I'm not an American, but I watched the primary debate for fun and yeah, he seemed slow. But, he came out on top in the end, so I guess slow and steady wins the race?

Also, I might be gay, but I kinda love how he appointed the anti-gay Fernando Cabrera as senior faith adviser despite all the (very vocal) protestations. Maybe if he doesn't bow down to every group left and right, he can actually get something done? Isn't that what he was elected for, to govern effectively?

I voted for Kathryn Garcia and still think she was the most qualified. But I also think she'd have been in an impossible situation--inheriting a shitshow and, as a white woman, unable to do anything about the rising crime without being tagged as a racist. Adams has already done things with policing that a non-black mayor never would have gotten away with. Maybe the results aren't being totally felt yet--largely b/c homelessness has exploded so badly--but I've seen swarms of cops show up for even low level shopping offenses, which definitely wouldn't have happened even a year ago and would likely not be happening now with a different mayor.

He is on film speaking to black police officers calling white cops “honkies.”

If the races had been reversed with a white man calling back cops the N word he would have been forced to step down immediately. But he got a pass. I’m sick of the double standard.

And he’s ALREADY talking about running for president a few months into his first term. NYC is just his stepping stone. He can fuck right off.

NYC rocks: Mayor Eric Adams says crystals give city ‘special energy’

Mayor Adams said that the Big Apple is littered with unique crystals that give out a “special energy.”

The former officer — and gem-tleman — even wears multi-colored healing gems on his right wrist. Adams has gotten so into the New Age fad that local blog Hell Gate NYC has dubbed him “NYC’s first Crystals Guy mayor.”

Pricey crystals are popular among celebrities such as Adele and Spencer Pratt and even some Wall Street collectors, who swear by their “healing” properties.

Speaking to Politico in the spring, Adams said he discovered NYC’s iconic bedrock is comprised of unique gems and minerals and that “there’s a special energy that comes from here.”

The “Rock Center” Adams is apparently referring to is the geological layer known as the Manhattan Schist, outcroppings of which can actually be seen in areas such as Central Park, as well as in the basement of Grand Central Terminal.

It contains more than 100 minerals — including quartz, kyanite and dumortierite — and was formed roughly 450 million years ago.

A New York based crystal expert told the Guardian that the mayor — who recently declared that a “vibe shift” is happening in NYC — also, appears to wear several types of quartz on his wrist.

“A quartz is a high-energy crystal,” Nancy Soto, an employee at Namaste crystal shop near Union Square, told The Post, noting that the minerals are increasingly popular among young people on TikTok.

“It’s a high vibrational crystal that clears all things” — including negativity, Soto added, calling Adams’ affinity for the rocks “forward thinking.”

But judging by this week’s poll numbers — in which a majority of New Yorkers said Adams needs to be doing a better job — the gems might not be helping the mayor in the negativity department.

And the scientific community, which considers “crystal healing” to be a load of hooey, agrees.

“They have absolutely no power whatsoever to affect the human body,” Michael Shermer, the publisher of Skeptic magazine and a monthly columnist for Scientific American, told The Post in 2017.

How did this guy even get elected? He seems kinda swampy, dim, crooked, dishonest and played the media with his crime fear mongering.

He's the only Democrat who ran as law and order candidate. The crime problem in part is due to bail reform produced by Albany Democrats many of whom are from NYC. THAT NEEDS TO BE CHANGED. Perhaps electing a Republican governor might scare the Democrats into changing or allowing for serious primary challenges in the next election. A Republican governor would also remove the horrible Manhattan DA.

There is little Adams can do immediately but he should use all his political capital in developing an alternative slate of Democratic candidates for Albany. Again the upset election of a Republican governor might strengthen Adam in this.

Just like the Democratic Party…Eric Adams is garbage.

I think he's doing as good a job as anyone could do now, given the horrible political climate in the country and the sad state of NYC after covid.

But man, he is not gay. Not by any means. And he is not homophobic. He has a number of gays working with him.

I long to see him naked, in his body and his thoughts.

I was just on vacation with my cousin from Chicago and we were playing a game of "Who Has The Worst Mayor".
