[quote] Kellyanne Conway joined Donald Trump’s orbit after Ted Cruz’s presidential bid collapsed and Paul Manafort wore out his welcome. The Trump White House was a snake pit. Like most Trump memoirs, Conway’s book revels in selective recall as well as settling scores. After all, this is the woman who coined the term “alternative facts”.
'Alternative facts': Kellyanne Conway's new memoir dismantled in brutal book review

She is the classic Trump employee-- someone who no one else would even vaguely think of hiring for the job she had... and so she is both incompetent and completely beholden to Trump for raising her up from obscurity

Just remember that Simon & Schuster is the publishing company who paid her millions to disseminate her lies.
S&S is the publisher that also offered Milo Yiannopoulos $250k for his evil stupid book and then backed out after backlash.
Also the publisher of Trump and lots of alt-right Nazis under its imprint called Threshold Editions, which it doesn't list among other imprints on its website.
Free speech, yes, but book publishers don't need to pay millions to incentivize propagandists to put hate speech into the world.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | May 29, 2022 9:50 PM |
R8, yeah, Conway's experience mainly consisted of being a Republican pollster for a couple of decades. When she was young she started out by working for Frank Luntz before branching out with her own polling company. It was surprising that she took on a key role as Trump's campaign manager and later as "Senior Counselor to the President" because her area of expertise was basically being a polling analyst.
by Anonymous | reply 16 | May 30, 2022 10:45 AM |
R16 Glad you mention her polling experience.
Conway to me is evidence that political polls are *not* predictive, but rather that they are used as propaganda mechanisms to influence voting outcomes.
Polling companies like hers either serve the Democratic party or the Republican party. An objective polling company would serve only its data.
Conway's job in running a polling company prepared her to be a propagandist extraordinaire. But people always cleanly divide her polling, as if it is legitimate, from her disinformation campaigns for Trump. They are one and the same. Throughout the Trump regime, she never changed her Twitter name from @KellyannePolls.
I wish people would open their eyes and realize political polling companies are designed to influence their thought.
Journalists are supposed to report news—events that have already happened—and they do with the exception of reporting predicted voting outcomes supplied to them by people like Kellyanne Conway.

Seriously, where would one be, without The Guardian?
It’s really the last stronghold of objective and unbiased journalism.
Whenever even NYT or WallPo are deserting journalistic principles, The Guardian stands out above all these tabloids, head and shoulders, a beacon of progressive hope

R59, what's Ginny Thomas' excuse? I assure you, there are smart, connected people who are buying into bullshit, because they are just despicable individuals.
I listened to an interview given by Mark Meadows' atty. This is a longtime, well-connected, former DOJ official and now white collar attorney - he's a deplorable. The things he said, treating Trump like he was innocuous. Like he was some "aww, shucks" candidate who connected with "real 'muricuh." Just completely ignoring that Trump couldn't tell you who wrote the constitution, let alone what's in it and that Trump's campaign was based entirely on hate, racism, bigotry and lies. And ignoring that Trump is just a morally-bankrupt individual to his core. So if that's connecting to the "common man," then the common man is a pile of shit who should go extinct.
by Anonymous | reply 63 | June 5, 2022 3:54 PM |

Yep, we have a large number of people in America who are deplorable shitheads. I think back to those debates when the crowd cheered tRump on when he said not paying taxes makes him smart or the GQP debates when Megyn Kelly asked him about his misogyny and calling women fat pigs and dogs. Again, the CROWD cheered him on. These people admire that type of behavior and aspire to it. And you have a bunch of enablers and self-loathers (mostly their wives and daughters) who think this is all just fine and normal behavior.

Nay, face facts, most Americans aren't that deep, they can no longer have actual have conversations, they are always looking at their cells, way too many are obsessed with celebrity gossip. Want to bet most can tell you more about the Depp/Heard trail than things which affect them directly?
Most Americans don't seem to care about things which affect their lives. Remember those Jan 6th morons were fighting for Drumpf, they were NOT fighting to keep Social Security and other social service programs which would help them. I bet most don't even realize what exactly Dump stands for.
ReThug politicians sure do know how stupid most of their base is, they prey upon their voters fears, their racism and their overall stupidity. All these deplorables, whether, rich or poor, are hateful deeply flawed humans.
The election of Drumpf and a TV channel which is all about hate and lies (FOX 'news') is more than enough to show us how far the US is sinking into becoming a fascist nation.
The so-called educated GQP voters voters are simply hateful racists and xenophobes. They simply hate anyone who is different than they are. Perhaps it's time for the US to become two countries.

That's just more democratic weakness, and uselessness. This is why the repugs keep committing crimes, because the democrats let them.
This is the exact reason so many people vote against their own self-interests, they don't want to be associated in any way with a bunch of fucking pussies who can't get anything done.

He always belittled me when I was younger. My dad physically abused me a lot right here in this very room. Same thing with my mom. You know, my mom got me arrested. She's very, very physically abusive. Very very very very very abusive. I've been belittled and badgered my whole life."
I find it impossible not to believe this is all accurate. Can you imagine Kellyanne Conway not being a badgering, insulting, violent parent? And why would her husband be with her given how he presents himself publicly? They're probably exactly the same when cameras are off and they're not tweeting or writing op-eds.
