Rich and Famous (1981)

Anyone else enjoy this 1981 film?

Anything with Hart Bochner in it has to have redeeming qualities.

We knew, though sadly not in the Biblical sense, the writer. A sister who did enjoy the writer reported "big fat" sizemeat!

Is r2's writing style lifted from somewhere?

by Anonymousreply 3May 22, 2022 9:38 AM

It's either Erna/MPC or someone pretending to be them, r3.

Didn't we just have a thread on Rich and Famous? I remember WW some posts from people who said they liked it, because I also liked it.

Did the real MPC write like that, though? No the stink vocab, but the old timey writing style?

by Anonymousreply 5May 22, 2022 9:54 AM

*Not the

by Anonymousreply 6May 22, 2022 9:54 AM

Yes.

by Anonymousreply 7May 22, 2022 9:56 AM

Yes, "knew in the Biblical sense" the stilted speech are classic MPC, but he was always a lot more careful about grammar and spelling than this new guy is. Still not convinced it's MPC. Mostly don't care either way.

I only remember the airplane toilet scene..

by Anonymousreply 9May 22, 2022 9:57 AM

No, I mean the actress MPC. Did she write a famour memoir or something?

by Anonymousreply 10May 22, 2022 9:59 AM

Oh! Sorry, I didn't understand that. I don't know why he chose Mrs Patrick Campbell as a name, but he always uses the names of women. I assume they are women he thinks are "fabulous."

Candy Bergen was marvelous.

Well, that's firmly in Erna's wheelhouse.

Didn't Anne Welles' train also go past this?

I've never seen Rich and Famous, but that trailer leaves me with a question. WHAT is that accent Candy is trying to achieve? Southern? She fails spectacularly.

by Anonymousreply 15May 22, 2022 12:21 PM

Yes, Southern.

by Anonymousreply 16May 22, 2022 12:21 PM

I liked how this scene ended.

by Anonymousreply 18May 22, 2022 12:50 PM

My parents liked it. We watched it on HBO in the 80s

by Anonymousreply 19May 22, 2022 1:20 PM

"Candy" doesn't not suit Bergen. Phyllis. She's a Phyllis.

by Anonymousreply 20May 22, 2022 2:28 PM

*does not suit

by Anonymousreply 21May 22, 2022 2:28 PM

Matt Lattanzi was smoking hot in the early 80's,

Olivia got to hump that every night.

by Anonymousreply 22May 22, 2022 2:29 PM

From Sandahl Bergman's bolt on's to Matt Lattanzi's balls.
