And there are many reasons why kids are homeschooled. My friends homeschooled their kids because it was easier for their schedules which required a lot of travel. Other friends homeschooled their kid because he needed extra attention.

My students who were homeschooled prior to high school are well adjusted, interesting kids. The ones who come from Montessori schools are a lot more like the DL stereotype of homeschooled kids.

I guess where I live home schooling is handled differently than in California. Home schooled kids are still associated administratively with the public school they would be required to attend if they weren't home schooled. The parents have to submit data, including test results, every month to the school so it can be insured the kids are getting a proper education. When they graduate they walk with the other graduates at those schools. Should they desire, they are also allowed to participate in various school sports as well.
