Jenna Fischer

Any dirt?

I heard she's a Republican. I'm not sure how that rumor got started or where I heard it from. Who knows if it's true.

She was married to James Gunn for 8 years. That had to have been interesting.

She also gives me crazy/narcissistic vibes on social media: A middle-aged woman constantly posting selfies.

by Anonymousreply 106March 2, 2023 7:18 AM

According to extras who worked on "The Office" she was not especially friendly.

by Anonymousreply 1May 23, 2022 9:32 PM

She’s not a republican. She’s tweeted before that she “normally leans blue.”

by Anonymousreply 2May 23, 2022 9:44 PM

She hasn't had anything close to a career post-Office so there could be something wrong with her. Or maybe she's retired.

by Anonymousreply 3May 23, 2022 10:57 PM

She doesn’t need to work.

by Anonymousreply 4May 24, 2022 12:44 AM

She’s definitely living off her The Office fame but

by Anonymousreply 5May 24, 2022 1:12 AM

I can’t stand her

by Anonymousreply 6May 24, 2022 1:15 AM

Apparently, she didn't get "Alias" because she wasn't hot enough. I think she was (and still is) far more attractive than Jennifer Garner. It was probably more that her build/physique was not right for an ass-kicking secret agent.

by Anonymousreply 7May 25, 2022 6:34 PM

I have always found her profoundly unexciting and breathtakingly adequate as an onscreen presence.

by Anonymousreply 8May 25, 2022 6:40 PM

Generic slut from Nerinx Hall.

by Anonymousreply 9May 25, 2022 6:49 PM

I thought she was really good as Pam in the first few seasons when she was a shlubby shrinking violet. That's not a backhanded compliment; I really thought it was a difficult role to get just right and she did it.

But the more she became "glam Pam," the more boring both she and the character became. I'm not surprised her career seems to have completely ended now.

by Anonymousreply 10May 25, 2022 6:52 PM

Her character on the Office was so smug I can't warm to her. Also she's quite average looking and acting, and keeps milking the Office for relevance almost a decade later. Meh.

by Anonymousreply 11May 25, 2022 6:59 PM

Glam Pam? I never saw it myself.

by Anonymousreply 12May 25, 2022 7:01 PM

It was weird how Pam and Jim evolved from the endearing voice of reason in the early seasons of The Office into smug, arrogant pricks who bully and sneer at everyone.

I don’t know if that was actually the writing and performances changing, or if time simply painted them in a new light. Either way, once I saw them from that perspective, the show became unwatchable for me.

by Anonymousreply 13May 25, 2022 7:07 PM

Fischer was never going to have much of a career with her two hotter and more talented doppelgangers, Amy Adams and Isla Fisher, around. The parts Amy doesn't want Isla scoops up.

by Anonymousreply 14May 25, 2022 7:54 PM

R12 She wasn't truly glam, but they certainly tried.

by Anonymousreply 15May 25, 2022 7:57 PM

Who the hell is she?

by Anonymousreply 16May 25, 2022 7:58 PM

Some St. Louis bitch who was in The Office

by Anonymousreply 17May 25, 2022 11:10 PM

Jenna and Angela Kinsey have a top-rated podcast - Office Ladies

Jenna's been open about her struggles with mental health, particularly anxiety, and I really appreciate that.

Her friendship with Angela (who is extroverted and opposite of her show character) seems genuine, and I really enjoy listening to them.

They've also just written a best-selling book about their time on "The Office", their friendship, and their lives.

by Anonymousreply 18May 26, 2022 12:11 AM

I remember her swanning about Rodeo Drive, with her ocelot walker by her side, sweating in her full length sable on a hot August morning...

oh, no, wait--that was Gloria Swanson.

What year is it?

by Anonymousreply 19May 26, 2022 12:36 AM

Unlike a lot of nostalgia tours of the past, the Office is in a very different category. There are more people who watch the Office every week today than when it was on the air. At one point in the past few years, something like 3-5% of all internet traffic was people watching the office.

Not sure when the two ladies went on seth meyers but just saw the clip. Fischer talked about how she'd only watched the show when it aired and it was technical for her--what got in, what got cut, etc. She is now rewatching for the podcast and has the experience of having been there but also watching it as a viewer.

There may also be some economic engine behind the podcast, meaning her and Angela are being paid to do it. It's a great way to keep the promotion of the show out there. It's a challenging thing for an entity like Universal to figure out how to continue promoting a show that went off the air a decade ago. But it represents a MAJOR fraction of Universal's business, especially now that it is what is leading people to Peacock. Wouldn't surprise me if they were being paid very well or the podcast is part of an overall talent deal with universal.

by Anonymousreply 20May 26, 2022 1:14 AM

She'd probably be a six in New York but she's like a seven here, in Scranton.

by Anonymousreply 21May 26, 2022 1:38 AM

She’s basically the office mattress.

by Anonymousreply 22May 26, 2022 1:42 AM

Quite big tits.

by Anonymousreply 23May 26, 2022 1:52 AM

Jenna Fischer would be lucky to be a six in NYC. And that's on a good day, with full make-up and a really good blow-out.

Just saying.

by Anonymousreply 24May 26, 2022 1:54 AM

I vaguely remember her in a sitcom with Oliver Hudson where they were getting a divorce, but still had unresolved feelings. I think it was decent and she and Hudson worked well together.

by Anonymousreply 25May 26, 2022 2:01 AM

R18 proves that PR shills lurk.

Probably this thread was started just to shill this new book.

by Anonymousreply 26May 26, 2022 2:05 AM

Most straight guys are attracted to her. I think it's her eyes and the whole girl-next-girl thing.

by Anonymousreply 27May 26, 2022 9:10 PM

[quote]She’s tweeted before that she “normally leans blue.”

In Hollywood, that's code for "I'm to the right of Patricia Heaton."

by Anonymousreply 28May 26, 2022 9:19 PM

During its original run I gave up on the Show after Steve Carrell left. I started watching reruns a few years ago and have a new appreciation of the later seasons.

Now, it's not only on Peacock but Comedy Central and Freeform all the time plus on demand. I watch it a lot, more than any other show on a regular basis. This started during lockdown and I'm still watching. It's soothing to me. There are definite ASMR qualities to it with all the whispering. Dwight Schrute could be a leading ASMR recording artist.

by Anonymousreply 29May 26, 2022 9:38 PM

"Beets... bears... Battlestar Galactica."

by Anonymousreply 30May 26, 2022 9:50 PM

She gave some interview about her acting technique and how she feels what her character is feeling. In The Office, as Pam, she loved John Krasinski as his character and vice versa.

He released a denial a few days later.

It was so weird.

by Anonymousreply 31May 26, 2022 10:09 PM

I think she said on her podcast (or maybe it was something I read) that she made up Pam's whole backstory and history before the audition, including the fact that it never took Pam longer than 10 minutes to do her hair and makeup and get ready for work. Nailed it! Once Jim and Pam got together she started looking prettier, and by the last episode she literally got to sparkle, wearing a sequined top and black pants. Pam hardly ever was shown in anything other than a knee length skirt and pale button down blouse, sometimes with a pastel cardigan.

by Anonymousreply 32May 26, 2022 10:19 PM

R29/R32 is definitely a shill on Peacock's payroll.

by Anonymousreply 33May 26, 2022 10:22 PM

She should have hooked up with her co star Krasinski. They would be perfect for each other because they are both boring and uncharismatic. Just like Pam and Jim ( two of the most insufferable fan favorites ever). I did love all of the side supporting characters though and watched the show for them.

by Anonymousreply 34May 27, 2022 12:00 AM

Good Office articles at the link (beyond Pam & Jim).

My favorite characters are Dwight, Kelly, and Meredith. Nelly had some good potential they should have made her more of a sociopath.

by Anonymousreply 35May 27, 2022 12:03 AM

She’s not very bright. After trump won, she tweeted to his supporters that they should stand up against the obvious racists in the trump camp — basically trying to appeal to the “more reasonable” Trump supporters. But she worded it so badly, she had to delete the tweet and apologize.

Then when the republicans passed their tax break for the rich/punishment of democratic supporters, she managed to get her facts about that wrong too — she criticized it for hurting teachers but her criticism was inaccurate. She again deleted and apologized.

In 2019 she came out in support of Pete Buttigieg.

by Anonymousreply 36May 27, 2022 12:15 AM

I feel Pam could have been played by any competent B list actress. Same with Jim. Their performances weren't terrible but they could have easily been replaced.

by Anonymousreply 37May 27, 2022 3:30 AM

Michael and Holly had a much better love story than Jim and Pam.

by Anonymousreply 38May 27, 2022 3:45 AM

She’d be great as the lead in a Patty Duke biopic, no?

by Anonymousreply 39May 27, 2022 3:57 AM

The most interesting part of the Pam/Jim stuff to me was how Pam was kind of underhanded about it, in the sense that she was essentially having an emotional affair with Jim while sticking with Roy so as not to take a real risk, hurting both of them. It made her much more realistic of a character. And Karen was even more interesting in being strong enough to realize what was going on and get the fuck out of there.

by Anonymousreply 40May 27, 2022 3:59 AM

R39 Everyone here bitches about Brie Larson but I always thought she could pull off Patty.

by Anonymousreply 41May 27, 2022 4:00 AM

R37, Pam and Jim were played by competent C list actors. So are you saying they should have upgraded?

by Anonymousreply 42May 27, 2022 12:05 PM

There’s something a bit crazy about Jenna. If the Reagan’s appeared on The Crown, I wanted her to play Nancy.

by Anonymousreply 43May 27, 2022 1:50 PM

Jenna:

“John and I have real chemistry. There’s like a real part of me that is Pam and a real part of him that’s Jim. And those parts of us were genuinely in love with one another.”

John:

“I think that was wildly misquoted or taken out of context and I feel bad for her.”

by Anonymousreply 44May 27, 2022 1:54 PM

Krasinski is such a climber. I guarantee that if Jenna had somehow ended up with Amy Adams' career, they'd probably be married by now.

by Anonymousreply 45May 27, 2022 2:56 PM

Using a popular TV show to milk it the rest of your life? And that's a problem?

by Anonymousreply 46May 27, 2022 3:12 PM

I hated THE OFFICE in its initial run. And I continue to hate it now, 9 years after it ended.

It's become another perennial like FRIENDS (which I didn't hate as much). The fans blithely assume that everyone shares their love for it.

We don't live in that monolithic pop culture anymore. When was the last time everyone loved something equally, let alone a network sitcom?

by Anonymousreply 47May 27, 2022 3:21 PM

[quote] Krasinski is such a climber.

Absolutely. No coincidence he married the similarly upwardly mobile Emily Blunt.

[quote]I guarantee that if Jenna had somehow ended up with Amy Adams' career, they'd probably be married by now.

He’s a shit actor and ugly to boot and his female fans saw that a positive. Like with Benedict Cumberbatch or Adrien Brody, the girls-next-door/middle-aged-mothers fantasise because he’s not handsome he’ll be nicer than a hot bad boy. Though Brody and Cumberbatch are solid actors.

by Anonymousreply 48May 27, 2022 3:21 PM

Do people actually enjoy the episodes after Steve Carrell left? I recall them being quite horrendous.

by Anonymousreply 49May 27, 2022 3:28 PM

I could see a reboot focusing on Pam and Jim and their new life in Austin. They both do not have much of a career and Austin is so popular right now. Or is anyone seriously watching Jack Ryan? Lol.

The Office and Seinfeld are my favorite bedtime series. I usually listen to 1-2 episodes every night and it really helps to fall asleep. Great background noise and you don't have to focus on dialog.

by Anonymousreply 50May 27, 2022 3:31 PM

[Quote]Do people actually enjoy the episodes after Steve Carrell left? I recall them being quite horrendous.

Nah. I can't stand Ed Helms and I was mortified when he became the lead. I hate all his mannerisms, his voice and he is also fugly. I was relieved when they shipped him to Bermuda or something for a couple of episodes and I did not miss him.

by Anonymousreply 51May 27, 2022 3:38 PM

[quote] The Office and Seinfeld are my favorite bedtime series. I usually listen to 1-2 episodes every night and it really helps to fall asleep. Great background noise and you don't have to focus on dialog.

When, I used to do that, mine used to be Frasier and The Golden Girls.

by Anonymousreply 52May 27, 2022 3:38 PM

Remember when Ed Helms was (mercifully briefly) a movie star, after THE HANGOVER et al?

Good lord.

by Anonymousreply 53May 27, 2022 3:42 PM

Many years ago, before The Office, I sat next to her in a vet’s waiting room. She had two rescue cats that she was fostering for a Los Angeles area rescue group. She was very pleasant. That’s all I’ve got.

Robert California was also a horrible addition and Darryl and Jim were suddenly big shots at an obscure start up and always talking about market shares and scope.

by Anonymousreply 56May 27, 2022 7:14 PM

R56 Yeah I agree those plotlines sucked. California was a completely incongruent character. It was like he arrived from a different comedic universe altogether. And the problem with Jim and Darryl becoming " big shots" was that the entire appeal and theme of the show initially is that these were basic middle American people living in a non descript suburb just trying to pay the bills. They weren't the high flying types you meet in NYC or L.A.

by Anonymousreply 57May 28, 2022 1:42 AM

The Robert California issue is the problem with lazy writing. Taking the James Spader persona and spelling it out for the stupid kids in the back row didn’t work.

by Anonymousreply 58May 28, 2022 2:41 AM

They changed things around a bit in the last season, and I found that very enjoyable. For anyone who stopped watching altogether, I would recommend giving the final season a try.

by Anonymousreply 59May 28, 2022 2:59 AM

Never watched The Office but I did work with her about 8 years ago. She was very pleasant, very professional, smart and upfront. I thought she barely knew my name but then surprised me with a little thank you gift and card when we finished the project.

by Anonymousreply 60May 28, 2022 3:10 AM

[quote]It was weird how Pam and Jim evolved from the endearing voice of reason in the early seasons of The Office into smug, arrogant pricks who bully and sneer at everyone.

Agree, though Pam's meekness even in the early seasons always rang false to me.

by Anonymousreply 61May 28, 2022 3:10 AM

R61 Yes. I could see her being a little low key and introverted but I didn't fully buy how she was portrayed as having so little self esteem and assertiveness.

by Anonymousreply 62May 28, 2022 3:22 AM

R48 Girls in the movie theater I went to were screaming when he first appeared in the Dr. Strange movie. Screaming and swooning. It was over the top and odd.

by Anonymousreply 63May 28, 2022 3:41 AM

[quote]Yes. I could see her being a little low key and introverted but I didn't fully buy how she was portrayed as having so little self esteem and assertiveness.

For some reason that made me think of Baily Quarters. Now that is a workplace show that should have gone on a couple of more seasons.

by Anonymousreply 64May 28, 2022 1:00 PM

[Quote] Absolutely. No coincidence he married the similarly upwardly mobile Emily Blunt.

It was funny to see Emily bash superhero movies on Graham Norton. Both Emily and John wanted to be part of the Marvel-verse and now John is in the new Dr Strange movie.

by Anonymousreply 65May 28, 2022 1:35 PM

I hated Jim and Pam because their personalities were built on being "better" than Dunder-Mifflin yet they both stayed and made careers in the paper industry. They deserved to be told off for being such smug, sellout frauds with ZERO ambition.

by Anonymousreply 66May 29, 2022 11:41 AM

I’ve never seen a single second of The Office. Is it really that good?

by Anonymousreply 67May 29, 2022 11:57 AM

In an industry full of neoliberals, Krasinski is one of the biggest.

by Anonymousreply 68May 30, 2022 12:47 AM

My favorite episodes are Cafe Disco and The Dinner Party. For the later episodes The Garden Party has its moments.

by Anonymousreply 69May 30, 2022 4:32 PM

The series should have ended with Steve Carell's departure. The original Brit version was a limited series with a definite beginning and end, then they added a Christmas movie to appease their fans. The American version should have followed that example.

by Anonymousreply 70May 30, 2022 5:48 PM

Most Mike Schur shows are greatly overrated. Parks and Rec was not THAT good either.

by Anonymousreply 71May 30, 2022 5:50 PM

I'm pretty sure she hasn't had any plastic surgery.

by Anonymousreply 72June 11, 2022 4:19 PM

I would hope that's not the face that's had plastic surgery. If so, she shouldget her money back.

by Anonymousreply 73June 11, 2022 5:58 PM

r72, she's had some very good and not obvious fillers in her mouth lines. They are just barely visible in S1 and gone by S2.

One of the things that made the show so good is that the entire case is very, very ordinary looking. No one is especially handsome, cute or pretty. Just regular folks working at a midsize paper company in Scranton, PA.

by Anonymousreply 74June 11, 2022 7:57 PM

Mindy would not get hired for The Office now.

Her podcast with the actress who played Angela is hard to listen to because they're both shrill.

by Anonymousreply 76June 12, 2022 3:38 AM

At our recent annual The Office 5k almost nobody dressed up as Pam. Lots of Dwights, Kevins and Merediths.

by Anonymousreply 77June 12, 2022 3:56 AM

Wait up. What was the context of the quotes by Jenna and John Krasinsky @ [R44] ? Why did he feel bad for her? She had real feelings for him and he denies having feelings for her?

by Anonymousreply 78June 12, 2022 4:31 AM

[quote].Her podcast with the actress who played Angela is hard to listen to because they're both shrill.

I agree, I listened to a few episodes then stopped. They are both annoying as fuck. Fischer knows that she's never going to get another hit show so she will milk The Office for the rest of her life.

by Anonymousreply 79July 22, 2022 4:34 AM

She was fired from Man with a Plan. She was cast as my wife. We did a pilot episode. She stunk. Fired!

by Anonymousreply 80July 22, 2022 4:37 AM

She hasn't worked since 2019. Has she retired or do we blame it on COVID?

by Anonymousreply 81July 22, 2022 4:41 AM

I fucking hate that fraud Mindy Kaling…

by Anonymousreply 82July 22, 2022 4:44 AM

R39 Maura Tierney must do the Patty Duke biopic. When young they could have been twins.

by Anonymousreply 83July 22, 2022 4:54 AM

R81 COVID probably had an impact on various B and C list actors getting work with projects getting delayed or shelved. But, she's a very limited actress, I wouldn't be surprised if there are casting directors and producers in the industry who think she's bland as fuck so they never consider her for roles or if she auditions they reject her and cast someone else.

by Anonymousreply 84July 22, 2022 5:17 AM

She's already beaten the odds and done better than 99% of her peers by getting a series regular role, and better than 99.99% of them because it ended up a beloved, long-running and still lucrative show. She's middle aged, not remarkably beautiful by Hollywood standards, what else is going to be out there? Maybe she just wants to leave the hustling behind and enjoy her millions.

by Anonymousreply 85July 22, 2022 5:48 AM

R83 Patty Duke should have played her mother on ER the TV show, instead of Sally Field 👍

by Anonymousreply 86July 23, 2022 12:37 PM

R83 Maura Tierney makes my skin crawl. Her ER episodes are unwatchable.

by Anonymousreply 87July 23, 2022 12:55 PM

Hated how Pam became this smug, office mate abusing know it all in the later The Office seasons. Her character pissed me off so much. I was hoping Jim found some hot Dallas Cowboy Cheerleader and left her and their kids back in Scranton. I liked her in Blades of Glory, she looked actually pretty and she was funny.

by Anonymousreply 88July 23, 2022 1:04 PM

[R88], the character of Pam quickly derailed once Pam and Jim became a couple. She was no longer a vulnerable, sympathetic character. She became overly confident, sarcastic, and lacked any warmth we saw in the early seasons. Maybe she never had warmth, but the audience was led to believe she did since Jim was so enamored with her. Why did he fall in love with her to begin with?

by Anonymousreply 89July 23, 2022 1:45 PM

I just recently watched the show for the first time on Netflix and I was surprised how basic Pam and Jim were. Usually showrunners make characters more interesting and add special skills or quirks. His love interests and job opportunities were also much more existing than his home or work life in Scranton so his decision to choose Pam and Scranton was surprising.

by Anonymousreply 90July 23, 2022 2:10 PM

I fucking loathe Ed Fucking Frankenstein Helms with the heat of ten billion galaxies.

by Anonymousreply 91July 23, 2022 2:15 PM

^The annoying fuck was even the lead in the last two seasons.

by Anonymousreply 92July 23, 2022 2:17 PM

Why did he fall in love with her to begin with?

I agree. By the end of The Office, I hated Pam and Jim. I couldn't stand how their frau fans overhyped them. They weren't a likable or an attractive couple. The only time I found Pam to have some warmth after marrying Jim was in the Christmas episode where she helped Darryl connect with his daughter.

But, we all know at least one straight couple in real life like Jim and Pam. These are couples who act as if their lives are extraordinary when they aren't and their lives are just average. My friend's stepsister and her now ex-husband reminded me of Pam and Jim. He worked in sales for a construction supply company and had the Jim personality. She took on his personality after marrying him. She worked for several years as a NICU nurse, but she was snotty and seemed resentful that she had to sometimes work with medical assistants or CNAs. At one point, she left nursing to start a photography business. Her work was average, but of course she acted like it was the best in the world. Anyway, last year they divorced and she's bitching up and down about how she hates that she will have to return to some kind of nursing job soon.

by Anonymousreply 97July 23, 2022 7:23 PM

Basically, as a struggling actress, Jenna Fischer was an office temp until she landed the role on The Office. Not a lot of range.

by Anonymousreply 98July 23, 2022 9:05 PM

I always felt she’s taken a good long ride on the Jimaconda

by Anonymousreply 99July 23, 2022 9:16 PM

Why the hate for Ed Helms?

Did he anger the writers and cast of The Office when he began making movies? In the story arc where he returned from some long boating trip to explain his absence on the show, I detected hostility and jabs at him in the script.

by Anonymousreply 100July 23, 2022 10:35 PM

I think Karen was hotter than Pam and had more drive. Pam gets the chance of a lifetime to pursue her passion in NYC but she’s so wimpy and small town, she can’t hack it and is back at a paper company. She lied to get a new job and she was always mean to Michael who was literally the WORLDS BEST BOSS! They had it so good work him and they kept trying to ruin him. Jim had no business conniving his way into the manager job.

by Anonymousreply 101July 26, 2022 2:13 AM

I actually like Ed Helms in The Hangover. Andy Bernard in the Office is such a douche lord and unlikeable character.

by Anonymousreply 102July 26, 2022 2:20 AM

Pre-"The Office" fame, she wrote, directed and co-starred with James Gunn in a lame, mean spirited and self-indulgent mockumentary about LA yuppies "helping" the homeless. Very strange that this exists and kind of explains her marriage to James Gunn (she's probably not as bad as him, though). It was released by Troma (I think Gunn is a big fan of their B-movies and worked for them at the tome).
