Roe V Wade decision tomorrow or Thursday.

What will the public reaction be? Will chaos ensue with violent riots ?

It cannot. States can have reasonable regulations on disposition of firearms.

Based on what Iā€™m reading online , this is a heated argument.

And guess which governmental body gets to decide what ā€œreasonable regulationā€ means.

I think weā€™re ~10 years away from the GQP figuring out a way to pre-arm every fetus with a tiny AR-15.

by Anonymousreply 19June 21, 2022 3:38 AM

[quote]Then people will go back to their cellphones, and will forget that rights were taken away from half the population.

A chunk of that half is too young or too old to get pregnant and only a percentage of those in the childbearing years want to use abortion as their preferred method of birth control.

An astrologer I follow said itā€™s likely tomorrow. I guess weā€™ll see.

by Anonymousreply 22June 21, 2022 3:46 AM

Abortion is nobodyā€™s preferred method of birth control, as you well know. If you had a shred of empathy youā€™d be slightly more honest in your approach to the conversation instead of swooping in with the amateurish trolling.

by Anonymousreply 23June 21, 2022 3:47 AM

R37, she would have had to retire before 2014, since thatā€™s the last time Dems controlled the Senate before Dump was elected. As we saw, no way McConnell would have allowed Obama a SC pick while Republicans held the Senate. I believe she realized that not only did Hillary need to be elected in 2016, but Dems would have to control the Senate (neither happened). Then it was a waiting game until 2020ā€“she almost made it.

by Anonymousreply 52June 21, 2022 3:16 PM

I'm pro-abortion. I want all of the women who are either incapable or financially unable to rear a child to get an abortion because I don't want these babies to live their lives on welfare or grow up to be criminals. That being said, why can't women use birth control if they're going to have sex? Is this so difficult? It's similar to AIDs: if you want to stay safe, take precautions.

by Anonymousreply 53June 21, 2022 3:21 PM

I just keep imagining if I was a woman and someone was telling me how to dress, what to do with my life, when to speak and yes, whether to become a mother or not. It all sounds repulsive.

I'd escape civilization and live like a wild person in the forest.

by Anonymousreply 54June 21, 2022 3:25 PM

All good, said and done. But the appeasement-Obama was bent on seating Merrick Garland, (also pssst, psshawā€¦ this feckless, impotent) Merrick do-nothing/Pro-Institutionalist, Garland that it wouldnā€™t matter anyway.

There is not a snowballā€™s chance in hell that Merrick Garland would have made squat nothing change anyway.

Water under the bridge.

Move on, please.

by Anonymousreply 55June 21, 2022 3:26 PM

Birth control can fail even when used perfectly, R53. (The number of people who wear masks with their noses hanging out should suggest the rate of user error.) Additionally, many states seeking to ban abortion also want to ban or restrict access to birth control while simultaneously mandating abstinence-only sex education which correlates with higher levels of unplanned pregnancies.

by Anonymousreply 56June 21, 2022 3:29 PM

R45. You give your self off, you mean-spirited cunt. It was at the time that Chelsea Handler and her ilk took the right of controlling their own bodies for granted. In that respect, yes, of course they didā€¦

AND THEY SHOULD have control of their own bodies, you self-righteous CUNT or LOSER, small-dick Incel!

Get it right, you fat, abhorrent cunt that no man with a breathing capacity will ever fuck!

Nothing and none of your fruitless efforts will get a man to fuck you and introduce you as a spouse to his parents.

Your efforts will simply bury you more into your fat, sex-less folds

by Anonymousreply 57June 21, 2022 3:39 PM

R53, not all pregnancies are the product of voluntary sex.

by Anonymousreply 58June 21, 2022 3:53 PM

[QUOTE]women will just stop having sex with men. it's simple, really. that's the only way to get men to support women in the fight against abortion is to stop having sex with men. Also, all women and girls need guns to kill would-be rapists.

That won't work. Republiqans will just make rape legal. It might as well be now. Women who shoot their rapists will be charged with murder. Just watch.

by Anonymousreply 59June 21, 2022 3:56 PM

OP also predicted 8 of the last 5 recessions.

by Anonymousreply 60June 21, 2022 5:12 PM

In some states, they want to ban abortion for rape and incest. One (female) congress person said that it would be an "opportunity" for a rape victim to be forced to carry her assailant's baby for 9 months and then go through a painful 24-hour delivery that might tear from from clit to anus. Unbelievable.

by Anonymousreply 61June 21, 2022 5:27 PM

If she has a gun, she has agency. Thatā€™s right. Sheā€™ll have the agency to shoot your hard prick right off.

Problem solved, ad infinitum. No costly jail time, no 3 hots and a cot.

Just neuter the situation.

by Anonymousreply 62June 21, 2022 5:43 PM

R62, unfortanately not everyone feels comfortable carrying a deadly weapon 24/7, and when you're panicking it's not always easy to aim and fire correctly.

by Anonymousreply 63June 21, 2022 5:44 PM

R51 Imagine you are woman who has just found out that your fetus is damaged or that giving birth might actually kill you, or that you have just found out that you have cancer and the cancer treatment might damage the fetus. Imagine you wanted a baby but later found out that your partner was the scum of the Earth and you didn't want to be tied to that person for the next 18 years of your life and beyond. Maybe your husband tried to kill you, but you can't prove it, and now you are having his baby. Imagine that you become disabled and won't be able to care for a child. Well you have a dick and none of those situations will never confront you.

by Anonymousreply 75June 22, 2022 1:34 AM

R62 plenty of people don't believe women who are actually raped, but you think they'll believe a woman who says she shot a man because she thought he was going to rape her?

Those women will just end up in jail. And when they are raped by correctional guards, they will be forced to birth those babies too.

People make mistakes. They get drunk and forget to use a condom. They get sick, and they take antibiotics without reading the paperwork that says antibiotics can counter the effects of the BC pill. They use the rhythm method incorrectly or the pull-out method because they haven't been educated properly. Should the penalty for a 15-mistake be 9 months of body discomfort, a long and painful delivery that might cause permanent damage, and an obligation to meet a child's every need for 18 years?

And some women follow all the rules with birth control and still get knocked up. No birth control is 100 percent effective. Except abstinence. That's what the religious zealots want: abstinence. They want people to stop having sex outside of (straight) marriage. That's not reasonable for any adult, though.

by Anonymousreply 91June 22, 2022 3:47 PM

Thatā€™s why every woman in the south will turn lesbian since thereā€™s no chance of pregnancy and they can still get off!

GOOD! Win-win for gays and lesbians.

The Supreme Court is a religious institution, far right Catholic specifically. Theyā€™re there to tear down civil rights and protect corporate interests from having to engage ethically with the citizens. What other countries, outside of maybe Iran and that ilk, have a religious body as the final arbiter of the business of the nation? Itā€™s remarkable in 2022 that Christianity has so much power over everyone here. Jewish people, atheists, Buddhists etc. must be subjugated to the whims of the radical Catholic fanatics who are the majority of the court.

I thought the SC goes into recess from Friday, tomorrow.

Maybe a snowball from hell will survive and the Court will not completely overturn Roe, but set some limitations on late term abortions because it would be illegal to block abortion pills too, even on the state level. Itā€™s been proven safe and only the FDA can remove it from the market.

by Anonymousreply 112June 23, 2022 7:47 AM

Nothing about abortion so far this morning, but the Court has struck down a New York gun law that places restrictions on carrying a concealed gun.

by Anonymousreply 113June 23, 2022 2:53 PM

Wow!

Though I canā€™t say that was unexpected.

by Anonymousreply 114June 23, 2022 2:54 PM

Also today:

If a police officer fails to give a suspect his Miranda warnings, and the gov't uses the suspect's un-Mirandized statements against him in court, can the suspect sue the officer for violating his Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination? In a 6-3 ruling, SCOTUS says no.

by Anonymousreply 115June 23, 2022 2:56 PM

Announcements are finished, the Court will issue more opinions at 10 am tomorrow.

by Anonymousreply 116June 23, 2022 2:57 PM

Wow, this is all terrible for the people. But of course the people wonā€™t do a thing to stop the evil Republicans.

by Anonymousreply 117June 23, 2022 3:00 PM

The Court has eight decisions remaining. Abortion isn't the only major one let. Significant climate change one is left. School prayer case has potential to be big or a fizzle. It would be unusual for them to all be handed down tomorrow. Maybe an opinion day next week?

by Anonymousreply 118June 23, 2022 3:01 PM

Tomorrow it drops

by Anonymousreply 119June 24, 2022 6:00 AM

I hope the Supremes hand down a ruling that is workable, because striking down the federal protection of Roe is going to unleash hel.l. And exactly how the fuck are they going to enforce it??

Are Federal LE officers going to arrest pregnant women and their doctors because many drs will continue performing them anyway. Can you imagineā€¦half of our population may be jailed or fined or both. Will they become instant felons so they canā€™t find employment. Imagine it? I suppose these Christofascists and misogynists will keep women in jail for 9 months until delivery.

Thatā€™s not even factoring in the financials, incidentally.

Banning abortion is simply unenforceable.

by Anonymousreply 120June 24, 2022 6:17 AM

I agree 119. The abortion decision will drop tomorrow (Friday), to allow for mass protests to clog the streets, highways, etc.. The rest will come next week.

You need to read Clarence Thomas' concurring opinion. He says the rulings to legalize same-sex relationships and same-sex marriage now need to be reconsidered.

by Anonymousreply 131June 24, 2022 2:52 PM

R130, they absolutely will. Clarence Thomas has said so.

by Anonymousreply 132June 24, 2022 3:01 PM

I think Clarence and his hag wife are likely to spend the rest of their lives in unofficial "house arrest." Teehee.

by Anonymousreply 133June 24, 2022 4:03 PM

R140, Iā€™m astounded that you donā€™t think theyā€™re coming after gay rights. They absolutely are.

by Anonymousreply 134June 24, 2022 4:08 PM

Oops, obv. I meant r130 at my post at r134.

by Anonymousreply 135June 24, 2022 4:09 PM

So RBG's retirement didn't matter. Had she gone earlier it would have still been revoked with a 5-4 vote, no?

by Anonymousreply 136June 24, 2022 7:11 PM

Exactly r136.

by Anonymousreply 137June 24, 2022 7:19 PM

So much misinformation out there.

Yes, RBG's replacement made the difference. Roberts was NOT on board with overruling Roe. He voted to uphold the Mississippi ban, but specifically called out the five-justices who did decide to overrule Roe for eliminating the abortion right altogether, so yes, it made a difference.

Clarence Thomas is one man. Kavanaugh, who was crucial to the five justice anti-Roe bloc, said in his concurrence that he does not see this decision as casting contraception or same-sex marriage decisions into doubt. Believe him or not, but if you're going to bring up one, bring up the other.

by Anonymousreply 138June 24, 2022 7:56 PM

R138, Kavanaugh is not the leader of the conservatives, Thomas is. Both Thomas and Alito are fanatics who have criticized the decisions recognizing the basic rights of gay people. It is also worth noting that Kavanaugh is a liar. He lied about treating Roe as settled precedent. Thereā€™s no reason to believe what he says.

[quote]Kavanaugh, who was crucial to the five justice anti-Roe bloc, said in his concurrence that he does not see this decision as casting contraception or same-sex marriage decisions into doubt.

I believe him!

by Anonymousreply 140June 24, 2022 8:38 PM

Soā€¦..what can Congress and Biden DO now to stop it from being implemented?

Can Biden issue an Executive Order or a stay by the DOJ?

Can individual Governors refuse to implement it?

by Anonymousreply 141June 24, 2022 9:38 PM

[quote]Can individual Governors refuse to implement it?

Refuse to implement what?

Do keep up. Today's decision leaves abortion rights up to the individual states.

In states such as New York and California, for instance, abortion is and will remain legal.

by Anonymousreply 142June 24, 2022 9:52 PM

Refuse to implement the SC ruling to maintain R v. W by placing a STAY on the states courts. Iā€™m not a lawyer, but thereā€™s been instances take a court ruling can be stayed until further moving parts are in place.

Ex: a woman is raped and pregnant, but she canā€™t afford to leave her job to go another state to get an abortion. What if she has childcare obligations? Whoā€™s going to pay for these extra costs? So you can implement a new law withou addressing these issue.

Those dumb ass judges didnā€™t think it through because they donā€™t give a shit and want all us to be Christian only.

by Anonymousreply 143June 24, 2022 10:12 PM

All you pregnant ladies about to pop, head to the Senate floor and hand any unable to care for newborn babies to those 5 Justices! DO IT. So far, it isnā€™t a crimeā€¦yet. Let them take care of and provide a place for the innocent child to live

by Anonymousreply 144June 24, 2022 11:20 PM

[quote]head to the Senate floor and hand any unable to care for newborn babies to those 5 Justices!

You do know the SC justices are not seated in the Senate, um, right?

by Anonymousreply 145June 24, 2022 11:26 PM

There will just be more cock for gay guys, as men become afraid of becoming fathers.

by Anonymousreply 146June 24, 2022 11:34 PM

R146, Iā€™d like to be optimistic, but I do not think that ever worked.

by Anonymousreply 147June 24, 2022 11:42 PM

So if had been 4-4 Roberts would have voted the other way?

I'm so confused as to his vote.

by Anonymousreply 148June 24, 2022 11:55 PM

R148, the Roberts opinion is a disgrace. He says, in essence, that the Court should go slowly in overturning Roe. He thinks Roe is wrong, but he thought it would be alarming to just pull the rug out from under it. It was a purely political, even cosmetic, matter to him.

Asked this on the other thread, but seriously as a gay man living in North Carolina should I move to a blue state as soon as possible? It's beginning to feel we've entered a Handmaid's Tale type of situation...

by Anonymousreply 150June 25, 2022 12:10 AM

Weā€™re in Atlanta and had this conversation today. We can easily sell up and relocate to RI. It feels like the clock is ticking now and weā€™ll be Texas shortly because the Republican government here always jumps onboard sooner or later. Iā€™ve been out for 30 years and Iā€™ve never felt so unsettled being in America than now. They are coming for us and it will be worse in the South for now.

by Anonymousreply 151June 25, 2022 12:26 AM

The street will soon be run by gangs of motherless children.

by Anonymousreply 152June 25, 2022 12:29 AM

Horrible turn of events

by Anonymousreply 153June 25, 2022 1:36 AM

R150 If you can afford it I think it would be wise to move to a blue state. Otherwise, you might be living in a state that basically has sharia law. come join us in a blue state.

by Anonymousreply 154June 25, 2022 7:41 AM

Prophetic poster ā€œ agree 119. The abortion decision will drop tomorrow (Friday), to allow for mass protests to clog the streets, highways, etc.. The rest will come next week.ā€

by Anonymousreply 155June 28, 2022 1:43 AM

This could bring on civil War 2

by Anonymousreply 156June 28, 2022 1:45 AM

R150 CT resident here, and I'd just like to invite you to look at the Nutmeg State! There's a LOT of ass backwards- local-yokel-trade school-Trumptards lingering about.

by Anonymousreply 157June 28, 2022 2:08 AM

I hope you're right, R156.

If you as a gay man are concerned that you will be unable to get an abortion, you definitely should go somewhere.

by Anonymousreply 159June 28, 2022 2:21 AM

We are in the middle of the Second Civil War.

When, Texas said it was going to empower third person bounty hunters and the SCOTUS Shadow Docket validated the violation if all civil rights, Republicans had attained the Holy Grail, of ignoring laws and enforcing others against their enemies.

by Anonymousreply 160June 28, 2022 1:46 PM

[quote]This could bring on civil War 2

I strongly prefer Civil War II. It just looks much prettier.

by Anonymousreply 161June 28, 2022 4:01 PM
