Andy felt like a real kid; not some soap hottie but a real son.

Love him. They threw him into the deep end with that alcoholic storyline and he ran with it.

I ran into him at a Daytime Emmys (he was with Maura) and I just kind of did a double take; it was like running into an childhood friend. He said he gets that a lot.

I'll never forgive those cunts from ABC for keeping him off the air. Those sows can rot in hell.

Homely as sin. The viewers wanted someone sexy they could fantasize about. No woman ever fantasized about Scott, i can guarantee that. They needed to hire an ABC hunk like the wonderful Cameron Mathison to play the role and change his name to a sexier Drew.

r4 Why? They didn't think he was hot enough. How? They fired him.

Susan Stewart was so lucky getting to be Andy's sponsor. I wanted to be his sponsor. I wanted to work on his fourth and fifth steps in particular. It's probably a good thing I didn't, or we'd've been 13th stepping.

network execs switching over is the worst.

Babs came over from ABC and ATWT turned into Port Charles; and GL become unrecognizable.

Those shows were murdered.

Being soap operas, though, even after a murder they can be revived.

Who thinks Andy and Paul rubbed one out together once in a while? Those two were pretty tight.

Andy and Paul were perfectly cast as mid 80's teens. ATWT seemed to effortlessly balance a hundred characters, while GH is failing miserably at half that.

DeFrietas was on one of the Locher Rooms I saw, and he looked great, and was so charming and humble.

It turns out Spicen is the Drew Dixon Troll. He's #1, #2, #4, and #5 in my ignored poster list.

Oh Scott DeFreitas! That boy had a face made for radio and a body made for the scrap yard. He had no absolutely no place on a daytime soap opera, even one that appealed to little old ladies.

R20, Johnny Dixon did come back for several episodes as ATWT was wrapping up; shared scenes with Kim and Bob.

Chris was dying of a heart ailment; when John gave condolences to Kim and Bob, they thought he was expressing support over Nancy's recent death and they were like, well a life well lived and Johnny couldn't believe his ears!

I was hooked on ATWT when Scott and Andrew were cast as Andy and Paul respectively, and really enjoyed their work (and yeah, had a crush on both of them). I was also disappointed Andy didn't return for the finale. Would have been nice to have seen all the Hughes/Dixon characters one last time.

Not sure what Scott does now living in Santa Clarita with Maura on GH though. I think he's a die-hard GOPer (though not sure if he crossed the loony line into Trumpville).

I also was very impressed with them on the Lochen chat - there is genuine love and respect that he has/had for Bob Hastings and Kathryn Hayes. And it was mutual. They certainly adore(d) him after all those years.

I was disgusted by how Jack and Carly centric the finale was.

It's hard to believe he was the fifth Andy. I remember at least two Pauls before Andy Kavovit (Greg Brady!), but I don't remember any Andys before Scott.

ATWT was in a tough spot with the finale. Real Lily (no disrespect to Noelle Beck) wouldn’t return despite Beck offering to step aside so Holden/NüLily couldn’t be the romantic focus. So instead Jack and Carly’s surprise pregnancy capping their long-developing reunion was used. It was fine. It would have been melancholy no matter what was featured.

Goutman wouldn't allow Real Lily to return, Martha wanted to and Noelle was willing to step aside

When I worked on the show I got to know Scott a little and he was a great guy. I find it hard to believe he could be GOP. Not impossible but unlikely.

Noelle was recurring, I think; I wonder what would have happened if she just didn't show up or her agent called and said she's not available.

The whole 'fuck the fans and what they want' is why a lot of soaps have gone away.

Danny Pintauro also played Paul Stenbeck (Ryan).

Christopher Goutman ruined the show.

When Scott and Maura lived in Old Tappan, New Jersey, a friend would see them shopping in town.

Andy Kavovit was such a hottie. Could’ve easily seen Paul struggling with his sexuality, especially with James Stenbeck as a daddy.

I can cry when I think of what could have been. Sigh.

R25 mentions Mark Collier. There’s a guy who I thought would have had a bigger career. He’s gorgeous and a decent actor. I’m not sure how he supports himself nowadays. He has no social media although he did a group Locher Room interview.

Mike Kasanoff wasn't related to anyone and therefore could fuck any of the women on the show. I'm surprised that he had such short tenures as characters like that (Brad on Y&R is another) are useful to writers.

Mark Collier was my favorite Mike. But Andy only knew the original Mike, played by Shawn Christian. In my mind, the two of them found each other again sometime after 2010 and are living HEA today. But not in Oakdale.

As if Shawn Christian would give Scott DeFrietas a second look IRL.

He was definitely interested. Like I said, I'm a nice looking woman, so I'd gotten that look before and knew what it meant. So, the man is straight. Hope that helped to clear up any doubts you had about his sexuality.

I'm not sure I understand that obsession with Scott DeFreitas' looks. Except for Jon Hensley, ATWT was never known for casting models until much later. Plus can you imagine what Larry Bryggman would have said about playing opposite some Wilhelmina Model.

This show should've raided the casts of Y&R and B&B. I want to see beautiful people on my soaps, not people like Scott or Lisa Brown who looked like people you see every day in the market. Where was the fantasy? Certainly no one was rubbing one out to the likes of Bryggman or Hubbard.

Even OGLily was chubby and dumpy, though a good actress. I never bought red hot Holden with her. Holden had the looks to be on any soap as a leading man.

THE Guiding Light had fat everything, but As THE World Turns had everything frumpy and crotchety. Vinegary Helen Wagner. Frumpy Ellen Stewart. Kim’s bowl cut. Snaggle tooth Lily. Butch Margo. Lisa’s perms.
