I just watched his interview on Rosenbaum's podcast. He just seems like a good guy, not really sure why he gets all the hate that he does on here. I watch The Boys but am not familiar with the comics. He said the role he plays is an 80 year old man who never ages past 40 and he is sort of what you would expect an unenlightened 80 year old to be like. The scene he wouldn't film was probably something violent or something that an unenlightened 80 year old would say or do, that he wasn't going to do.

When you sign off on for a series, you don't always know what every script is going to be. And even if you know, sometimes you get a scene and it doesn't sit well with you and you work with the director to rework it. That sort of thing happens a lot at the table read.

Come on, R23 - if you sign up for The Boys, you must have a pretty good idea of the possibilities.

Of course, R24 but that doesn't mean that there still isn't some give and take in the process. Most sets, especially now, go out of their way to make sure that actors are comfortable. Most directors will work with an actor on a scene as long as the heart of the scene remains intact. There are often many different ways to get to the same point.

If an actor feels uncomfortable with a scene, good directors find a way to make it work so that the actor is comfortable while ensuring that the story gets told. Directors aren't really in charge of TV shows, a lot of times they are journeyman directors coming in for a single episode r29. TV shows are run by the head writer/showrunner.

Kripke got him the job on "The Boys," as you mentioned.

But he failed to tell Kripke about the Supernatural prequel he was planning. And he also let Kripke believe that Jared wanted no part of it.

So Kripke goes and publicly chastises Jared on Twitter, saying that Jared doesn't want to participate because he's "too busy" for it.

Well that blew up in Kripke's face, because the truth is that Jensen didn't TELL Jared about the project. It wasn't that Jared didn't want to participate.

So Kripke had to publicly apologize to Jared for jumping to conclusions, and insulting him on Twitter.

In terms of possibly homophobic receipts for Jensen, I can think of a few:

At one convention, when discussing a script written by showrunner Sera Gamble, he recalled saying on set that Dean's dialogue welcoming Castiel back from his presumed death was the "unmanliest" thing ever. He attributed that to Gamble being a female writer. When corrected by Misha Collins, who reminded Ackles that at the time he'd called it the "gayest" conversation ever, Ackles replied that he was trying to be politically correct.

At another convention, Ackles read a long passage of Castiel's dialogue in an exaggerated lisping "gay accent." He claimed that that was how he heard the character's voice in his head when he read through his scripts.

In an interview, he said that Brokeback Mountain made him not want to do a cowboy movie anymore.

On other occasions, he's been aggressive towards fans who have implied that they view his character Dean as bisexual or who support a romantic interpretation of Dean's relationship with Castiel.

In spite of the character's declaration of love, Ackles has said that Castiel's feelings for Dean and therefore Castiel's sexuality are "open to interpretation." In other words, no homo.

Years back, Collins was photographed for the No H8 campaign. Ackles and Padalecki are bigger names than him, so it's interesting that they didn't take part at any point, especially given how tight-knit the Supernatural cast purports to be. A poster here years ago said that they had insider knowledge that Ackles was the one who declined to participate (Padalecki was willing to do it).

Others can feel free to add more.

I personally doubt that he's intensely homophobic, not least because he has gay family members to whom he is close, but he's said and done problematic things. It is possible to say and do homophobic things without being a raving bigot (especially for someone Jensen's age; the world was a lot different when he was starting out). Homosexuality at least seems to make him uncomfortable, more so than it does Collins or Padalecki.

The politics thing is more just used as an excuse to can someone who was despised. Look at how Whoopi still came back to The View, she was well liked and the producers just needed to look good by reprimanding her. If she was a huge bitch, they would have just fired her. Look at actors like Leonardo DiCaprio and Keanu Reeves, both past their prime but will always get Hollywood roles even if their films don't do as highly. Both are well-liked. While people like James Franco, Kevin Spacey and Mel Gibson were despised and Hollywood wanted them out of the way.

If you think about it. It's not different from any regular job. Most people don't fired for being late or not being a fast enough or productive worker if they are likable, honest and still show up every day. They get fired for being unpleasant, disrespectful, not showing up and causing troubles. However, they have heavily implied that he's a pedophile so it makes sense if he backed away from doing an explicit scene about that. There is plenty of rape in the Herogasm comic story.

Jensen lacks the charisma to be Soldier Boy.
