30 Years Ago Today (5/19/1992), Amy Fisher shot Mary Jo Buttafuoca in the head
Do you remember all the news coverage about this story? I was only 5 about to be 6 at the time but I remember this story so clearly because of my mother (and grandmother who lived with us for a little while) kept up with the story and news. I also remember seeing a TV movie about this, but don’t remember if it was good.
Anyway, what are these people up to now? I know the “Long Island Lolita” moved back to LI years ago after getting out of prison. Is she still there?
She looked a bit like Mary Louise Parker from some angles.

Yeah, I watched all 3 of the TV movies back in the day. I was the same age as Amy and I was fascinated by the case. I even read her book.
She tried to be a porn star after she got out of prison. Worst porn actress ever.

One thing I remember about the Amy Fisher saga is that it showed the rest of America what most of Long Island is like. Until then, Americans associated Long Island with the Great Gatsby and the Hamptons, i.e. rich people and elegance. This story broke the facade and showed the country how unbelievably tacky, trashy and low-class most of Long Island really is.
