I’m tired of getting one job rejection after another 😔

I want to cry. I keep getting one job rejection after another for jobs I’m more than qualified for and have experience in. My heart drops every time I see a new email and it’s a rejection instead of an email to set up an interview.

I'm sorry you are going through this. The right job/fit will definitely come along.

by Anonymousreply 1May 20, 2022 2:58 AM

Align with a recruiter. Most job postings are either info collectors or a formality and the company already knows who they're hiring but have to post it anyway.

Thank you, hun.

Do you know a good way of doing that?

by Anonymousreply 3May 20, 2022 3:09 AM

Maybe if you spent less time posting 30 stupid threads a day

by Anonymousreply 4May 20, 2022 3:10 AM

I;m sorry this is happening to you OP - but the reality s that going on job interviews is now like being an actor auditioning for a part

You can go on hundreds of jobs interviews and not get hired, same as going on hundreds of auditions and not getting a part

It is not about your experience or qualifications, it comes down to personality, Does the person hiring you, like you or not. Qualification and experience is always secondary - the person interviewing you will make their minds within the first 30 seconds. The rest of the interview they are just going through the motions.

Networking is still the best way to land a job, not what you know but who you know. Landing a job that is not advertised, where is no competition is how most people get hired,

I wish I had some answers for you OP, but I don't. All I know is applying for jobs, going on interviews and getting rejected will continue if you keep going this path

Good luck

by Anonymousreply 5May 20, 2022 3:16 AM

so, stop getting rejected?

What's your field?

by Anonymousreply 6May 20, 2022 3:21 AM

You just need one yes. If your success rate is 1/1000, then congratulations, you've got a job. Work your network. I got my current position in part through a friend of a friend. Hang in there!

by Anonymousreply 7May 20, 2022 3:27 AM

R3, I was referred to one by a friend. But you can google recruiters and staffing agencies in your area, submit your resume and profile and hopefully someone will reach out to you.

by Anonymousreply 8May 20, 2022 3:29 AM

OP- I'm tired of getting one sexual rejection after another 😞

by Anonymousreply 9May 20, 2022 3:30 AM

You should be thankful right now.

I have gotten my jobs mostly via recruiters. I’m currently taking a little time off but will be starting a job search myself in a few months so I understand your anxiety OP.

A lot of companies lately are doing the whole “apply directly in our website” stuff but that’s just so these “talent acquisition managers” can pretend they actually justify their salaries. Many of those jobs are non starters as there are internal candidates etc but companies are obliged to post a certain amount of jobs externally to their website, LinkedIn or monster etc.

I’ve had it happen where I’m on paper a perfect fit but can’t manage to even get a call back when I apply via a job board. They are usually inundated with many hundreds of people applying even if not qualified ….so they pull the first 3-4 resumes that come up that look reasonably qualified and set up interviews with them and the rest just rot in the pile and then get the polite auto send “thanks but fuck off” email.

That’s why a recruiter helps. They have the hiring managers attention and are looking for a specific fit for a role that is open and will present the candidates that they feel are a match. Remember though, recruiters are paid by companies to find that match. They are not your personal job counsellor and do not work for you so don’t treat them like they owe you something and should be working all day to find you a job specifically.

Sometimes people you know can give you a lead but I find most people are not big “networkers” despite all the bullshit talk about networking, and they still manage to find a job. You could reach out to a few people you have worked with in the past and let them know you’re looking and if they hear of anything to let you know. It takes time.

Chin up and keep at it. Sending good vibes your way.

I tried being nice for ten minutes.

Stop being a whiny sod and take a job.

It is as simple as that. . .

as I don't know your field, I can't offer an approach.

I could be crude and say I've got the cock, ego and background to negotiate the contract want. But we wouldn't need to do a poll to discover how many people here believe I'm a halfwit. And, I might agree. . . for other reasons.

When I approach a company, I do a deep dive and look for what's relevant to my field and background, and those I might be working with... I do my homework, I show my worth and make an effort to find a portion of the culture I fit within. . . whether it's among the clients, coworkers or the overall structure.

I'm one of those douchebags that act like I already have the job. If I don't, I don't. If I have to take a side gig in the meantime, I take a side gig. You have to keep moving because if you stop to breathe... opportunities will pass you by, and it's likely to negatively impact your interview performance.

If you're having that much trouble and you can afford it, I'd recommend taking up an internship in your field, ideally, at your desired company or one of equal worth. If they have an education requirement, then do a CEU or pick up a grad certificate. Something practical to pad your cv with but compliments or applies to your field to give you a more competitive edge with a recent value sum.

When they say you're overqualified, it means they don't want to pay as much for you. So, if you want to grovel, then grovel. You have to form your own professional persona. . . for some that's being a simpering, sniveling little bitch. but I'm gimpy, so I have to overcompensate by being a toxic cock.

If you need misery loves company feel, then maybe you'd feel better knowing I've been spending almost six months trying to get out of a contract because they've reneged on a contractual agreement and unfortunately, many others at the same time... which has turned it into a much larger dispute than myself alone. So, now I'm left with a decent paying side gig (I can't work in my primary field until I'm released from my contract or the allotted time passes) and wasting far too much time on here... which kills my soul a little more everyday to the where I fantasize about moving to an even more isolated place as the world burns down.

So, do you want to fall into that situation.. you don't need to be in the same straits to end up here.

So, keep moving.

by Anonymousreply 14May 20, 2022 4:12 AM

Sorry you're going through this, OP. I was laid off just before the pandemic started, so I took off some time to regroup before planning my next steps. When I was ready to go back to work, the pandemic was in full swing and no one was hiring.

For six months, I went through several interviews, and got rejections. (Those were the companies who even bothered to let me know they had received my resume; a lot of companies never even thank you for applying.) I was in therapy, and I was working on my social anxiety issues in hopes that I would come off as less socially awkward in interviews.

I signed up for ZipRecruiter, and lots of job ads were delivered to my inbox. I set up an account and resume, and I had a few recruiters contact me after seeing my profile. I eventually found work with a federal contractor. They have to fill vacant positions quickly to deliver work for their client.

My company recently advertised for a position, and we received just six resumes. Four of the applicants only wanted to be considered if we would allow them to work fully remotely. (We couldn't, as we require some work to be performed on site.)

by Anonymousreply 15May 20, 2022 4:31 AM

I’ve been up all night and have applied for 5 different jobs. Something has to work out eventually!

by Anonymousreply 16May 20, 2022 9:20 AM

I wish I could say something useful to help OP out, but I have never worked for other people, not even a part time job in fast food or summer intern etc, sometimes I feel I must have missed a lot in my life by not having any jobs, the interviews, a work experience in a company interacting with coworkers, the boss and the clients...

by Anonymousreply 17May 20, 2022 9:38 AM

You'll get there eventually. It's all about perseverance.
