Rape case against soccer star Cristiano Ronaldo dismissed due to 'misconduct' by plaintiff's attorney
The federal civil case alleging that Portuguese soccer player Cristiano Ronaldo raped a woman in a Las Vegas hotel room in 2009 was dismissed on Friday.
Judge Jennifer Dorsey accepted the recommendation of a federal magistrate, saying that an attorney for accuser Kathryn Mayorga engaged in misconduct so severe that it would be impossible for Ronaldo to have a fair trial.
"Because of her attorney's abuses and flagrant circumvention of the proper litigation process, Mayorga loses her opportunity to pursue this case and attempt to unwind the settlement of claims that, themselves, implicate serious allegations of a highly personal nature," Dorsey wrote. The case was dismissed with prejudice, meaning Mayorga cannot refile the complaint.

Mayorga said she was coerced into signing a nondisclosure agreement and $375,000 settlement following the alleged rape, which Ronaldo has maintained was a consensual sexual encounter. Mayorga had asked the judge to void that agreement.
The court found that one of Mayorga's attorneys, Leslie Stovall, reached out to the source of that leak to request those documents, including "the reporting and communications of the attorneys and investigators representing and defending Ronaldo following the sexual assault thru the negotiations and conclusion of the settlement and non-disclosure agreement."

This creep has had private meetings with 'Dr' Jordan Peterson.
Cri is almost definitely a woman-hater. A rare giga-Chad misogynist, but a misogynist, nonetheless.

This will save Ronaldo from having to plead the Swish Amendment.

He’s bad news. He liked Trump. He raped that teacher in Vegas. I’m sad for her.

This dude has hopes of buying the MLS team in Florida or California, I think. I hope not. I hope he’s not allowed somehow. This is after he retires.

Cristiano isn't even considered the best foreign/non-Brit player in Prem history, whatever certain marketing might prefer you to believe. He's not even completely retired, and already every fan these days knows he's outclassed on almost all fronts by the likes of Aguero, De Bruyne, Drogba, Hazard, Mahrez, Salah, Vieira etc. Then you have to consider the immense legacies of Bergkamp, Cantona, Schemichel, Thierry Henry, in terms of the past....
Ronaldo is an amazing technical footballer, it sadly cannot be denied. But he's just not as GOATed as he thinks, or as the media want us to think. Also he's a piece of shit as a person, simply lacking the class of any of the aforementioned ballers.

Can’t believe this attractive, filthy rich Portuguese soccer player would force himself on a woman. Ugh!

Interesting to me that Mason Greenwood is (rightfully) in prison, and Benjamin Mendy (rightfully) is up on charges, while this creep walks free.

R13 One of the claimant's attorneys obtained all the documents and communications between defendant Ronaldo and his legal team in the underlying settlement of the rape claim—all of it protected by Ronoldo's attorney-client privilege.
That meant she obtained and read all the investigation & legal info, presumably including discussions between Ronaldo and his attorneys, emails between the attorneys & investigators, discussions of legal defenses & factual defenses by defendant's attorneys, assessment of trial strategy, etc, and whatever else led the legal team to propose the settlement and nondisclosure agreement.
Highly, highly unethical conduct by claimant's attorney. If claimant's attorney did get that info, there is no way defendant could get a fair trial. It’s as though the claimant's attorney walked into defendant's counsel's law firm, at night, unlocked the computers and read all of defense counsel's entire case, notes, legal theories, before trial.
