by Anonymous | reply 2 | June 9, 2022 1:50 PM |
r1 at least he's not taking advantage of a national tragedy. And he didn't bring photographers along unlike someone i could mention.
by Anonymous | reply 3 | June 9, 2022 1:54 PM |
That doesn't change the fact that William, who has ENORMOUS family wealth and could very easily house all the homeless people in Britain in one of the monarchy's many estates, is engaging in an exploitative PR stunt of the lowest order with some of the most vulnerable members of society. Harry is just as much of a piece of shit and is also a retarded simpleton on top of it all, but this doesn't exonerate any other member of the BRF. These people enjoy incredible wealth and every privilege imaginable and yet, they underpay and mistreat their staff and don't really do much for those who are in desperate need of shelter. That is above and beyond shameful.

Homelessness is a national tragedy and yes he is taking advantage of it.

William (and Diana) are/were heavily involved with a charity called Centrepoint, a organization that helps homeless youth. He's attended multiple meetings, helps raise funds and years ago, he even slept outside so he could get a sense of what it was like. It's not a PR stunt, assholes.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | June 9, 2022 2:14 PM |
He wears those jeans nicely. Shame about the face, but he’s kept his body in great shape.

by Anonymous | reply 8 | June 9, 2022 2:20 PM |
It's a PR stunt. Everything he does is for PR to keep the machine going. He's doing none of it out of the goodness of his heart. It's a job, it's always been just a job. That's the deal, if you choose to accept it. But the deal comes with a lot of other bullshit attached to it.
by Anonymous | reply 9 | June 9, 2022 2:21 PM |
R6 Attending multiple meetings. Oh my God what a tremendous sacrifice. And yrs ago he pulled an even bigger PR stunt and slept outside. That should qualify him for sainthood.

by Anonymous | reply 15 | June 9, 2022 2:43 PM |
He can't really do anything right.
If he stayed in one of his many homes, he'd get criticised for being a rich privileged asshole who doesn't care about anyone. If he goes out and does things like this, well, you only need to look at the above comments.
Even if he wanted to house homeless people in one of the many Royal residences, he couldn't, as he hasn't got the power to. He can't help the family he was born into either.
I'm not saying I feel sorry for him at all, but when people complain about Prince William, I often wonder what he could do that would actually make people happy. And I honestly can't think of anything. (Though I think some people actually enjoy complaining, so maybe he's making them happy indirectly.)
by Anonymous | reply 16 | June 9, 2022 2:43 PM |
Ugh I agree, no need for another thread, can’t we just have one for the lot of them? That said, if you read Tina Brown’s book on Diana, it’s very obvious she was sincere in her devotion to charities. Yes, she definitely enjoyed the attention it got her, but she also got a deep satisfaction when she could be of help. Maybe William inherited a bit of this.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | June 9, 2022 2:47 PM |
Her Majesty The Queen must be delighted that the future of the monarch is in Prince William’s hands (as well as his wife and children) . The extra time HM and Prince Philip took in mentoring him obviously has paid off . Prince William is the real deal.

[quote]he'd get criticised for being a rich privileged asshole who doesn't care about anyone.
He fucks around on his wife, so he already shows he doesn't care about the most important person in his life. Why exactly do you feel compelled to defend this nonsense? This is precisely why many of us think you people are idiots, particularly when you psychotically attack Markle or the husband on behalf of these useless assholes.
Seriously, WTF do you feel the need to defend these strangers and worse, completely go insane in your defense by attacking some other strangers related to the strangers you defend?

I would wager that he would get far fewer comments about this being a PR stunt, had he and the palace not spent so much time using PR the last few years to distract from Andrew and dodge criticism. Instead of being proactive, they were reactive. Every time something happened, they would pull some PR stunt to try to distract the public or regain popularity. Now, no one trusts them to be genuine when they're seen helping out.

Also, you're just repeating an old discredited rumor about Will's cheating. You must be a Harkle fan, huh? That's the same shit they post every time anything nice is posted about the Cambridges.
by Anonymous | reply 45 | June 17, 2022 7:46 PM |
It is interfering. You know it and I know it. How do you think that's going to play if trump gets re-elected?
That's how it's playing across the pond. But I'm sure you know more than British people. they've been raging all day. And what do you know, just like that another article comes out and says, "William's mourning the breakup with his relationship with Harry" to try and sweep his political interference off the front page
He did cheat on his wife. That's why they're moving. It's been in the works for half a year. The workmen have been upgrading it for months. Now shut the fuck up

[quote]William did not cheat . We know where that rumor came from. Why are you so clueless?
We all do know. You're the clueless one.
It sure didn't come from Harry or Meghan either. It came from Gilles Coran. He said everyone knew it. And all the other papers reported it. They would not have done that if it weren't true or if they thought it was just a rumor.
THEY ALL REPORTED IT. Even The Sun, who Camilla has had a relationship with for decades. Arthur Edwards is her go to guy there since the 1980s
William wouldn't have gotten an injunction stopping the press from repeating any of it. His lawyer said the papers were violating his human rights. If they were lying, he would have said they were lying. But they weren't.
Claiming papers are violating someone's human rights is how all the rich men get their injunctions. it worked for david beckham (numerous times) and elton john's perverted husband as well as dozens of other rich men
by Anonymous | reply 52 | June 17, 2022 11:31 PM |
Maybe that's one (of the many) reasons that William looks so tense. Maybe he can still cheat - but he's worried about the future of the monarchy - his kingship indeed. And he's bound to think about what Camilla-gate did to Charles' reputation back in the day.
Ha ha ha. It's the prerogative of his sort - but he may be cockblocked, by the public and the rags. Like presidents over here who used to be notorious infidels (well, that's the wrong use of that word but you know what I mean... hell, the real meaning probably fits too -- except for Mike Pence)

William was butting into American politics by writing that letter. He's never said a thing about American politics, but now he's putting himself in the middle of the insurrection? He needs to stay the fuck out of it. His country is in a giant mess because of Brexit and the only thing he's doing is possibly getting them into more trouble.
by Anonymous | reply 60 | June 18, 2022 8:56 PM |
Butting into American politics? There was nothing “political” about the attempt to overthrow our government. Politics is trade stuff, budgets, spending. Not insurrection. And if William wants to express his sorrow to someone whose loved one died when traitors stormed the Capitol, I see no problem.

Socialism 101 for 14 year olds.
By that tired old silly canard about "room", anyone with an extra bedroom should housec a homeless person.
Britain isnt Russia after 1917.
Homelessness is more than a simple unfortunate Act of God. It has not only many causes at different times, but also for different people.
The reduction of William's gesture to some gross caricature of Marxist bullshit is itself simpleminded adolescent bullshit.
The royals' job is patronage: the aren't supposed to solve the country's economic problems, the government is. Meanwhile, the name of Prin e William on a charity letterhead can bring in funding just on its own.
His father's marquee charity, The Prince's Trust, is one of the most successful youth help organistions in the world. It ust opened a chapter in New York City.
As mentioned above, not only can Hugh Grosvenor, Duke of Westminster, buy and sell Harry's Gran twice over, so can the Chancellor of the Exchequer and his wife.
So the pot shotscat William are juvenile and stupid.
He's doing his job, which is highlighting the work of people trying to help, so that they get more support for the work they do.
I never noticed Diana cutting down on her wardrobe expenses whilst she highlighted the work of Dr Barnardos, the Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children, or Refuge (did you see her taking in any abused women into Kensington Palace?).
Grow the fuck up.

R72 - You act as if there is something "off" about the royals being seen to be carrying out their job of patronage. There isn't.
They ARE supposed to be seen and photographed doing this stuff, otherwise, the whole point is lost: the royals highlighting worthy causes and the organisations that address those causes. It's like saying there's something wrong with their names appearing on the mastheadsand web sites of organisations they support as "Royal Patron" or "Advisory Board".
There is NO comparison to Meghan Markle, a private citizen announcing that she is in Uvalde as a private citizen, but bringing a film crew with her to be sure the public, whom she in no way represents, knows she was there. That's quite apart from her indecent haste in doing so within 48 hours whilst parents were still providing DNA samples to identify their childrens' shattered bodies.
William was there on behalf of what his well-known job is: patronage.
Meghan Markle was in Uvalde on behalf of Meghan Markle.

I have to be seen to be believed.
As suggested earlier, take your obsessional shit about the monarchy to it's own thread.

by Anonymous | reply 81 | June 23, 2022 1:50 PM |
Absolutely loathe the portrait, and I really like the Cambridges.
With Kate's overall fantastic wardrobe, with all its simple lines and beautiful tailoring, she had to wear this fussy Not Quite Daywear Not Quite Eveningwear mess for the portrait?!
Either go full mufti with the gown and family orders, or select a simpler tea length number without the revolting shiny material.
I get that the artist was aiming for something regal (hence the length, rich colour, and shiny material) but not too Out Of Reach look, but, instead, got a pedestrian look with, unusually, the dress wearing Kate rather than the other way round.
Really, with the size of her closet, this was the best choice?!
by Anonymous | reply 82 | June 23, 2022 2:30 PM |
I didn't like that weird statue of Diana with the children (who were not her children.) She looked so blocky and manly.
I guess this portrait is better than that, but why are they looking off in the wrong direction? And so much attention to her bust? WTH?
by Anonymous | reply 83 | June 23, 2022 2:32 PM |
I noticed the odd bust accentuation, too. I wonder what the rationale for having them look off to the distance was. A nod to old royal portraiture that had subjects looking anywhere but the camera?
by Anonymous | reply 84 | June 23, 2022 2:36 PM |
Starting at about 2:20, I don't think Kate and especially William look all that happy with it either.
by Anonymous | reply 85 | June 23, 2022 2:38 PM |
Kate actually has quite a nice bust, she always has - those photos of her topless that William sued over made that clear. She's always filled out the bustline of her clothes nicely.
But surely she had some say in which dress to pick for this (by the way, I think she has it in another colour, plum or fuschia or something, but don't quote me)?
Her engagement white suit, which she undoubtedly still fits into, would have been better.
by Anonymous | reply 86 | June 23, 2022 2:43 PM |
Will and Kate should have declined to have an official portrait, especially since they're not on the throne. Spoiled brats.
by Anonymous | reply 87 | June 26, 2022 8:37 AM |
R87 Diana had multiple portraits done whilst nowhere near the throne 30 years ago, given the Queen robust health, being just in her fifties.
I don't remember anyone calling her a "spoiled brat" for doing the same thing at an even younger age. She also had at least half a dozen "official" photo portraits done.
William just turned 40. The Royal Mint also issued a coin with his face on it to note the obvious.
It's customary. It has nothing to do with personality.
But you knew that. You just hate these two people.
He's not only the direct heir but one, but so close to becoming Prince of Wales and first in line, you can smell it.
Spoiled brats is more applicable to, say, a sixth in line suing the government to get the taxpayer to cover his security costs in Britain, and his wife throwing a hissy fit because whilst on tour Down Under, she only got one wing of Government House, not the whole thing.
Official portraits as they mature are standard for people in William's position.
You're just another Cambridge Hate Troll, spouting nonsense and exposing your petty anger.
Because the Cambridges are on a trajectory only going up, something official portraits symbolise.
And the Sussexes are on their way down.
That's the only possible rationale for so profoundly stupid a remark.
Wait till you see the A list crowds in L.A. for the awarding of the Earthshot Prize. Word on the street is that celebrities and other A listers are already fighting to get themselves on the guest list.
Well, Sweetie, that's what being A list means: giving out knighthoods and honours, attending state banquets and the opening of Parliament, paying your courtesy call on the Queen up at Balmoral . . .
And official portraits to mark your transition to soneine coming ever closer to that Next Step Up.
Eat it, along with a large helping of sour grapes, Meghan.

[quote]They ARE supposed to be seen and photographed doing this stuff, otherwise, the whole point is lost
Wrong. They're just supposed to get on with the job. They aren't celebrities trying to sell a product.
But I'm glad you admit they pimp themselves out to the media. The Queen never did it. The Queen Mum, Prince Philip, Princess Anne, they never did it. They just got on with the job.
Princess diana did it. And look where that got her. Prince Charles used to do it when he was waged in a battle for media attention with Princess Diana. He doesn't do it anymore. Who is William waged in a publicity battle with?
We know

R89 You Morin. They ARE selling a product: patronage broadly as a function, and the work there patronages are doing.
You evaded, I note, the mention of what a senior royals' name on a charity's letterhead does for its power to atttarct high-level donors.
You think Dr Barnatdos would have sold 20,000 quid tables at its fundraising gala out in five minutes without Diana?
You think Amal Clooney wanted a plum position at The Prince's Trust because she cares about youth?
The monar hy represents the nation.
You can't do that behind Palace walls in this era.
You're bias is showing.
What William did IS getting on with the job.
And as for that PR war: lookbat the polls
The Sussexes alreadyost it
Even in America, they have under 50% favourability.
The polls show that your liint of view is the outlier and at odds with the truth.
William is the second most popular royal after the Queen in both Britain and America.
They think he IS getting on with the job. And they like the job he's doing.
Eat it.

Why are they letting an heir to the throne play polo, did the death of Henry II teach them nothing?
by Anonymous | reply 95 | July 6, 2022 5:43 PM |
I remember Charles playing polo and he was a hell of a lot closer to the throne than 6th place Haz.

Memo to Meghan....here is how you behave at a polo match.
1) allow the players of each team to line up to allow photos to be taken (eg. you are not to be seen) 2) stand off to the side out of camera range while the above is occurring 3) when your husband (of the winning team) comes to collect his trophy, you give him an affectionate hug and kiss (no excessive pawing or hanging off his body is permitted). 4) ALL proceeds from the polo event should go to charities (nothing is taken from you to line your pocket)
You're welcome.

I think William has played polo in the last few days - for some charity! Should we panic R95! We CANNOT have Harry and Meghan on the throne!

Any plans afterwards? Going back Down Under?
Will Jo, Blair, Tootie and Natalie attend the ceremony?

I usually like Kate's clothes, but I hate that dress and I hate the colour.
In fact, I generally hate what she wears to Wimbledon.
I know she needs to be seen and she's tall and slim, but ffs, these bright and jewel coloured tea dance dresses have got to get off Centre Court.

Kate looked much better today. Much prettier colour and, saints above, she finally found a pair of spectator pumps.

So, does anyone know why the tabs haven't picked up on what Meghan said in her Motion to Dismiss her sister's libel suit, that what Meghan said on Oprah was opinion, not fact?
It is because it's taken from a court paper?

Why didn't Jocko curtsy? Or acknowledge Kate in any way whatsoever - though he did the kid?

R111 Men bow, they don't curtsy. Especially not this man.
And he isn't required to bow, that is no longer demanded from anyone, especially foreigners.
