June 23, 2022 7:00 PM

by Anonymousreply 89June 23, 2022 7:02 PM

I thought that was a picture of David Cassidy circa 1995 posing for a picture for the poster of a dinner theater production of "Joseph & the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat".

by Anonymousreply 90June 23, 2022 7:09 PM

As an homage to Ophelia the question is.... why? Is Brad Pitt also Hamlet, because that might make more sense, barely. Alas poor York?

Only one image clearly elicits the comparison, the rest look like someone messed around with a photo app. Whacky just because technology says I can.

True, Ophelia was deranged during most of the play--is that it? Again...why?

by Anonymousreply 91June 23, 2022 7:13 PM

R89 made me laugh.

by Anonymousreply 92June 23, 2022 7:13 PM

Look at his face, the result of drugs and booze.

by Anonymousreply 93June 23, 2022 7:16 PM

He's still such a great looking man but you'd never know it from these hideous shots. Simplicity is beauty and these are overly EVERYTHING. Jesus, stop with the water, the flowers, the ill-fitting plastic clothes, and the Emcee make up.

Born 1987 in Moscow, Elizaveta Porodina moved to Munich in 2000, where she later studied clinical psychology. At the same time, she worked in different fields of visual media such as illustration, drawing or digital painting, until she turned to photography at the age of 22.

To the person going off about Ophelia, you do realize we all got that very pedestrian allusion when we saw the photo, right?

We are saying it is lame, cliched, done to death, and pointless.

by Anonymousreply 113June 24, 2022 3:26 AM

Remember on the beginning of the pandemic and everyone in Hollywood was trying to cheer us up? And Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston did a reading of Fast Times at Ridgemont High—Jennifer played Phoebe Cates’ role and Brad played “Brad”? I loved them for that.

by Anonymousreply 114June 24, 2022 3:30 AM

The problem is that he looks like an old man that took a nap and had a stroke when he laid down. Not a young maiden whose youthful looks were preserved in death....he just looks worn out.

by Anonymousreply 115June 24, 2022 3:43 AM

The posters who are bitching about these pics sound like they're altogether unfamiliar with Brad Pitt's photoshoot oeuvre. He's been doing this edgy stuff (glam, dresses, etc) for years. It's nothing new.

But I like these, and I've always appreciated his daring.

Someone on another thread made a good point about Brad. He's better as supporting than leading. And he's stronger as a foil to a protagonist than a protagonist himself. I feel he realized this and that's why he's chosen more artistic films. Hollywood misused him because they assumed because he was pretty that would guarantee he'd be good in every lead. His best roles were ones where he's a foil like in Twelve Monkeys, River Runs Through It, Fight Club, Kalifornia, etc. He's not interesting enough to be a protagonist with depth. Better as a personification of an ideal or a walking plot device.

by Anonymousreply 133June 24, 2022 1:31 PM

He makes a wonderful floating corpse.

by Anonymousreply 134June 24, 2022 2:07 PM

[quote]The problem is that he looks like an old man that took a nap and had a stroke when he laid down. Not a young maiden whose youthful looks were preserved in death....he just looks worn out.

That's the whole point of them. He's an elderly, used-up old lounge lizard, posed as the beautiful young tormented Ophelia.

That's why the bitchy comments about the Ophelia pose having been done to death is so stupid. How many times have we seen an older celebrity put himself in clothes, contexts and poses that are meant to make him look even older and worn out than he already is? And how many times has the image of Ophelia been conjured up for that purpose? Very few, if any, and not enough times for someone to claim that it's been "done to death since 2005" and "we're sick of seeing it."

by Anonymousreply 135June 24, 2022 2:13 PM

by Anonymousreply 137June 24, 2022 6:36 PM

R137 because he's a decrepit old man who wants to think he still looks cool and "edgy" like Pitt. Except Pitt doesn't look cool and edgy anymore, just old and tired, so that means he looks even worse than Pitt.

by Anonymousreply 138June 24, 2022 6:50 PM
