OMG I'd never even heard of Whitney Cummings until a few weeks ago

like most older comedians, she's been associated with the worst of the worst dregs of humanity and has tried rehab'ing her image but she always falls short of the mark. She wants celeb more than comedy. She's only ever been substitute sidekick material and even for that it was more to be the butt of the joke. She needs notes to give a spontaneous remark. But she's outlived many of her peers, so there's that.

Didn't she have a moment or semi-moment like 15 years ago? Definitely remember the name; didn't know she was still around and popular in some circles.

r9 Chelsea Lately, then they had a public feud for a while.... she also had a failed sitcom but women collectively seem to hate her once they remember who she is.

Was she an actress before becoming a stand-up comedian? A comedy actress? How did she first become famous?

She’s responsible for Two Broke Girls. Nuff said.

r13 she worked behind the scenes for mtv, became a groupie and started doing comedy, got on a reality/game show for comics.. worked behind the scenes again, acted a little, became a roaster for comedy central.

in short, she was a goto diversity hire because she'd lick the network's boots. .. which got her credit for 2 broke girls and subsequently her own sitcom, ratings sucked, she went behind the scenes again... would get a few comedy specials but basically she was never good and yet keeps getting these opportunities. Her real life dramas (fights, addiction, eating disorders, metoo, health, etc) seem to keep her relevant enough for people to keep giving her opportunities though she's never had a winner. Even her behind the scenes work is marred.

So, fare or not, most people think she's one of those that slept with the right person at the right time. . . she alludes to as much herself. But, of course, it's just her style of comedy.

I don't remember a thread like this in which all the posters are [bold]totally in sync with each other.[/bold] It's strange. Usually you'll get at least one or two people say "I luuurve her" and disagree with the general.
