Almonzo Wilder

He was even hotter in real life!

I’d grind his wheat.

by Anonymousreply 1May 23, 2022 6:45 PM

He started courting Laura Ingalls when she was 15. He was 25.

by Anonymousreply 2May 23, 2022 6:47 PM

R2 is a perfect example of a modern day idiot who tries to get people cancelled, for things they did over 100 years ago.

They lack basic reasoning skills, and are unable to put things into proper context, because they don't have the intellectual capability.

These people lived in the US Midwest, on the prairie, with hardly any other people, basic education, and they could barely survive.

It was THE NORM in those days to get married young. The standards were completely different from what they are today.

But because you are so fucking ignorant and judgmental, you're trying to impose 2022 standards on people who lived in the 1800's.

You are a fucking moron, an idiot, and I hope you choke on your self-righteousness.

by Anonymousreply 3May 23, 2022 6:54 PM

R3 is correct but might persuade more people to his point of view by expressing himself differently.

by Anonymousreply 4May 23, 2022 7:09 PM

Supposedly he & Laura were also quite short; but R3 is right - think about Pride & Prejudice - Lydia runs off with Mr. Wickham and she's only like 15.

by Anonymousreply 5May 23, 2022 7:24 PM

And Laura by that age had gone to work to help support her family. Plus, they didn't marry until she turned eighteen.

Honestly, people nowadays who are fixated on seeing pedophilia everywhere, including past history, have a problem. First, they obviosly are poorly educated and have no grasp of history and historical context. Second, the only people who focus on kids and sex are people who are inclined that way.

Almanzo Wilder was a friend of Laura Ingalls' father - that is what she considered him to be. He was not her contemporary; she was a schoolgirl under her parents' authority, he was an adult. They were in no way equals. Also, they lived in a burgeoning area with a rapidly growing population, with more and more settlers arriving all the time and turning the town center, DeSmet, SD, into a real center of population and commerce. It was not so thinly populated that a man in his 20's was limited to a girl in her early teens.

It's hilarious to read the defenses of straight Almanzo Wilder zeroing in on a straight young schoolgirl here of all places.

by Anonymousreply 7May 23, 2022 7:49 PM

Incidentally, Almanzo didn't turn out to be much of a prize. He mismanaged their finances, lost their first farm, anf Laura had to manage their money after that. Plus, after his stroke, he was partially handicapped. Laura had to work multiple jobs to keep them solvent. Probably as a result of being burdened with a not-very-useful husband, she was hard on him, talking down to him, treating him badly in front of others.

Probably not a coincidence that they had two kids before his stroke, and none afterward, plus they slept in separate beds.

I read Farmer's Boy when I was a kid. I was totally in love with him. He had a pet piglet so I drove my father absolutely crazy to get me a pet piglet. I drove Daddy crazy for a solid year. Finally, he couldn't take it anymore. He drove me out to a pig farm so I could pick one out to take home. My father spoiled us rotten. Then I saw piglets were ugly and smelly and didn't want one. My father forever regretted not driving me out to that farm a year before.

I do hope R3's doctor manages to balance his med dosages properly.

by Anonymousreply 10May 23, 2022 8:06 PM

R7 is a WOKE SJW.

Everyone ignore that piece of shit, and FF them into oblivion.

We don't need asscunts like that on this forum.

by Anonymousreply 11May 23, 2022 10:14 PM

Major difference between courting with the intention of marriage and sexing a much younger, teen, partner.

Girls got married at puberty, men had to prove that they were financially stable and could be a good provider.

What?

by Anonymousreply 13July 5, 2024 1:51 PM

He looks like Austin Butler.

by Anonymousreply 14July 5, 2024 1:56 PM

I rarely use my FF's but glad I have then to use whenever someone starts a campaign to get every to FF someone else into oblivion.

by Anonymousreply 15July 5, 2024 1:59 PM

What does FF possess?

by Anonymousreply 16July 5, 2024 2:18 PM

Dean Butler, who portrayed him in Little House, greatly resembled him.

by Anonymousreply 17July 5, 2024 2:20 PM

I’m watching the next episode and it is a bit weird. Almanzo was forbidden by Pa to marry Laura until she’s 18, but he won’t accept it. He tells Laura he’s leaving Walnut Grove and wants her to go with him. When she hedges, he tells her “he’s a man and no matter what your Pa says, you’re a woman.” Ehhh… He tries to make her choose between him and her father, angrily sulks and drives off after calling her a “little girl.” This is definitely a grown man with maturity issues.

by Anonymousreply 18July 5, 2024 2:44 PM

ZALDAMO!

by Anonymousreply 19July 5, 2024 3:04 PM

Manly!

by Anonymousreply 20July 5, 2024 3:08 PM

The actor who played him on the show was so good looking.

by Anonymousreply 21July 5, 2024 3:10 PM

Bossy bottom, big Rutherford B. Hayes supporter.

by Anonymousreply 22July 5, 2024 3:13 PM

Now he’s losing his shit at the very idea that Laura might work because it offends his manhood. Childish.

by Anonymousreply 23July 5, 2024 4:07 PM

Real life Laura was a cunt. She always seemed bitter and resentful of her daughter Rose. Some have speculated that it was actually 3 year old Rose who started the fire that burned down their first home. Laura blamed her for all their misfortunes afterwards.

by Anonymousreply 24July 5, 2024 4:23 PM

[quote]Real life Laura was a cunt.

So was tv Laura.

by Anonymousreply 25July 5, 2024 4:28 PM

He voted for Joe Biden for sheriff that year.

by Anonymousreply 26July 5, 2024 4:29 PM

Plus, do you realize he was both cis and het? and WHITE, of all things, for fuck's sake! And I have it on good authority he never voted for Biden, Hillary, or even Obama. Never had a single good word to say about Transfolx either. Obviously a white supremacist Nazi shitstain.

by Anonymousreply 27July 5, 2024 4:55 PM

Dean Butler was/is one hunk of man. I was a kid when the show ended, but saw it in reruns and I wanted to be his friend. Hah,
