Does anyone here wear dentures? I have a condition where my tooth enamel didn't form properly and my teeth will eventually give out, my dentist brought up dentures but I'm really hoping to have the money for implants by the time I need either but for those who have them, what are dentures like?
Dentures

Dentures are terrible. I tried for a while but then headed to Mexico for implants. Not too expensive there.

My brother has dentures and hates them. Apparently applying them and gluing them in is quite a process. And then they don't work like real teeth. He complains he can't rip and tear meat like he could with his own teeth. I had the money for implants, thank god.

I have a partial bridge. I rarely notice it’s there and I sleep with it removed. But I’m only missing three teeth in the lower. I have one implant on the upper and, while it’s not cheap and the process takes about six months, but it was worth it. Yea

My father had them and he said the top teeth held a lot better than the bottoms. The bottoms were always moving around. He lost his teeth to gum disease when he was in his twenties.

How much does an implant go for?

I have a 5 tooth bridge attached to 2 implants and paid 3,700 USD on the Mexican border for the procedure.

R6 How much would that have cost in the states? Are you happy with the quality of the work?

I went to a dentist in Las Algodones which is across from Yuma, Arizona. The town is full of dentist. I went to Dr Valenzuela 928 328 8846.
I had another implant done in the USA and it was 4k for a single tooth so Mexico is half the price.

Thanks, R10 I really appreciate the information.

One thing to remember with implants is there is about a 6 month time frame that you have to wait before putting on a crown. And if the implant is on the bottom teeth you cannot wear a temporary denture.

Check out Ancestral Supplement's "Living Bone" on Amazon. Haven't tried it, but it has hundreds of rave reviews.
And cut back on the donuts and ho-hos.

Better blowjob-giving ability when you take those dentures out.

Can't you just do veneers? Is that what veneers are? replacing the enamel/ outside of the tooth? Seems way easier than implants, or dentures.

Yeah R15 but eventually all my teeth will be affected, I've already had to have four molars pulled.

R16 that sucks. I have limited experience with dentures. My grandmother had them but she was very vain and always put them in (her glass eye however was another matter). One of my friends was greek and it was a thing in her family in Montreal to get dentures rather than braces or other corrective dental work b/c dentures were cheaper. However what I noticed was none of them ever bothered to "put their teeth in" so they wandered around without teeth- which they had willingly pulled out. I also notice that people with dentures definitely seem to suffer bone loss in their jaw that changes the shape of their face (that is what would scare me the most. I would get veneers for the teeth I could now to protect them from having to get root canals etc or further damage. And then where I had to I would get crowns or implants if necessary. I have a couple of crowns and they are fine. One other thought (I also have really shitty teeth), when I was a kid to protect some of my teeth before my jaw had grown enough for real dental work- or b/c my parents were too cheap for real teeth, they painted some of my teeth with bonding. Its basically the stuff they fill cavities with. They painted a few teeth and bonded a few others. I think that would protect your teeth while you collected money. And also go to a dental school where it is cheaper.

Mine are fine. Modern ones are very lightweight and not at all like the ones people wore decades ago, If I had tens of thousands to spend on implants I might, but I don’t. No big deal.

Ive got 2 implants and I hate them. When I got mine they were $1500 each. Now they run about $3000. Im due to get another implant but I refuse. I did much better with my partials than I ever have with these wretched implants and I bitterly regret allowing them to talk me into it. They pulled so many of my teeth, including my front teeth, and now I cant bite for shit. Keep as many of your real teeth as feasible and get partials.
