According to Tina Brown's book, Harry is extremely paranoid about his children and his line in the sand with Meghan is that he doesn't want the kids out there for public consumption. I think left to Meghan, she would have been negotiating the cover of People for a million dollar pay day in utero if it were up to her, as many celebs do - they sell the exclusive rights before giving birth. Maybe (and this is a very loose maybe) Harry feels some kind of empathy with kids and even he felt this was a cheap tactic. There were many cameras at the memorial. Meghan knew they would be there. 100% she knew. She cannot NOT have known. Her team knew. She knew there would be photos and footage of herself at the memorial, looking concerned in HD, biting her lip in sadness, walking up and down beside the crosses.

It doesn't matter who those cameras belonged to (although I will NOT be surprised if we get proof some of them were there with Meghan's "crew"). What matters is that they were there, that everyone including Meghan knew they would be there, and that within hours of touching down the images and footage were all over the media, including fawning and highly massaged coverage in People and Buzzfeed News.

The internet has no info on this Bram Stoker Entertainment Medal (there seem to be Bram Stoker awards for horror fiction writers but that ain't Our Meg), and there is zero chance she has any kind of honourary award from Trinity College and hasn't told everyone about it so I'm assuming this is PR bullshit.

The old footage gets at something I think intrigues people not necessarily about Meghan but about her story. She is a very ordinary person. Pretty, even very pretty back then, but also basic and deeply unexceptional. It's almost a movie plot come to life - utterly average woman meets and marries Prince! - and we're watching it play out. We're watching what REALLY happens when someone like her gets everything they think they want. She is the living, breathing example of 'be careful what you wish for.'
